"Hold on, hold on, turn off the backing track--TURN OFF THE BA--" Nathan's entire temper and attention span both ran out at the same time as he tried to record his part of a song. "Thank you," he muttered when the music cut out. He looked out the recording room window, to the three other guys.

Three.

"Skwisgaar, Where the hell's Toki?" Nathan asked, eliciting a shrug from the lead guitarist who insisted for the sevensty second time that he was not Toki's babysitter.

"Yeah I guess you're right. I'm sure he's fine," Nathan said with a dismissive shake of his head. "It just. I dunno. Feels. Weird."

It wasn't something that Nathan had consciously registered, but he noticed that there was a pattern. He recorded his part while the guys were in there, and they would give their opinions. Pickles had constructive criticism coming from a place of experience, Murderface had criticism that held no merit, and Skwisgaar barely paid attention so he could fine-tune how he would record the final masters. Toki, though, usually had something to say just about now. Nathan both anticipated it, and was disquieted when it wasn't there.

"Yeah... it's fine. Okay, from the top, Pickles."

But it wasn't fine. Something was off about it and it was severely cutting in on Nathan's other mental faculties to consider the possibilities. The last time Toki disappeared, shit happened. Horrible shit. Shit he'd rather not think about, even though it was a while ago.

He missed his cue, then looked up before he could even feel bad about it and turned to the door and yelled at the hooded guy there, "You! Guy! Go find Toki."

He wasn't going to record another second of this shit until Toki was found. Not that he had trauma from it all, that's something rich people didn't get. But it wasn't even about the trauma (that definitely didn't exist,) it was about the fact that Toki missed saying something. It just bugged him, like a pebble in his shoe, pressed up against one toe. It wasn't going to kill him, but if he didn't alleviate it, it'd become a blister of irritation.

he's going to sit down on the sofa and have a drink first, though, that's more important.

he is also not saying anything because as per usual, he really just doesn't care enough. yes, he is actively bleeding; no, he hasn't been home in like five and a half days... it is what it is. good day, hatsutori. ]

[The exasperated chastising barely holds any bite when Steven's voice is so soft with worry, but it isn't every day a friend stumbles through his door bleeding, and even though Fenris seems unbothered by what is likely a mild injury to the likes of him, Steven isn't used to seeing so much... blood. Luckily, he's accustomed to dealing with stubborn men though, elves or otherwise, and that's never stopped him from bullying those he cares about into letting him help.

Honestly, one day they'll learn brushing him off is futile.

He grabs a nearby chair with an insistent, pleading look on his face, still pinched with worry, already having grabbed his unused first-aid kit and everything. It's hardly been opened save for grabbing an extra bandage or two for the occasional papercut.]
