Whatever it is, make sure to give it a name and to take good care of it! 10] holiday Happy birthday/New Years/Christmas/Valentine's Day/whatever! It's a very special day that only comes once a year, so make it count! 11] argument Oh, no, who left the stove on... Or maybe it's about why they were out late last night? Either way, there is a lot of tension today, and one of you may or may not be sleeping on the couch tonight. 12] making up It's time to make amends for that fight/divorce/whatever you had before! After all, you love each other... right? 13] surprise, surprise You are feeling rather loving tonight, so you want to remind the other person how much you cherish and appreciate them... if it's by something cute and adorable or hot and sexy is completely up to you. 14] proposal SHUT UP THIS TOTALLY FITS You've been with your other for what feels like forever, and finally you want to tie the knot with them. [ he stops ogling the pretty teats of the girl in the room and cracks his gaze around to her fast as a whip when she shouts. and then he looks back, ignoring jeyne in favour of making sure they've not been discovered. not that he couldn't kill anyone who spotted them, but too many bodies would give cause for the villagers to start a hunt of their own. they feed close to home, he and jeyne, and being driven out of the manor would be an irritant. ]

Shut your mouth.

[ low, firm enough that it's obvious he's angry. if he wants to kidnap her, then he will. ]

Maybe I'll give you to Reek and keep this one for my own. You're looking a little worn around the edges, my sweetling.

[ he says it meanly, but it's not untrue — being ramsay's girl undoubtedly takes its toll, even when jeyne cannot age. ]

[ she goes impossibly stiff, goes still to the point she's not even breathing, and braces for if he's going to hit her. or shove her. it's a miracle jeyne's kept her teeth this long, and she puts them to good use now, gritting them together with weak determination; of he pushes her out of the tree, she won't scream as she falls.

but he doesn't. he calls her worn - listless, drab, unappealing - instead, and she visibly deflates. hangs her head like a kicked dog, diminutive and passive and curling in on herself because years of degradation have not completely steeled her to the barbs of words. why couldn't he just love her? shower her with kisses and compliments in place of kicks and insults? jeyne had long since stopped holding her breath for him to change, hadn't expected any improvement to begin with; she'd just hoped. but hope was stupid and futile here. so she'd adapted instead, and while it didn't feel like she had changed much, and certainly not for the better, it had kept her alive so far. ]

I'm sorry, [ she whispers, though she knows he will hear. ] I'm sorry. I love you. [ reek is at least kind, a treacherous voice sounds in the back of her head, and she barely suppresses a shudder. ] Do whatever pleases you.

[ it's stupid of him to expect anything else from her. he's broken her thoroughly, and he misses that spark. but she is hardy, his arya, and in his kinder moments that's what he loves about her, that she's still with him, instead of getting killed like the rest. ramsay likes girls who scream and fight and die, but there are plenty of them in the world if he wants them. her professions of love and obedience can be irritating, but he'd miss them were she to stop. ]

[ he grins over at her, unkind. those are always ominous words, with ramsay. ]

You kill her. I'll watch from here.

[ a babying, patronizing tone. ]

And if you put on a good enough show, then I won't have to punish you, will I? Hmm?

[ one'd think that, after years, the guilt would have subsided. humans did not feel guilty killing pigs for meat, because pigs were food, just as humans now were. but she held to the quiet opinion that they didn't need to kill the girls they fed on, nor that they had to feed exclusively on young, attractive females. ]

But I [ don't want to. ] am not hungry.

[ a knee jerk response, an old defense, and useless in his company. it never does her any good, yet jeyne keeps parroting the excuse readily when at a loss of anything else to say. even as the threat of one of his many colorful punishments between them, she just shrinks away and shakes her head. ]

[excoriation]

[ ramsay's thick lips twist in thought. ]

Do I have to change that? I could rip your throat out, that would make you hungry.

[ he leans right in, still sweet, his hand coming up to embrace the slender, pale column of her neck. his breath ruffles her hair as he whispers in her ear, the scent of it blood-sweet. ]

You'd have to be quiet about it, though, or else she'll hear us.

Couldn't we just go home? [ she pleads in that tearful, sniveling way she (thinks he likes sometimes) has perfected.

it's more of whining at this point, stalling because what is the point of begging, of going home when they've stalked their prey this far? when they've wandered this far from home? when they're this hungry? she can hear sluggish blood in her ears, and the strong, strong living heartbeat from within the house. ]

I'm - I'm no good at your games, [ she sniffs. ] You're much better than me.
