inappropriate tension
![]() ![]() The Highly Inappropriate Tension Meme |
Touches. Glances. Sides brushing, so close to each other. The moment is, most likely, quiet, subdued, and calm. Or it could be loud and full of life, right in the middle of a vivacious party. Yet, no matter the case, your blood is pumping - no, nearly boiling with the passion bubbling between you and your companion. Unfortunately, this tension is completely and absolutely out of line. Whether it be the place, the time, your relationship with the person (be that literal relation or power difference, age difference, experience difference, and so on), your own lack of knowledge, or personal convictions, you should not act on any building desires. But here's the thing about tension: it builds. It builds, and it builds, until... Well, even subtlety can come to an inappropriate head. HOW TO PLAY

When the prince left Elyos to learn about other continents, he never expected to meet the man so wrapped in mystery, he might as well be a puzzle box. Any time it seemed like the guy was up to something, Fogado wanted his hands in it- and on Claude himself. He made a point of sliding up to the guy and prodding for information any chance he could, and today was no exception.
"Well if it isn't the duke's heir himself. Is it just me, or do you seem particularly rugged today~? When are you going to let me in that pretty head of yours?"

I did see that you have "age gaps" in your maybe's however, and Vincent is 27 years old in canon-point I take him from so we're looking at a ten-nine year age gap minimum (I'm okay with either P3 or P4AU-ages). Is that okay with you, or would you prefer a character closer to her age-wise?]

There were times when Vincent Valentine felt... unneccesary, in his role as Mitsuru Kirijo's bodyguard. Once upon a time he may have served a purpose, before she'd become a woman capable of looking after herself AND being protected at all times by a guardian far more powerful than he... but these days? The dangers she hunted were ones that a man with a mere firearm could not protect her from. To stay under such circumstances... who was he to think he had anything of value to contribute to her mission?
But whenever he found himself stuck in such thoughts again, he tried to remind himself that it honestly a very simplistic way of looking at things. Mitsuru Kirijo was competent, powerful and capable of many things... but two in harmony beats one in perfection. For all that she was capable of, one should never forget that people need each other, and there were things she too needed help with just like any other person...]
There really isn't any need to call on the staff, miss Kirijo. The... ah, see. These touch-screens are just slow.
[... Although perhaps it weren't THAT many who needed help ordering food from a touch-screen based family restaurant to the... extent, that she did. Because frankly, after all they had been through and in a place this far out, trying to order something on the level of her usual meals or finding a restaurant even capable of that, was a fool's errand. So... time to slum it. At least she had some familiarity with fast food so she could pick something she was interested in. Hence he didn't need to help her with that- all he had to do was just help her get used to the... screen... oh no!]
Ah, wait-
[Before he could think, he had done it. He had reached out to take her hand and stop her from pressing the "finalize order" button, and you had best believe he pulled that hand back as if he'd been burned by touching her. Because while he had an explanation...]
You... had double-clicked. Ordered two drinks. Remove one of them, first.
[... Such a terrible breach of professional etiquette could not be allowed to pass.]
perfect!
[ The custom...
The truth is that Mitsuru Kirijo probably doesn't need a bodyguard, in the most general sense. But it's also glaringly true that despite all of her strength, special abilities and intelligence she could still display a staggering level of naivety with certain every day activities that most would take utterly for granted.
She had gotten better. She didn't need to ask whether or not to use utensils when eating certain foods or generally how to eat them in general at least. That is but one example of her improved knowledge of the world outside of her own gilded existence. But that's not to say there aren't still things that surprise her or present her with a challenge. Touch screens to order food... that's a new one. Certainly not something she sees in the places she tended to eat at. It seems so... impersonal. Although that's probably a relief given her confusion over the vast array of choices and varieties of combinations. Surely the kind of simple hamburger she had tried before would suffice?
It's time like this that Mitsuru is most grateful for the presence of Vincent Valentine. Ever at her side during these tricky to navigate situations for her. Situations that would likely be laughable to the average person but he's always patient with her, always willing to calmly explain anything that she simply has zero familiarity with. Like touch screens for ordering food.
And truthfully, even if she were suddenly to learn everything there is to learn about this stuff... well, she would still want him present.
She spends a little time debating what to order, deliberating exactly what she thinks might actually taste good, until she becomes conscious of the fact that she's probably taking just a little longer than the average consumer. At which point she flies through the rest of the process (or as much as these slow devices will allow anyway) just so she can get to that final button, not realising that she had indeed clicked twice on her choice of drink option.
That is when Mitsuru feels the unexpected touch of Vincent's hand on her own. It's brief, he snatches it away almost immediately. Yet it's not brief enough for the redhead not to momentarily feel as though they're both frozen during that time, while she contemplates the warm touch of his larger hand on hers. A not unwelcome one she feels. He snatches it away as if she had physically burned him and it feels entirely inappropriate that she finds herself mourning that fact for the briefest of moments.
She turns her head to look at him, her mahogany eyes soft and questioning for a moment before she settles back into a more neutral expression. ]
Perhaps I meant to order two... Did you not want something as well?
[ She's well aware that he's on the job, but he can still eat and drink with her regardless. Her staff aren't robots- well, most of them aren't anyway. That aside... why isn't she immediately reprimanding him for what he just did?
Just not in the queue she tells herself, they can address it in a moment. Making a scene wouldn't be appropriate... ]
