[It was just about closing time at Café Leblanc. Business had been pretty steady for the better part of the day, but very few people ever came in this late. Sojiro had already left for the night and most of Ren's chores had been completed hours ago. Of course, there were a few things that still needed to be taken care of, stuff he could no doubt finish up now given the lack of business at this hour. Yet for whatever reason, he was taking his sweet time to finish up the last few things on his to-do list. Almost like he was expecting a customer to walk in this late.
When the door opens and the bell rings, Ren doesn't even look up from the glass he's cleaning. After all, he already knows who it is. He can tell from the sounds alone; from the way she opened to door to the sound the floorboards make as she draws closer to the counter.]
Good evening, "Miss Lily".
[It's a few seconds later before he looks up, having finished the glass and setting in down in front of her with a smile.]
[ "Miss Lily" settles into her customary seat right in front of the barista working behind the counter. In some ways, she's a creature of habit. Less so in others. For example, her coffee order is the same every time she visits. Yet, the route she takes to get to Café Leblanc depends on the day and what she does during it. It depends on distractions and if the cat roaming the street comes to greet her. Once she's situated, her glasses are pulled away from her face, and she tugs her hair free of its band to shake out her gold hair. Her fingers run through to the ends.
His smile is met with one of her own. ]
Good evening to you, Mr. Amamiya.
[ Zelda returns politely with green eyes dancing. The flush of her cheeks and the ease of conversation reveals that today has been a good day. Or maybe it's getting better. ]
Mm. I will, if it's not too much trouble. Although, you do close soon, don't you? Are you certain you should be serving me this late?
[Despite the simplicity of the disguise, Ren is not so proud that he'd deny it legitimately fooled him. Not now, of course, but for the first few times they'd met, back when "Miss Lily" had first started frequenting the Café Leblanc. Though he also does find it hilarious looking back on it, given his identity as "Joker" and how similarly obvious his disguise might seem to some. Though to be fair, he does make efforts to remain hidden. And even then, few would believe some nobody working at a café could be anything but. Just like how Ren would never have considered that royalty could be drinking coffee right under his noise.
Life was funny like that.
Ren smiles back at her, eyes fluttering a bit as he drinks in her beauty. Of course, she was still beautiful even in disguise, but he preferred this Zelda. The true Zelda. Even if they were still playing parts at the moment. His eyes linger for perhaps a bit too long, gazing into her own, but he does manage to get a hold of himself in a somewhat timely fashion.]

[ During "Miss Lily"'s first foray into the café proper, she was exhausted from two days without much sleep. With research so close to an innovation, she had forgotten rest to pursue answers. Leblanc happened to be the first coffee house that reached her nose as she all but stumbled through the chiming door and into a seat at the empty bar.
Back then, it was around closing time, too. Ren was as hospitable as he is now, although he wasn't as privy to her usual drink. That welcoming disposition, despite the time, brought her back a second time. She was better for conversation with a few winks under her belt. Far more coherent. Far more apologetic when she came in at a reasonable hour and she didn't occupy the bar by her lonesome. Like someone looking to drink their troubles away with a bartender willing to listen to their woes.
Things have certainly changed since then. Life is funny, indeed.
Zelda doesn't haunt any bars or coffee houses, so Ren is the only barista (she knows of) that gives her such goo goo eyes. She resists smiling wider and instead clears her throat. ]
Later, perhaps. [ "Best customers." What a flatterer. ] Is there anything else you had on hand in case I decided to drop by?

There's something fascinating and captivating about how he navigates behind the counter. A maestro with his orchestra perhaps. He's been here for a long time. He's been doing this for a long time. He makes it look so easy and fluid as he seamlessly works. She can't help but stare with her own ogling eyes.
When he's done, Zelda sits up a little straighter and attempts to appear like she hasn't been staring at him the entire time by fiddling with her glasses. Curiosity fills her eyes as he leaves the area behind the counter and approaches her with her drink. ]

[Ren makes no obvious indication as to whether or not he's aware that Zelda spent the last few minutes staring at him while he worked. Does he know? Does he not? It's always tough to say. Ren usually has an air about him that he knows more than he lets on, though it's usually subtle enough that most people don't pick up on it. It's anyone's guess one way or the other, but if he did/does know about it, he would/does think it's cute. But just about everything Zelda does is cute, so nothing unusual there.
The kiss is easy enough to break, though it's clear that Ren was perhaps a bit disappointed. He loves the feel of her lips against his; her skin against his hands. It's intoxicating. Hell, even just being near her is. Standing so close, feeling her breath send shivers up his spine, perfume delighting his senses, and the light brushes of her lips teasing his. He can already feel his blood flowing southward. Nobody could get him going like Zelda could.]

And she does normally have good reactions to them. A flat look crosses her face or if they're especially terrible, then her lips twitch as she holds back her laughter. She then sighs at him, "Ren."
There's a sigh now, but it's not for one-liners. It's for his embrace and the pleasure of physical affection. Today was a long day, too. Not two days long with no sleep but she melts into his hold and slides her fingers into his hair to hold him to her.
[Honestly, her reactions are half the reason he does it. Though he is rather proud of himself for stopping her before she could give one. Not as proud as he would be to actually get her to laugh, however. He's gotten close more than a few times, but a princess is quite adept at maintaining composure. [There are a few minutes left before Leblanc closes for the night. It's tempting to close up shop early. He knows nobody else is going to pop in. Sojiro probably wouldn't even chew him out that much, if at all. Still, he keeps the door unlocked until the very last minute, taking care of whatever small chores need doing before closing time. Every table & chair is wiped down, every dish & utensil put in its place, with the floor swept and the carpets vacuumed. Once closing time finally arrives, Ren locks the door and rolls up the carpets, putting them away.
Ren moves like a phantom as he does the tasks, moving so naturally it's as if he's going off of muscle memory alone. Not a single movement is wasted as he goes about his work in the front of the café. Not much changes when he disappears into the back, outside of being much harder to see. The coffee machine needs sections taken apart, cleaned, replaced, and then put back together and other appliances need similar attention and care. All in all, it takes him about a half hour to finish, after which he emerges from the kitchen. A bit wetter (thanks to the the sink) and more tired than he was before, but even happier.]
