It's fair Verona where we set our scene. Or fair fairy tale land. Or fair Tokyo, Japan, or even fair gas station down the road. Whatever the case may be, you know the drill. Two warring families/factions/species/football teams/social classes or whatever else you crazy kids do these days are causing a fuss. Basically, it's hell on the streets. But from this turmoil springs two starcross'd lovers who just met (and they called each other, maybe) have decided that their sides be damned, they're going to work this out and have a love to end all love. Of course, everyone else has their own ideas, and things get a little mixed up in the way. Hey, cheer up though, kids! It's not like you'll both end up dead or anything! RULES Comment with your character and preferences in the header. Reply to others, using the RNG to determine what scene you'll be playing or just do what you want. Respect everybody. Be cool. Be loving. Bonus points for using Shakespearean language. PROMPTS The Lovers Rosaline: The person you adore doesn't even look your way! Oh, no! How can you live? Well, since you're being such a mope, your friends have dragged you out to a party, hoping you'll meet someone new. But what do they know? First Meeting: It's just a chance encounter, but it's changed your life. This person is the most beautiful, most perfect being on the planet, and just looking at them hurts. You have to be with them always. My Only Love, Sprung from My Only Hate: That person you just met and instantly fell in love with? Yeeeeeah, they're supposed to be your mortal enemy. Oops. You Kiss By the Book: Who cares about the feud? You just want to taste those sweet lips. The Exchange of Thy Love's Faithful Love for Mine: One of you isn't so sure this is a good idea. The other is trying to convince them. THE BALCONY SCENE: I don't care how you do it, just do it. You know what I'm talking about. What light through yonder window breaks? Where We Can Be Free: You want your love to run away with you so you don't have to deal with the world's crap anymore. Eloping: Somehow, you've decided to get married. Who did you have to blackmail to do this for you? I Will Lie with Thee Tonight: Awww, making love...I hope you waited till the eloping part for this. I Am Fortune's Fool: Your lover has, because of the feud, committed an atrocity to someone on your side. Can you love them though it, or is your loyalty too strong in the other direction? Is It Yet Morning?: One of you is on the run, so you must be gone and live, or stay and die. Be Not So Long to Speak, I Long to Die: Being parted from your love has driven you to despair. Oh, Happy Dagger: All this has gotten to be too much. You want to stay together, and you can only think of one way. The Others In the Way: You don't approve of this young couple, and you're trying to talk one side out of it by any means necessary - even if this means disowning! Helpers: You believe in peace and want these lovebirds to find happiness. You'll do all you can to see them through. The Third Wheel: You're in love with one of the people involved in the torrid affair, and it pains you to see them in love with someone else, especially someone who will only destroy them. Do you help or hinder? The Neutral: You just want all this fussing and fighting to end.

David can only stand so much formality before his starched uniform collar begins to feel so stiff it chokes. Queen Rose's parties are a miracle of choreography, everyone rehearsed in when to spin their partner and when to sidestep and move on to the next. Everyone, it seems, except him. He feels left-footed, just trying not to tread on toes.

And everyone wants their turn with him. He doesn't like to turn anyone down, but he feels like a liar in the face of their congratulations. They didn't watch heroics on the nightly news, just an act of desperation and a stroke of brilliant, blinding luck. He's a fraud, but he smiles for them anyway, and he's polite, and maybe even charming in some naive way.

He looks for her when he gets the chance. Even through the crowds she's a spot of pure serenity. But he hasn't seen her for a while and his collar's stiff, and his public face is starting to flag. So he tells himself he'll just take a few minutes, only a few, and goes in search of somewhere more serene.

She takes her leave of the party long before she begins to tire; there are only so many conversations with subjects repeating that she can have. Her feet are aching inside the shoes that are meant more for aesthetics than comfort, and the smile she maintains on her features only possesses sincerity for as long as she feels it inside. There's only so many drinks she can have to preserve it, too, without losing control of her greater judgment.

The library is the quietest place, and it isn't the first place many partygoers stray to be alone, so it's here she sits, in a chair in front of the fireplace, putting up her bare feet with a small sigh.

She's so relaxed, slightly buzzing from one too many glasses of champagne, and doesn't hear the door when it opens.

(Hades had been struck with Cupid's arrow. The pain of love is surprisingly strong; he would have been impressed if he hadn't been suffering from its sting. With a taloned hand over his heart, he enters the garden and spies Ganymede. A bitter smile curls his lips.

This is foolish. Apollo might stand a chance with this mortal - or any mortal for that matter. But who could ever love death?)
