Everyone knows the feeling of when you see someone and you know you've seen them before. Isn't that a part of déjà vu? But what if the connection you have with that person goes beyond the superficial recognition of familiarity? Perhaps you were connected once...in the most intimate of ways. Some religions and philosophies believe in reincarnation of souls, and it's said that souls could be reincarnated together - once again to follow out the same path they did before.
Or maybe not. Maybe it could be a second chance for fixing things that went wrong before, like the a tragedy or circumstances keeping you apart. But can you take that chance? Do you even want to?
HOW TO PLAY- Comment with your character, stating preferences and pertinent information.
- Tag around to others and roll the RNG to determine what your scenario will be.
- The first roll determines the parameters of the "past life," the second the parameters of the "present life." The meme is intended to take place in the present, but there's nothing stopping you from playing out flashbacks to the "past."
- Play out the scene!
- WARNING: There will probably be triggers here.
| | A. THE PAST- Medieval: The two of you lived in the middle ages or an equal high fantasy setting. Kings, queens, knights, wizards, your doomed love was set among the sword and shield.
- Feudal Japan: During this time, honor reigned supreme and warriors lived and died by the sword. Perhaps the two of you lived here?
- War: World War I, World War II, World War...III? Whatever the tension was, the two of you weren't living in happy times.
- Not Human: You were gods, demons, monsters, angels - or at least one of you was.
- Sci-Fi: The two of you found love in a world of science and technology...maybe a base on the moon?
- Taboo: In a past life, the two of you were related, yet still somehow fell in love. Or perhaps there was a big age gap, or different social standings. Whatever it was, your affection was "wrong," somehow.
- Intended for Someone Else: One of you was engaged, intended, or taken by someone else.
- Not Allowed: For some reason, you couldn't have your love back then.
- Tragically Cut Short: Somehow, your love ended in tragedy and one of you died.
- Living Happily Ever After: The two of you grew old together, had a family, the whole shebang, and died of old age. As a reward, you get to be with your loved one again.
- WILDCARD or CHOOSE YOUR OWN
B. THE PRESENT- (Not So) First Meeting: You could swear you've seen this person before...but where?
- Need to Be Near You: You don't know why, but you have to be close to this person, to protect them, to love them.
- Memories: You're having memories of your past life and it's freaking you out.
- The Reveal: Somehow, the truth is revealed to you about who you used to be and what you life was like with this person.
- But I'm Taken: Unfortunately, you've already moved on to someone else who doesn't fit into the picture of your past.
- You Have to Be With Me: You're determined to rejoin with your past lover...even if they're not interested.
- He Doesn't See Me: You're afraid your lover only sees the past "you" and not the you who exists now. Are they in love with a memory?
- Madness Ensues: It's getting hard for you to tell which life is the "real" one, the one you have now or the one in the past. Perhaps you only see one way of release: becoming reincarnated again.
- It All Worked Out: The battles are fought, the war is one. You've earned your happy ending in this life and the two of you can live together.
- WILDCARD or CHOOSE YOUR OWN

Eric imagined the worst. His head injury was acting up again. There was no other explanation. He never met the woman before in his life, he didn't even meet her that first night or the nights since. There was an overwhelming sensation when she passed him that became stronger when he caught her scent.
They had a daughter, then a son, and a set of twins before making a permanent decision on birth control. Eric could hear bits and pieces of fierce arguments as well as remember sizzling sex that outweighed all their fighting. No wonder they had four kids when neither were ready to settle down. Regardless, family meant a lot to them. It bound them together.
And they were happy. Harsh fights only seemed to add spice to their lives, even as they grew old. They never fought in front of their grandchildren or their children after one family meeting where the kids voiced how awful the arguing made them feel, questioning the strength of their family. ...With every hour the brunette was in sight, the more his mind conjured.
He avoided a lingering look. Hell, he avoided the woman entirely. What could Eric possibly say that didn't sound crazy? He was also in a relationship, no matter how marred it was at the moment. Over a decade of history between him and Calleigh, he couldn't throw that away for a past life. Besides, the woman had caught his gaze and never said a word.
There was nothing there. Something was wrong with him. He shouldn't have had another drink. His inhibitions were down and he was growing more aroused with every passing second. Eric wanted to greet the woman with a searing kiss and pin her in the backseat of a car or have her ride him while he sat in the driver's seat.
Little did he realize while his eyes were closed as he fantasized, she had walked up to him.

