Camp out
![]() → POST with your character → TAG others, use rng if you need to, or just make up your own scenario if you want! → HAVE FUN. 001 SETTING UP CAMP | Why the hell are there so many pieces to this tent and wait what? no no that's not how you start a fire are you trying to burn the forest down?! 002 ROUGHING IT | Okay there's camping and then there's stranding yourself out in the woods with nothing but a backpack, a piece of flint, and a compass. Or maybe it wasn't you're idea and you're in need of rescuing. 003 CAMPFIRE FOOD | There's nothing like food cooked over a campfire. Or maybe you're content with just stabbing a hotdog with a stick and trying not to get it too burnt? 004 FIRESIDE TALES | Something about being in the woods at night demands spooky stories told by the fire. And maybe you can wrangle someone else into helping you scare the crap out of everyone! 005 GREAT OUTDOORS | Sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy the wonder of being outside where light pollution is minimal, the forest sounds replace the noise of the city, and you can see the stars. Or maybe you just want to complain about all these bugs. 006 HIKING TRAILS | On foot, on horseback, or on mountain bike, these are the best way to see what there is to see. Just make sure you stay on the path. 007 PLANT IDENTIFICATION | No, those berries are totally safe to eat... right? And... hold on... is that poison ivy? 008 THE RICH LIFE | Now this is camping. An RV that costs almost as much as your house, running water, TV, AC... what do you mean that's not really camping? 009 WILDLIFE ENCOUNTERS | What was that? Did you just see a fox? Or was that a bear you heard? Or maybe you're looking for something a bit easier to roast like rabbits or fish. Just watch out for snakes. 010 INCLEMENT WEATHER | How are you supposed to set up a tent when it's pouring? Did you bring enough layers for the chill? Or maybe it's just unseasonably hot and you need to go jump in the river before you pass out. 011 THE UNKNOWN | Maybe it was all the scary stories or maybe it's just the unknown sounds that come from the forest at night but you're freaked. Or maybe... Maybe it's a Wendigo. 012 WILD CARD | Roll again, mix and match, or create your own. Via |

Din's not typically one for social calls, but there are a couple of people in the galaxy that he makes an exception for, and Cobb Vanth is one of them.
This time, he'd been able to fly directly there; with Mos Pelgo expanding a little in the wake of the Krayt Dragon being gone and the temporary partnership with the Tusken, they'd built a single-ship landing pad. His new Starfighter fit it just fine, and Grogu had been excited to be back, marveling over the dragon bones lining the bar and the little bone trinkets the other kids had.
I was in the neighborhood was Din's explanation, which was true; he's still bounty hunting, even if he does have his own little homestead on Navarro now. He needs to make credits somehow, and there'd been a sizeable bounty on Tattooine. Once he'd wrapped that job up, he'd come here. And that's how he'd found himself agreeing to accompany Vanth out on an expedition to find the local Tusken and broker a permanent trade deal with them.
They'd left late in the day, so as it gets dark, they stop in the shade of a tall dune and set up camp. Tents made for the desert come with weighted floors and long hooks to bury down into the more solid clay beneath the sand, and as Vanth sets his up, Din prepares a campfire and food. He didn't bring a tent for himself, he's used to sleeping under the stars.
The food is a spread they'd been given in Mos Pelgo -- the people, so fond of their Sheriff, had insisted -- a thick vegetable stew and fresh baked bread, and meat skewers on the side that Din's roasting over the fire. "Dinner's just about ready," he calls, accompanied by an eager warble from Grogu, who's watching the food with big, shining eyes.

'Doordrag'? Do they deliver pizza here? [Nevermind that 'here' doesn't even have any cellphone reception, let alone internet coverage, and Bucky couldn't afford the tip for this no-postcode postcard destination.]

I think I've got enough food packed for the weekend. I thought some instant cook meals would be okay, less cooking and less clean up...
[He knows Katsuki likes freshly cooked food but this is camping so it should be fine, right??
They're hiking up the mountain towards the camping site at the mountain's summit. As expected, Izuku has a bag on his shoulders that probably has way too much stuff. But better to be prepared than sorry...]

So what if he's noticed he's packed on some muscle and is super built now? Loads of other people have noticed that! He doesn't go around simping Deku like some other idiots do! Pink Cheeks, Icy Hot, Glasses, they all act like Deku's so amazing. So he's worked hard to get a hold of his quirk in a ridiculously short and impressive span of time! Doesn't mean he's a gift to the planet! He's just a hard worker who gives it his all! His self-sacrificing drive is a pain in the ass to deal with, it's not like Deku's perfect! HE'S still going to be Number One! And if Deku lets himself be anything less than Number Two, then Katsuki's going to kick his ass into shape until he's there!
How's that river in Egypt you're floating down, Katsuki? Sounds like you might need a motorboat to start going in the other direction because the inner tube you're on ain't working so good. Might even have a hole and you're sinking and/or stuck already.
Katsuki scoffs when he sees the giant ass backpack on Deku's shoulders. If he wants to drag that around the whole time, he better not complain about his shoulders or back getting sore.] Instant cook? As long as it's not loaded with crap. I'll take a look when we get to the site.
[He's got a proper hiking backpack himself, carrying most of the gear along with some foodstuff that'll be easy to prepare. Potatoes and veggies to wrap up in tin foil, canned food (no, he didn't forget the can opener!) to cook in a pan, sturdy fruit that won't get mashed in the backpack easily, simple stuff to eat on the go like granola, cheese, etc. Deku's been tasked with lunch while Katsuki's got dinner covered since dinner is the bigger meal and he knows more about what he's doing but he'll see if what Deku's carrying in that massive pack could be swapped out. Make it lighter on the nerd's back when they leave. Not that he cares if Deku's back gets sore.
He scans the mountain to get a quick estimate how long he thinks it should take them to get to the campsite. They should easily make it before nightfall with plenty of light to use unless Deku starts seriously lagging behind, but Katsuki's got enough confidence in the nerd to be sure he can make it without slowing down much or frequent stops for rest.
A little grin appears on his mouth, the challenge ahead of them getting him excited. Now he just hopes Deku doesn't talk the whole way there...] You ready for this, nerd? Last chance to back out. Better not have forgotten anything.

rand al'thor, wheel of time
005
[ Should she be projecting her voice so loudly in an area of wilderness she is unfamiliar with, where it's entirely possible there are strange and dangerous life forms of all shapes and sizes who might be drawn to them from it? Probably not. But does she care? Absolutely not, because it's so great!!
Raw enthusiasm practically radiates off of her as she does a little spin in the patch of valley where they've found a good spot to set up. The grass isn't too tall, the mountains surround them, there's a river flowing nearby, the sky is clear — all details she takes in as she slowly lifts her gaze, still spinning, before conceding to dizziness and flopping down onto the lightly damp grass, landing on her back with a giggle.
For a moment, she just lies there.
And then Tendi is propping herself up on her elbows, looking right back up at Rand. ]
Do you get to do stuff like this all the time? [ There is a sense of awe, of wonderment in her voice; possibly only diluted by the fact that she is relentlessly optimistic and enthusiastic and always delighted by pretty much every single new experience ever. ] I can't believe it out here. It's so pretty.
