Eeh..? Oi, y'okay, Mami-san? Y'look like y'got somethin' on yer mind...

[Maybe if she says what it is, he can help! Or at least help to cheer her up.]

Huh? [Mami blinks, shaking her head to wake herself from her reverie.]

Oh, it's nothing! [She waves her head as if she was waving the notion away.] I'm quite all right, Tetsuo-kun. I just... remembered something.

[She's not quite ready yet to divulge what she was thinking about. For now, Mami shifts gears, playing as the perfect hostess.] Please, help yourself to some more cake!

[She gestures to the cake stand siting on her counter with a smile, her face flushed pink.]

[Tetsuo ruffles his hair sheepishly, but answers her with the same warm, sunny grin he usually has for her.]

O-oh, well.. if yer sure I ain't puttin' you out or nothin'...!

[He hesitates a moment before tentatively reaching to serve himself a bit more of the cake, not wanting to take too much, but obviously enjoying it. He glances up from the cake, then down at it again, poking tentatively at the piece he just gave himself.]

And, uh... yanno... I don't wanna pry inta nothin' I shouldn't, but... well, just... if I can do anythin' ta help with whatever it is, I mean, yanno I'd be happy ya do whatever I can for ya, yeah?

Ee-.. did, uh, did I say somethin' weird..?

[Tetsuo's pretty sure that must be a look of friendly amusement. ...maybe even "affection," though that's way more than he's about to just go and assume without ~~blatant enough~~ evidence ~~to get through his thick skull~~. Besides, it's not like he's a stranger to foot-in-mouth disease, and she doesn't look upset, so he just grins and ruffles his hair sheepishly.]

[Snort.]

You're always saying something weird. [He's getting an affectionate punch on the shoulder, her expression sobering.]

[Gwen had learned to push people away and not let them in due to the enormous wall she had put up after she killed her Peter Parker. Accident or not, it led her to isolate herself, building up in her mind that she was simply not meant to have people to care deeply on a personal level.

Who knew all it took for those shields to come down was meeting ~~some himbo~~ Tetsuo? Loud, brash, but well-meaning and sincere. Gwen can at least admit to herself now she needs more people like him in her life.]

Not that it's a bad thing. [She says with a shrug.]

[Tetsuo huffs at that comment and the nudge of that punch, but laughs it off no less cheerfully. It's not like he can really call that unfair, after all. He ducks his head bashfully, fidgeting with his hair still, although it's already such a perennial mess it doesn't really change anything.]

I mean, I don't wanna... yanno, uh... weird ya out or nothin'...

[He can't help but redden and falter a little at that smile she's still giving him, even if he's worried about reading into it too much.]

HAH!

[Gwen guffaws at his reaction, her hand coming up to rest on his shoulder as she steadies herself from laughing so hard.]

Oh, trust me, Tetsuo. It would take a lot to weird me out.

[She's a costumed vigilante (with spider powers), with a working knowledge about a multiverse, and currently on the run from other Spider-people. Gwen's life is already way past weird, to say the least.]

[Tetsuo can't help but redden just a bit at her hand there--not just the touch, but the subtle hint of trust in using him for support--and he huffs, chuckling sheepishly.]

Oi! C'mon, you're th'one who was starin' at me!

[It's because he said or did something she found weird, right? ...presumably? Sure, she has a pretty unusual life, but there must be relatively mundane things she'd find weird, right? Or at least uncomfortable, and he definitely doesn't want that, either.]

I just... I mean, I'm just sayin'... I wanna have yer back, an' not give ya another somethin'a stress 'bout, so...

[That, and he'd really like her to think well of him, maybe even fondly if that not too wild a thought, and not see him just as a weirdo, obviously.]
