As far as the roll of the dice of fate can fall, you could have scored worse: you're a witch (or wizard, magician, mage, what have you), and power flows through your veins. Still, before you can use this ability or don your black hat, you must pay the carnal price of this world, no matter your personal feelings on the matter. Fortunately, sex is plentiful for those who need to craft their spellwork. You might as well enjoy what you do.

(the moment is clear in her mind: sitting at that robust mahogany desk more familiar to her than even her own bed, tapping an index finger rhythmically against the first page in the open file before her. the first time integra had seen his face, read his name and the list of sins beneath it. racketeering. smuggling. assault.

witchcraft.

it was for the fourth item that the file crossed her desk at all. it needed to be investigated. too often those who dabbled in the occult knew not the dangers of the dalliance. but tommy shelby? he knew. it was in the family, in his blood and mired deeply with eastern europe tradition. as weeks passed that file expanded. hellsing needed to act; a man so burdened with ambition, even mundane ambition, should not wield magic. ambition and magic both corrupt.

she forgets that. forgets it when she is sitting at his dinner table sipping wine and playing the role of a noblewoman on business once more, when there is a cigarette shared between them, when his gaze as deep and engulfing as any ocean washes over her, when the firelight from the hearth casts long, angled shadows over cheeks and a jaw sculpted by god himself. it's a spell as powerful as any, tommy shelby's presence.

maybe it actually is a spell because it's the devil is in her hands when her fingers curl into his lapel and she yanks him close. the devil is in the space between their lips and he's there when they crash together. and again. and again. there's a gun in her purse long-forgotten between his aftershave that fills her senses and the roughness of calloused hands that cup her face.)

[His family were healers, long ago. It's said they used their powers in moderation and purely for the good of others. What could be wrong or corrupting in that?

Only he should've suspected it would be different in him, cynical and hard-hearted as he is. Prone to lust and sin. The power he has came to him in pitch darkness, on the verge of death. He would've paid in blood if that's what it took, but no. All he has to do is what he would've done anyway: fuck.

There was a time when sex would quiet his ambition. Now, sex and power feel entwined, giving him no respite from either. Addicting him to both. He needs more than ever. From the beginning, he's wanted Integra more than the deal she offers. He's wanted her since the moment he laid eyes on her. Even more because he knows she's been lying to him. Brave of her to try. He would've liked to seduce her without the help of magic, but the lie forces his hand.

There is a spell. The spell was meant to lower her inhibitions. He thought it would make her honest about her intentions—in a way, it has. It's beyond him to know whether the magic is stronger than he thought, or whether it was twisted by his own desires. He's not as troubled by it as he should be. She pulls him to her, bolder than his usual conquests, and he feels no guilt at all.

One searing kiss after another, his tongue delves into her mouth. His chest heaves with every lost breath when they separate for the third time. His left hand strays from her cheek to grab a fistful of her long blonde hair. A loose hold, guiding her against his mouth for another hungry kiss.

Soon his knuckles tighten at the back of her head, pulling her away by those blonde strands. Rougher than she was when she decided to want him. If he didn't hold her back himself, he'd be kissing her still. The desire is clear in his heavy-lidded eyes, even as he sounds stern.]

Tell me why you're here. The truth, this time.

(she should stop. it's a nagging thought in the back of her mind readily drowned out in the wake of the swipe of his tongue across the seam of her mouth, in the readiness her lips part for him. integra is to be chaste, above reproach, pure by the standards of robed men at their altars. an easy charge, she'd thought. she was too busy to bother among other reasons.

and then that bloody file came across her desk.

tommy's lust feels as a roaring fire, crackling through every heated kiss and every touch against her skin. he'll consume her. and she'll let him.

he pulls her away before she is made breathless, demanding her attention and her honesty. there's a thrill to it, to the way he commands her as no other man would dare.)

(she's leaning in, fighting his grip in a fistful of her hair, seeking out his lips with a hunger unlike any other she has known. it's an ache, a need so deep and raw that integra knows it will not tolerate being ignored.)

(it isn't that integra would not happily, enthusiastically bed her husband. far from it. they’ve been wed for several weeks now and though they are no longer on their honeymoon...well, their is still an heir to make. and that through kiritsugu's diligence (and patience) integra is learning to embrace her sexuality.

but for the sake of his magic? well, that strikes her as odd.)

( Is this really so surprising? It's not uncommon for this to happen to a magus from time to time, when they use up so much of their mana that it causes an internal drain on their body. Put bluntly: he'd been so tired, sluggish, and to an extent, irritable. Kiritsugu preferred not to be a burden to his wife where he could, but after having to fend off a vampire earlier that week, he'd been left with few options.

With his forehead planted firmly against his palm, he allows himself to collapse against their bed, sprawled out somewhat comically. )

If your vampire would do his job, I wouldn't be in this position.

( Was that rude? He made no attempt to hide his distaste for Integra's servant in the basement, having been left to wonder if Alucard left Kiritsugu on his own purposefully. )

It can be replenished through a ritual using sex, though if you are uncomfortable with that, I suppose I could ask Maiya instead.

Next time perhaps you should stay alongside Seras, (she suggests briskly, though his snapping is forgiven. integra perches with arms crossed on the edge of the bed beside him.) I don't expect you to go out on missions either. You could stay home.

(at the mention of maiya she bristles wordlessly---a shift that he might notice if he pays attention. integra rather likes maiya as an individual; she would not have offered her a place at the manor if she didn't. but knowing about the relationship she has with kiritsugu...well, it has been a difficult pill to swallow for someone raised to accept only monogamy. she understands the reasoning, yes, but the topic still doesn't entirely sit well with her.)
