Are you not embarassed?
SHAME YOUR CHARACTER! the meme

Familiar with the concept of 'pet shaming'? Basically, your pet does something bad, you give them a sign, and take a picture so the whole world knows their sins. Google has many examples. Now. We do this for our characters.
○ Post with your character! Name and Canon in the header.
○ DO NOT LEAVE YOUR COMMENT BLANK. BLANK COMMENTS WILL BE DELETED.
○ A magical invisible fairy has placed a shame sign on your character of whatever terrible (or terribly embarrassing) thing your character is guilty of. Write what this sign says in the comment section.
○ Tag out! Make a new friend! And by make a new friend I mean make fun of them!
Just living their best lives <3
It's a strange thing to have an engine instead of a heart, to have some foreign thing in the space where flesh and blood should be, the crank of gears instead of the pulse of muscle. In the almost searing void of it, sometimes she feels what she thinks she would, the jump her heart would have made if she was startled, the pound it should drive with when excited, rather than the chug of Infernal machinery. She feels a bit of that phantom sensation now, faced with that genuine smile from Wyll, especially as he continues to speak.]
Just goes to prove my point, really. [There's a slightly softer, sheepish edge to her grin, but it's no less honest for it.] Lots of people would, especially in your situation but you decided to take a stand instead. Just goes to show what a good person you are. Really, I couldn't think of a better person to know.
being heroic, causing destruction, making children smile across the sword coast! what a duo...
Wyll knows that time is short, for both of them. The engine reminds him of that too. Why hold out on letting Karlach know just how much he cherishes her, when it could be too late all too soon?]
Ah, lots of people wouldn't, either. I know you'd have done the same thing, if it was me on the end of your blade and cornered. ...Even if you had better chances of taking us all on than I would've alone, but that's beside the point. We're birds of a feather, you and I. Two people trying to make the best of what we've gotten. Nothing more or less, don't you think?
and you know they've saved at least one cat out of a tree along the way
Oi, now there's nothing 'less' about you, that's for damn sure. [Was there a point being made here, or are they just hopelessly praising each other in a self-fulfilling cycle of positive reinforcement?] But you're not wrong. Life's too short, yeah? Nothing for it but to live the best we can and all.
perhaps five. and three dogs are now following them.
[His smile warms, softens, and he comes out from behind the mirror at last, if only to stand beside her as close as can be managed with minimal discomfort, and point at their reflections.]
A fine sight, that. A damned fine sight.
Karlach has named all three and spoils them incessantly
Luckily it wouldn't take long for you to see reason, and we'd get on splendidly after that.
[There's an urge, when Wyll shifts around to stand with her, to tilt her head and bump horns with him. A thing resisted with long practice, given she didn't want to harm him, but the want to share affection was still there, enough that her head tilted briefly before she caught up with herself, giving the reflection an approving nod.]
Look at that fine, upstanding pair.
are they clive 2, clive 3, and clive 4. i gotta know what she named em
ever so gently and quickly, quickly enough to not risk the layers of keratin shielding the soft flesh and blood core in his horns
knocks the tips of their horns gently together.]
We're veritable pillars of the community, are we. The Gate'll never know how she missed us until we return.
WOW NO, it's Pepper, Pixie, and Pearl- and the ribbon snake hiding out in her tent is Tassel.
You... [The next laugh out of her was a bit breathless, a little watery, but genuine all the same, a warmth kindling in her that had nothing to do with the engine and everything to do with the kind gesture Wyll had offered.] Absolutely right. We're nothing if not absolutely vital to the Gate, they'll sing our praises to know we're back.
i love that she really is just a magical girl. queen of my heart and my soul, karlach cliffgate ;_;
[Idly, as he admires their reflections (and makes note to not look at her too long, lest he embarrass her for noticing those watery eyes):] ...I know you impressed upon me that horns need oiling, but with how you run...Do you have any extra maintenance that needs tending to? I'd be glad to start chipping in and learning proper procedure from an old hand, if you'd let me. And what are friends for, if not reaching places you can't on your own?
Does that make Wyll her Tuxedo Mask?
[Not that she's overly upset by that- she's a big lady, which on it's own can be intimidating, let alone with how bombastic she can be. It's not everyone's cup of tea, and she's quite content with the friends she's gathering in the meanwhile.]
Oh the horns? [She blinks, free hand lifting to touch one consideringly. Given the implications to helping with that sort of grooming... she should just say no. Wyll has no idea what it means, it would be the gentlewomanly thing to turn him down. And yet...]
For me it's mostly extra oiling- the heat and all saps the moisture right out pretty quickly. Beyond that it's just minor stuff- if a horn gets gouged or cut, you gotta knock off the edges a little. Stuff doesn't get wedged in that way, and it keeps the outside layers from getting chipped off in a way that can make things worse, you know? Doesn't hurt or anything to leave if it's not too deep, but it can definitely itch some, especially if you get a pebble or something wedged in there.
[She doesn't outright neglect her horns, but Wyll has his own to compare to, and it's clear that she could definitely be taking better care of them, if what she was saying was true.]
she does all the hard work and then he comes in, strikes a pose, and runs away again. so yeah
...That's very helpful to know. Thank you, Karlach.
[But. But! That thoughtful expression turns just the slightest bit sheepish, and his head tips away just to be safe.] But I mean to earnestly offer to help you maintain your horns, not just learn how to maintain mine.
Wyll like 'why does my eldritch blast suddenly look like roses?'
[A faint flush, hidden easily enough in her complexion, given away by a faint flicker of embers from the vents in her shoulder as she glances towards him. Surely he didn't realize the implications in that sort of offer, the importance of who a tiefling trusted to take care of their horns like that?]
Might be kinda dangerous, heat and hands and all... [It wasn't a no, though. She just didn't want Wyll getting himself hurt trying to help her out!]
it's LOVE and SHOUJO MAGIC, wyll-boy! same as karlach's axe being pink with hearts and gems!!
[He clears his throat, still not meeting her gaze; he can hear her vents puffing softly with those embers, and knows that, perhaps, he's been caught out. So it goes.] And I would only apply a little at a time.
If you'd let me. And I'd let you help with mine, since I doubt you'd let me earn a favour without being repaid.
It's an offer that doesn't need an immediate answer, but it's extended as long as you're willing to think on it.
Let's be real, Karlach would be *delighted* at her axe being so pretty!!!
And it's so damn sweet that offer, whether or not he really does know what the implications are. But then she's found that just to be how Wyll is, a kindness to him that's just utterly charming. She can't help but chuckle softly, lips pulling to a smile.]
I mean it being you, I might let it slide. But I suppose if you're gonna take all these precautions... it'd be nice.
