That's a peculiar question... Of course I've worked with people who've needed glasses, some who should have them but don't.

[What with all Cobb's squinting, Eames is sure that the former extractor needed corrective lenses.]

I don't think glasses can say much about someone's perspective on anything, though the way someone wears, or doesn't, can speak leagues about a person.

I meant in terms of what they see. Could a carefully crafted illusion be shattered if it were too crisp for a man with astigmatism? Do you think you have to be accustomed to wearing glasses to naturally bring them along with you?

[He uses careful synonyms, no words that would alert anyone listening in to anything untoward, nothing so obvious as architect or forge or dream.]

Well, that's a loaded question if I ever heard one.

[He muses aloud just to buy him a moment to think. There's some rustling on his end as he turns over in bed. ]

In dreams we aren't really limited by our handicaps, physical or otherwise. So I'm not sure a man with an astigmatism would even be able to tell that the sharp image that he's seeing is an illusion at all until after he wakes up and realizes he wasn't wearing his glasses.

[He thinks he knows why Arthur is talking about this, but can't be quite certain until he gets the man to admit it forthright.]

Was that how you knew you were under the first time? Everything seemed too... in focus and clear?

But is it a handicap if it's simply perspective? I mean, culturally, yes, we'd see it that way, but... because I'm hinting at the opposite. The constant criticism I get is that my work is over-sharp, crystal, a little too pristine. Even when I make wasteland they get called 'crisp.'

I'd figured it was a personality issue.

[Like the way he's currently inspecting apples, now, selecting the nicest fruit to add to his cart.]

But I have 20/15 vision, and that might actually be the problem. I've been able compensate, over the years, but I'd never quite understood why it was happening so consistently to begin with. Maybe I should just make fog a specialty?
