Kiss of the Vampire

Vampires tend to have a lot of sex appeal. It may be because evil is sexy for some, but not all vampires are evil, so maybe it's because they're bad boys or sultry femme fatales. Maybe people just figure hundreds of years of practice at love making makes vampires really, really good at it. On the other hand, the bloodsucking may be a great fetish source, something about a quick sting of pain followed by pleasure.

When a vampire is hungry and isn't quite so decent or hard up as to lower himself to only buying blood at the butcher's or trapping and draining small animals instead, their dietary supplement of preference is human blood. However, vampires can make the experience of being a drink box not just bearable, but pleasurable for the donor.

Someone must have said the dreaded “Q word” at the start of the evening, because the night shift in the ER had been anything but quiet. Trauma bays had quickly filled up with humans and supernatural beings alike, and it didn’t look like that was going to slow down any time soon.

Minoru had just finished cleaning one of the rooms when the head nurse shouted back to him, “Need some help up front! Grab the next patient from the waiting area and bring them back?”

“On it!” He exclaimed, grabbing an available wheelchair on his way down the hall.

As he headed into the waiting area, he couldn’t help but notice the familiar face standing near the entrance. He was there a lot, but not as a frequent flyer himself. He was never the patient, but brought in enough people on a regular basis that Minoru was starting to really wonder what was happening out there.

This time there was a pale man with him, quite dazed, bordering on unresponsive. Minoru was no doctor, just your basic orderly, but he knew bite marks when he saw them. Vampires had been involved somehow. But it was hard to tell at first glance whether the patient was one or had only been drained by one. (A lot of the city might have been ignorant to the supernatural side of things, but anyone who worked at this hospital for a while got used to the idea pretty quick. Minoru included.)

He looked up to the familiar man. “What’ve you got for us tonight?”
