Date

THE DATE MEME
Here's how it works!
1. Comment to this post with your character. List the character's name, series, and any preferences you might have in the subject.
2. Using the RNG, pick from one of each of the two categories below. (Or if you'd rather pick them yourself, feel free to do that instead!)
3. The two of you are now on a date! The first list is where you took your date. The second list is your current relationship.
4. Have fun!
Locations
1. Restaurant. What better way to spend some romantic time than over food? Maybe you're at the fancy restaurant in town, or maybe you just couldn't afford anything nice, so you're at the nearest diner. Or maybe somewhere in between?
2. Games. The two of you are playing a game somewhere! You could be at a bowling alley, an arcade, a miniature golf course...the possibilities here are countless.
3. The Park. Of course, Mother Nature can provide an excellent atmosphere for romantic bonding! Perhaps you're taking a leisurely stroll through the lush grounds, or maybe you've laid out a blanket somewhere so the two of you could have a picnic.
4. Movie Theater. Or maybe the two of you are sitting next to each other in a dark room, sharing a bucket of popcorn while you're watching the latest film. Did you opt for a horror flick to keep your significant other latched to your arm -- or for you to latch to theirs -- or perhaps something they enjoy, like a sappy romance film or a cheesy action flick? Or maybe you compromised and went to see a sweet romantic comedy.
5. Skating. It's always nice to go skating, right? Are you at a roller skating rink, or did you find a frozen lake and decide to go ice skating? Which one of you needs help (you know at least one of you does)?
6. Beach. Ahh, the beach! Go ahead and set up camp wherever you like! Or if you don't watn to lay down and catch a tan, you can go swimming, or take a walk along the shore! Or if you don't want getting sand on your feet or in your shoes, go hit up the boardwalk!
7. Sunday Drive. Sometimes you don't really have a destination in mind. Sometimes you just want to drive and enjoy the scenery. Well, here's your chance to do that!
8. Amusement Park. There's plenty to do here! Take your date on the Ferris wheel, or the tunnel of love...or something more thrilling, like a roller coaster! Walk around with cotton candy!
9. Dance/Ball. School dance? Prom? Business gala? Whatever it is, you're there, and you've got a date.
10. Wild Card. Your choice! Feel free to pick something that's not here.
Relationships
1. Blind Date. You had no idea who you were going out with until you arrived! Was it a complete stranger, or did it turn out to be someone you knew?
2. First Date. You finally worked up the courage to ask this person out, and they agreed! How awkward is this going to end up?
3. Steady. You guys have been going out for a while. This is just another one of many dates.
4. Proposing. This isn't just any date for you. You've brought your significant other out somewhere to propose to them! Make sure to warm them up for the main event!
5. Married. You're not just dating, you're a married couple! Whether this is a special occasion or you just decided to break from your everyday life, the two of you are using this as an opportunity to remind each other just how much you love one another.
6. Wild Card. Your choice! Feel free to pick something that's not here.

[Newt's kind of in a hurry. His blind date was due to start 30 seconds ago and he's still on his way there. Unfortunately the universe placed a candy shop between him and his destination but if not for that, he would have been on time. Once he's made his impulse purchase, he pops into the cafe next door looking like a man out of time. He also looks like a man who just left a rock concert or perhaps has plans to attend one in the near future.
It's a blind date so... he doesn't know exactly who who's looking for. He knows her name is Susan, she's around his age, she's academically brilliant (doesn't help him find her but good to know) with 'unique style'. What she knows of him may be just as vague — he's in his 20's, also academically brilliant, a professor of the sciences, wears glasses. The 'unique style' thing might have also come up at some point. His leather jacket, doc martens and tight jeans with holes in them are hardly respectable. The touches of blue in his hair don't help. He looks like a punk, though not nearly as vicious as Sid.
Newt completes a 360° about-face around the cafe until his sights land on someone he thinks might be her. It's been some time since he's been around human beings in non-academic settings so he feels a little rusty and awkward. He orders his coffee black-as-my-soul, then approaches her table.]
...Susan? Uhhh, hi, I'm Newt. I'm the guy.
[He offers a hand in greeting. Is that a skull ring on his pinky finger? It sure looks like it. Up close he looks even less like a professor. He has the beginnings of a 5 o'clock shadow like he's seeking desperately to look his age but his twink genetics are being uncooperative.]

If there was one thing she could not abide it was being set up with someone's son.
This particular date had some promise--Newt, an academic, a professor of sciences, glasses. He sounded like precisely her type, or at least what she would admit to being her type. She arrived a bit early, if only so she could order an appropriately fancy coffee and have some of it before he strolled in. In a moment of weakness, she ordered a few chocolate dipped biscotti as well.
She was part way through her latte when a Musician approached her table. From his blue streaked hair, to the leather jacket, to the heavy shoes, everything about him screamed 'I own several guitars'. She was certain he must have wanted directions somewhere, she was usually mistaken for the information person at every establishment, but then he held out a hand and introduced himself.]
You're Newt? [She manages to rein in her incredulity a bit and looks at his hand. He's got a skull pinky ring. Right. She shakes his hand and gestures to the seat next to her.] What I mean is: Yes, I'm Susan.
[Susan's eclectic sense of style diverges in almost the exact opposite direction of his. She's got on a well tailored pinstripped blouse, a choker with a cameo, a black walking skirt, and heeled boots. Her hair had, for once, cooperated and she'd set it in a nice french twist. She looks every bit a professor and absolutely nothing like an elementry school teacher. Her outfit and demeanor make her seem much older than she is.]
It's nice to meet you. Please join me.

[People always expect him to look like someone else. Probably someone older, smarter, more respectable. Or maybe someone super nerdy. Whatever the case he's always glad to move past it. Newt seats himself, grinning sheepishly.]
Sorry I'm a little late. There was a candy shop along the way and I am not a strong man, so please excuse my hedonism. [A glance toward her biscotti.] Looks like you're also into chocolate. Hope you don't mind I brought extra.
[He unzips his jacket and pulls out a box, opening it to place between them on the table. Inside is an assortment of different chocolates. Newt wastes no time popping one into his mouth and chasing it down with a sip of hot coffee. It takes him barely a second to note how well put together she is. She's smartly dressed, sophisticated, professional, a bit severe. She's everything he's not. ...Almost.]
Nice hair, by the way. Very unconventional. I like that.

[But, honestly, she'll take the compliment. Her hair is so rarely complimented that it's a nice change of pace. His bag of candy, at a glance, looks to be all the good sorts. Susan can't help but approve.]
I admit, I didn't expect you to have this much style. In my experience, people who embrace fashion are rarely academics.
[She gestures with her latte before she takes a sip.]
That's a nice ring. You rarely see skulls sculpted that accurately.

You've got a good eye. Pretty sweet, right? [A grin.] Someone with an eye for anatomy and way more patience than I have must've sat down and crafted this little beauty. But yeah, I like to push the boundaries of what an academic can be. We're not all blowhard snoozefests in stuffy tweed vests. Sorry, I didn't mean for that to rhyme...
[Horrible accidental poetry is the worst. He needs a little pause to hide behind his coffee mug and blow at the steam. A glance upward draws his gaze back to the striking coloration of her hair. Knowing that it's natural only piques his curiosity all the more. Within seconds though, all the colors blur together as his lenses fog up from steam.]
