On The Run Meme

Maybe something went wrong, or maybe it's just another normal day in your life, but you've found yourself on the run. Did you commit a crime, or cross the wrong person, or simply end up in the wrong place at the wrong time? Whatever the reason behind your situation is, your goal is the same: don't get caught.

How To Play

• Comment with your character, and if you're feeling ambitious put in a bit of a starter. Who are you running from and why?

• Respond to others, either as their partner on the run or part of the force chasing them.

• Have epic adventures, fall in love, utterly fail and get caught. See how it goes!
• RNG for some extra unpredictable fun.

Scenarios
1. Running from the cops. You broke the law, whether it was shoplifting or murder, and now you've got a warrant out for your arrest.
2. Attracted the wrong attention. You made someone angry, or obsessed, or otherwise drawn their ire and now they're after you.
3. Somewhere or somewhen. You've ended up in a place and/or time in which you're not welcome.
4. Wildcard!

Relationships
1. Friends (or more.) You've known each other for awhile and are on good terms, so hopefully you can rely on each other in this situation.
2. Circumstantial allies. Strangers, enemies, or otherwise you've ended up in this mess together, and it might benefit you both to cooperate.
3. Opposite sides. One of you is the runner, and the other is pursuing. Which will prevail?
4. Wildcard!

Complications
1. Late to the party. How many people did you piss off? In addition to whoever was already after you, someone else now is as well. Maybe they'll take each other out?
2. Confrontation. They've found you, and it's come down to a fight.
3. Disguise. You can't evade them, but you can hope they won't recognize you. Better be a good actor!
4. Wildcard!

It's been a long week, in any case. A mission gone awry means Rosinante has temporarily shed his disguise and is booking it from island to island on a little dinghy. It's here, wherever here is - there's a stain on his map that makes it too damn hard to read - that he's stopped for food and supplies.

Maybe finding out where "here" is would be helpful.]

Hey, kid. You know where this is, or where a guy could get a smoke?

[He ran out an island or two back and his headache is going to kill him sooner than his pursuers will, at this rate.]

[He just has to keep a low profile, he'd decided. He's going to duck outside just long enough to buy his next meal. As long as he keeps his hood up, nobody will notice him. Those stupid wanted posters look nothing like him anyway. Right? Right.

Everything will be fine.

He repeats to himself for the umpteenth time when the tallest guy in the whole damn marketplace picks him out of the crowd in two seconds flat.

He freezes.

Shitfuck.

No, no. It's okay. He just has to keep his cool, and-]

[He shrugs. He's used to playing dumb, and this is a useful time to do so. He even pairs it with a big wide grin, sheepish and kind of vapid, at least until the pang in his head comes back. He winces and rubs at his temple.]

Sorry. Headache. It's been a long day.

[The guy seems nervous, he can tell that easily enough, and it's a little odd. Yeah sure, he was approached by someone he doesn't know who's asking kind of inane questions, but that level of jumpiness comes from someone who really isn't enjoying it. Well, the kid's in luck - Rosinante has bigger problems than working out why some lone individual is nervous as all hell, like he's just been caught stealing something important.

... He hasn't stolen something, right? Doesn't look like he has. Just looks like a fairly normal kid, just a jumpy one. Maybe he needs a moment.]

[Wow. There's... There's nothing he can say to that, is there? Not when the guy just goes along with the insult.

One uncomfortably long silence later, he takes a step back and coughs into his glove.]

Oh. Uh, the general store's one street down and to the left. They'll probably have something to smoke there. Plus, the store's named after the island.

[A clatter can be heard in the distance, and he tenses, checking to make sure his hood is still firmly smothering his hair. His eyes dart left and right like a super totally innocent person's would in any similar situation.]

And if you hear any weird ass gossip about murders or some shit, just ignore it. Everybody's just really bored around here.

[Okay! Perfect! Flawless delivery!

Task complete, Rudo turns to bolt down a side street.]

[You know, for a second he was content to shrug and leave and go check out the store. He almost does it. He's so close to turning and walking that way.

And then, then this kid just says that and bails? Seriously?]

Hey, wait-!

[This sounds like something he probably should at least follow up on?? Bored does not equate to gossip about murders, damnit. On the run or not, he's not going to just let that go. So he takes off after the kid, and it doesn't take long for him to start to catch up with those long legs of his.]

What are you talking about, what murders?

[If you are a fellow sword, it could be because their cover has been blown during a reconnaissance mission or perhaps have to retreat during a mission for some reason?]

[ he could be running from the cops, with a circumstantial ally or opposite side pursuer. or he could be the one pursuing, on the hunt for his next prey. note that he's a hitman so most likely he's aiming to kill (though he could just be trying to capture and deliver to his employer for a lighter scenario). whatever else you'd like to throw out! info in journal, ota. ]

[You'd think he would be less identifiable to every Overseer as a human, but no. Turns out a lot of them recognize him on sight, despite how improbable his just existing is. He probably shouldn't have spent the last hundred years or so antagonizing all of them constantly.]

[ An Imperial conjurer with a nose for trouble, he's equally likely to have stepped through the wrong portal, pissed off the wrong people or managed to run into a surprise fugitive. Happy to use prose or brackets, can AU him into a modern setting. ]