Still, she could feel the man's eyes on her the whole night. It was almost tangible, the strange tension between them. Had they slept together before? Maybe that was it. She wasn't exactly a friend to one night stands, but she had to admit there had been a time or two where she's had a few too many drinks and gotten a little... Adventurous. But she would've remembered hooking up with a guy like him, wouldn't she?
After too long and a few more shots, her curiosity got the better of her. She weaved her way through the crowd towards him, tired of all the looks and the pretending-not-to-look looks and the pretending-to-ignore-each other. It was just a chat, anyway. Harmless. She was happy with Ollie and she wasn't about to go around ruining it, even if there wouldn't be anyone else accountable but herself. Still, as usual, curiosity outweighed any sense of self-preservation or inner warning. She knew him somehow. And she's be damned if she'd let the night pass without figuring out how.
His eyes were closed when she finally made it to him. Like he had some kind of headache, though even then she was certain she's be in trouble if she were a single woman. Leaning her forearms on the bar, she waited a moment for him to pay attention to her, resting her chin on her shoulder and glancing him over a moment. When he didn't respond as quickly as she hoped, she spoke up over the noise of the crowd.
"So were you gonna come say hello or just stare at me the rest of the night?"

Her eyes were what his gaze fixed on the longest, dropping to her lips briefly. "Stare? Was I staring?" Smooth. Real smooth. Eric choose to play off his behavior. Nothing benefited him in coming clean. He had behaved and stayed away a safe distance. She came to him. And if he had any respect for himself or Calleigh, he should send the brunette on her way.
"If I was, it's your fault. I've been in Metropolis for a couple of months and let's just say...I haven't seen any women like you." Eric needed his ass kicked. Or face slapped. He needed to stop. It had been a number of years that he went out and acted like a free agent. He wasn't. Calleigh had been at his side through back to back stupid decisions that upturned their lives and relocated them. Yet...
He couldn't deny the charge he felt that the brunette had come to him. She was met with a smirk that toed the line between boyishly shy and jokingly goofy. His eyes were another story altogether. Brown met brown with an intensity that was anything but innocent. He was suddenly glad that his other method of getting space from Calleigh had been working out.

So she stared right back a moment, leaning the bulk of her weight against the bar and smirking up at him. He was handsome, for sure, but there was something else drawing her to him. Something that went far past familiarity into something... carnal? Intimate? Surely that wasn't it. If it was, she'd be able to recall his damn name, wouldn't she?
A bubble of laughter erupted from her lips at his response and she flagged down the bartender for a beer. "Cute. Have we met? Swear I've seen you before. Did you just move out here?" She shifted to lean back against the bar after she'd ordered, head canting slightly towards him. Very cute. And she was very taken. Not that there was anything to be guilty of here. Yet.

Columbine | Mysterious Mr. Quinn OC

In what world or setting or shape would Harlequin not know his Columbine?
This time, they are in Bath, both dressed in the finest of English fashion, and a waltz has begun to play. Miles away, men and women of a small hamlet grieve for Mrs Denman. Here, the news means nothing. No one cares about such a little trifle. They are, though, enchanted by the young Mister Oliver Drake.
He sits at the piano responsible for choosing the tune, a highly sought after musician once suggested to a maestro by a very particular gentleman named Mr Satterthwaite. The latter is not present. It will be some time before he keeps the same company as Harley Quin. Knowingly, at least. And perhaps it is a mere coincidence that the pianist knew the same person.]
Would you do me the honour? [The question comes as a murmur in her ear, as if the dark young man had not been there a moment ago. Yet, he stands at her side now, arm extended to lead her to the floor.]
no subject
I'd be delighted.
[Where he seems to blend in she does not, she is a beacon of light in the room, and all others are merely moths trailing in her wake. It is interesting then, that when the dark-haired gentleman steals her attention - theirs is also lost. She is happy to be the center of one man's attentions. Especially his.
She places her small hand in his and spins onto the floor with a delicacy that could disarm many. Her smile is twisted and small as she watches him.]

Especially not the dreams of the other man. Those feelings... they weren't imagined. It could only be a memory.
He was forty (though still with the face of a twenty year-old) and running his own bookshop when he spotted the painfully familiar form through the shop window. Wufei froze, staring. Praying he would come in.
no subject
Bookshops were not, generally, a place where Duo Maxwell could be found. Duo, or any incarnation of him for that matter. But there was some draw to this one. He didn't know why, or how - but he wanted to go in. A little exploration couldn't hurt at all, at least not as far as he was concerned, and eventually Duo makes his way inside.
So Wufei will get his wish, a braided young man wandering inside, that impish baby face belying his real age and real origins. He doesn't notice the shop owner, at first, looking at the nearest book shelf to see what kind of selection he could expect, here.
.. Now, who would break the ice?
no subject
"Let me know if you need help finding anything, Duo," he all but blurted out, falling back on the habits of shopkeeper, and not even realizing that the name had slipped out until it was too late.
