"Please don't," she murmurs, laughing softly as she leans in impulsively to kiss the corner of his lips.

It's not so difficult to turn his head slightly, catch her lips Properly against his own for half a second. They're talking about changing the Shape of their World to be closer, after all. It Must be Appropriate.

She doesn't pause. Yes, the kiss is short, but there's nothing hesitant about it. Blythe just gasps softly as she pulls back, then asks slowly, "... can we- try that again?"

"...if you like." Not that he Wouldn't. He's absolutely already leaning in again.

This time, she answers almost hungrily, pressing closer into the kiss as both hands fly to his cheeks. Pulling back for breath is a brief movement before her lips find his again.

There's a sliver of Tension at having her hands Controlling him, but it melts quickly enough as he presses his lips to hers. They'll figure something out, won't they?

"I'm scared," she breathes against his skin, fingers slipping from his cheeks to smooth down his chest. "You-- Please, take me with you." Just for a little while. Just for another hour of being themselves. She can't think straight around him. She likes not having to think straight.

His breath comes a little short as he nods, catches her hands away from his face to tug her up from her seat. There's a hotel not far off they can check into as Mr and Ms Smith.

Somewhere he can Hold her properly.

She'll follow him. She'd follow him anywhere. That's what she's scared about.

And when she pulls back from breathless kissing in that hotel room, she'll murmur desperately, "I think- I love you, Declán."

He means to say 'don't.' Or at least 'you shouldn't.'

"We shouldn't, Blythe."

But he says 'we.' He says her Given Name. His heart twists painfully in his chest.

"I know," she whispers, not able to look away from his eyes. Hesitantly, almost fearfully, "-Should I go?"

Yes. Yes, they should both go. Yes, they needed to Stop this before the hurt got any worse.

"Please don't."

Despite everything, that will prompt an unconscious, private, happy smile as she presses her lips to his again. He's intoxicating. Addicting. Without a doubt, he's a problem.

It's so much nicer to pretend not to care, to stay with him as if there'll be no consequences.

She's easy to kiss. She's easy to tug at the clothes of and fall into bed with. She's easy, at the end of the day, to love.

She shouldn't be. He'll worry about that when they wake up again.

It's lovely in an unfamiliar sort of way, to wake up with her cheek on his bare chest. "I want to run away with you," she murmurs, not quite moving just yet. "I can't, but I want to."

"They'd find us." Which they both know. It's just something to say as he shifts to press an absent kiss to her forehead.

"I know," she says softly. "Isn't the idea... romantic, though?" He won't see the blush. Maybe he'll feel the heat.

"...I'm not the man to give you romance, Blythe." This, after all, was probably the best he could do. And this was far from that.

"... if we were in different situations." She looks up at him, arm moving to cover her chest slightly. "You could be. I believe that."

That gets a frown before he looks down properly. "...you can imagine being in a different situation?"

"... can't you? One where we don't have to worry about work and commitments? It's... I just..." She sits up slightly, hovering over him on one arm. "It's lovely to think about."

There's the slightest shake of his head for that, fingers lifting to smooth back a few loose strands of her hair. "I'm glad it pleases you, then."

She catches his fingers to press a light kiss to his knuckles, then extracts herself from his grasp, wrapping one of the sheets around her midriff as she gets out of bed. "I'm... going to shower. If you don't mind."

But first, she's going to pull back the curtains and stand in the warm morning light, forehead pressed hard to the glass.
