You were maybe having a pleasant conversation with your friend. Perhaps you simply asked a stranger for the time. Or if you're one of the rowdier folks around town you might have been tripping with your foot that jerk from the office you hate so much. Whatever the reason, you find yourself  now handcuffed to that person, immediately, for no reason!

The handcuffs are sturdy, strong, magical if you so wish, with no keyhole in sight. The chain's length is up to player discretion, and the only way to remove them is with a kiss of true love. Or just a kiss. Or a saw. A saw works just fine.

[It wasn't every day that the God of Wisdom found herself in handcuffs. In fact, Nahida could confidently say this was the first time she'd ever been in handcuffs, and the thought of a novel experience tickled her.

She would have to thank the Traveller when they stopped by next time, for they were the source of this predicament. They had given her a tiny, intricate box as a gift. It was an ancient puzzle toy, not unlike the karakuri boxes still crafted in Inazuma to this day. What had set this toy apart from others was the presence of elemental energy, and the use of time in its complicated solution. Nahida had opted to take the box with her during her walks around the city while she waited for the last piece of the box to slide into place.

She hadn't anticipated that moment to coincide with her accidentally bumping into the star of the Zubayr Theater, and for the subsequent jolt to cause the handcuffs nestled within to pop out and clamp over both of their wrists.

There was no key within the box, nor instructions on how to unlock the handcuffs.
