PROMPTS:

1) TOLD TO. You've been ordered to be with this person. Is it orders, from your boss? Your commander? Your king? Some faceless voice on the other side of that creepy security camera? Did the other person order you, or are they a victim too?

2) LAST PEOPLE ON EARTH. The species needs to be repopulated. So you better get to it, whether it's a match arranged by the government or just the two of you out in the middle of nowhere.

3) ARRANGED MARRIAGE. Congratulations, you're married to someone you've never met! It's probably a good political or social match. Now go in a room and make us some babies!

4) SEX POLLEN. You've been infected! Or contaminated. You're ragingly horny, and the only way you can survive is to let off some of that pressure. Hopefully inside someone else.

5) RITUAL. It's a religious rite, for fertility. Or maybe aliens made you do it.

6) REWARDS. Sex, and then you'll get what you want, whether you're a prostitute looking for cash, or a prisoner who just wants to unlock that door or disarm these beeping collars/anklets/what-have-you.

7) OWNED. You've been bought at a market, and now you're a slave for someone you don't even know. And looks like they'll make some demands on your body...

8) INEQUALITY. Perhaps one of you is very high standing, and the other is low. Or one of you is old, and the other young. Maybe a teacher-student relationship, or a director-actress.

9) DEADLY ROMANCE. You wish you could have this romance; you love this person, but you can't be together. You know that this romance will kill you, or ruin you, or have you banished, and so you have to say no. Too bad they're not listening.

10) WILD CARD. For whatever scenario you'd like to play!

She doesn't question how she got on Section 31's radar. It'd be more of a shock if she ever wasn't — an ex-Borg liberated in the Delta Quadrant, raised by Maquis, rejected by Starfleet and bitterly disillusioned after the destruction of her adopted son.

It's arrogant, verging on self-destructive, to operate alone in the lawless former Neutral Zone while inexorably equipped with valuable technology and sensitive tactical information.

Since losing Icheb, she's been more careful with her trust, but not careful enough.

Lorca doesn't have to do much. If anything, it's what he doesn't do. She metes out frontier justice on a backwater planet, and he just looks the other way.

After the third time, in light of his apparent disinterest in taking her into custody, she reacts by pushing him up against a wall and kissing him hungrily. Her lips are plush but it's a hard kiss, forceful and seeming to expect force in return. One fist balls in his clothing, over his chest, while the other hand spreads fanlike over his shoulder. It's a calculated application of pressure, not her full strength. Her mimicry of an unaugmented human who means business.

Her own clothing's of Romulan make, utilitarian, relaxed fit, slightly threadbare in dark and neutral colors. Couldn't be more different from the skintight dermaplastic garments he's probably seen as a matter of record and laughed at.

She's not a tough read. She's resigned to a difficult life. Her guilt will see her settle for less than she deserves in every aspect. A lifetime of lovers' hands nervously avoiding her external implants. A lifetime of believing and being made to believe there's some compromise inherent in being with her, an involuntary hysterectomy just one of many things to make her feel inadequate.

She thinks she's springing this on him. She thinks he might take some convincing. He'd be doing her the favor. She's repulsive, but if he'd be so good as to overlook her obvious deficiencies, she'll make it worth his while.

Spock made every conscientious attempt to avoid offending the locals. She was attentive, polite, and not given to displays that would be considered uncooth, so she had been doing quite well for the duration of the mission. The Illusians were not a particularly violent society and Spock's rigid commitment to good etiquette meant that no complications were expected.

Captain Pike had been called to investigate a natural phenomenon on the far side of the system but, fortunately, the second contact team would be able to retrieve her during their supply drop. It was two days spent in pleasant company on a scenic garden world, Spock was not terribly put out by being left behind.

The Farragut arrived in time for a local holiday, one celebrating the blooming of the native wildflowers. Given the astonishing breadth of floral species on this planet, Spock was unsurprised to find that more than a few of the Farragut's crew had come down to spectate. She had not made the acquaintance of many of the crew of the Farragut, but Lieutenant Kirk was a familiar face.

It seemed reasonable that, if he had come down to view the ceremony, she should invite him to what the locals assured her was the ideal viewing spot.

"Apparently the spectacle is quite dramatic," Spock explained as they walked.

The streets were festooned with decorative garlands and Illusian locals were in high spirits, hurrying toward the riverside past them. There was a platform just above the riverside, attached to the council chambers, where the western wind was reported to carry the scent of the flowers from miles around. They were headed there.

"As the sun sets the flowers all open in unison and give off a burst of bio-luminescent pollen. There are vast tomes of Illusian poetry regarding the perfume of the flowers, when combined with the sight it's considered a transcendental experience."
