violence, death, nonconsent and all around questionable situations.
THE HUNGER GAMES MEME

Congratulations, Tribute.
You have been selected to participate in the Hunger Games.
The rules are simple: there can only be one victor.
You have to kill everyone else or die.
The last one standing wins.
May the odds be in your favour.
⚔
OPTIONS FOR THE SCENARIO-MINDED:
1. ENEMIES: in for the kill
The truth is you've been plotting each other's death for a long time. The only thing different about this situation is that everyone else actually wants you to off each other. Who cares if both of you are probably going to die anyway: no one is taking this bastard down except you.
2. ROMANCE: lovers in a dangerous time
What do lovers do when they know they're about to die? Last kiss, last words, last fuck? Maybe you're desperately trying to protect each other from the rest. Maybe you're the last two left alive. What sacrifices are you willing to make? How far will you allow each other to go?
3. ALLIES: set your arms down
It's in both of your best interests to stick together. Two together is more deadly than one, and you can pool supplies and weapons. Of course, this arrangement is most definitely temporary. Maybe it'll fall apart tonight, or tomorrow, or next week. Maybe your alliance has already run its course, and it's about to fall apart...right now.
4. TORTURE: death's not the worst
Sure, the point is to kill them. But why leave it at that? Maybe you've always secretly gotten off on this sort of thing, or maybe you've just cracked under the stress. When everyone is going to die, there's no point in sticking to all those rules society laid down for you any more. You've already incapacitated them; there's no way they can fight back. Might as well have some fun, right?
5. VICTORY: the finish line
You've done it. Last one standing. You've chosen to live, and no one but you knows how much that choice cost you, because they're all dead. At this point there's nothing that will stop you from stepping up to claim victory. You killed every other tribute. Or did you?
6. TOUR: you think this ends?
You've got a fabulous new home, you'll never go hungry again, and now you have to visit all the other districts and face the families of those you've slain. Some districts will greet you joyously and others? Won't. How are you even holding up in the aftermath?
7. OTHER: write your own story
Anything and everything you can think of. Maybe you're not a Tribute, but a Capitol citizen at a lavish watching party. Maybe you're a Mentor courting sponsors, or a Stylist getting your Tribute ready for the arena. Or are you a Gamemaker, with even more cruel surprises to shock and awe?
⚔
Let the Games begin.

Bizarre, to think two weeks ago his life had been completely devoid of the glitz and spectacle of Capitol life. Bizarrer still that, six days ago, he'd never killed someone. He'd just been a dark horse fan favorite, unexpectedly flashy in his private training session and deftly charming in the interview.
(It hadn't even been intentional.)
He's sniffing some kind of poultice, handed out through the faux-generosity of a faceless sponsor, when the bushes shift and water splashes and fuck, he climbs to his feet, unsheathing the dagger he pulled from a girl's body.
It isn't until he's swept around the tree trunk, weapon drawn back and pain jolting up his leg, that he recognizes the boy he's about to stab. Another of the Career tributes: quiet, resting bitch face, the one Ren had found fun to needle like they might've been friends in another life.
Shit. It's no big mystery who's going to walk away in a match-up between a Career and some scrawny kid from District 12.]
turning on my 19th century villain playlist for this
which is why there's a prolonged second of silence after the recognition sets in, Megumi's own knife angled just above Ren's chest for a quick and easy stab to the heart.
District 12. Amamiya.
Megumi can hear the camera above them whirring as it locks in for a closer look, knows the entire world is watching them in this moment, assuming that he'll do what he's always done ("-so skilled with those straightforward kills, there and gone!") and District 12 will be out of the game for good.
remember to make it believable, Megumi-kun! - fucking Gojo.
a grimace shoots across his face before he slowly pulls his hand back and drops the knife into a patch of dirt. his hand, pinning Amamiya against the trunk, retreats. he holds his hands up in a gesture of surrender, although he's still clearly ready to wrestle that knife away. ]
I'm glad I found you. [ his voice is hoarse from conserving water intake, and not speaking for the past few days. ] You... remind me of a brother I lost when I was younger.
[ rip, Itadori. ]

But she still put a smile on her face and went through the motions as best as she could, trying her best to earn sponsors and a high rating. She didn't, of course. She earned the lowest rating by far. In fact, she had the lowest score in recent history. That was humiliating, but she figured being generally athletic didn't exactly qualify her for anything higher than the two she earned. Maybe it wouldn't been higher if she hadn't been so afraid.
It was during those days where everyone was feeling one another out and alliances were being formed that she first spied him. He was about her age, and she remembered that he was from either District 5 or 6. He was kind when she approached him to ask for help lifting something, and she regretted not asking for his name.
She found out his name the first day in the arena. As everyone took off running as gunshots fired, she had been grabbed and drug along into the trees by Jason. Maybe her score should've been a little higher, she realized, as it was because of attraction to her that Jason kept her alive. Whatever he was planning on doing with or to her made her uneasy, but she was too afraid to try pulling away. So she stumbled along at his side, with him shouting at her to keep up as he gripped at her arm hard enough to bruise.
To everyone watching at home, this likely seemed like a sweet gesture. A heroic brute saving the defenseless girl from his district. But to Chrissy, she saw the gesture for what it was: a claim to her. That day, Jason used her as bait to lure in other tributes to kill them. It was when he tried kissing her after killing the male tribute from 11 that something finally clicked into place. She managed to squirm out of his hold and ran as fast as she could.
That running made her plow right into the boy from 5. Or was it 6? She had a hard time remembering. All she knew was that he could see she was panicked and afraid, and calmed her down. When she could manage to talk, even a little, she told him that they had to run. That Jason was coming, and he'd be furious because she rejected him. It wasn't until they had been hurrying across the arena for nearly an hour that they stopped, both exhausted and out of breath.
"I -" she panted a little, wiping at her brow with the back of her hand. She really needed water, but hadn't grabbed a canteen or anything at the start of things. That was a move she was regretting now.
"I never told you my name, not even when I wanted to before. I'm Chrissy."

But Eddie had bargained for as many as he could, because he knew that one of two things was going to happen: By some miracle his name wouldn't be called, and he and Wayne would need to be able to get through to winter when there was always more usage and more maintenance needed, or he would get called, in which case he wasn't going to be coming back and Wayne would need to stockpile what he could without Eddie there to help.
Training had been... well it had been something. He hadn't expected the only person to be more out of their depth than he was would be someone from One of all places. But she was, and he'd been happy to help, realizing only later that he hadn't actually gotten her name. Not that it mattered, he was sure neither of them was going to make it past day three out in the actual arena.
Which was why having her bowl right into him in the evening of the first day was a surprise, he had immediately snaked an arm around her waist and slapped his other hand over her mouth to twist them both into the underbrush, half convinced she was going to scream to let her counterpart know where he was. Except that she hadn't, she'd been in a blind panic and by the time he actually got the information out of her, he knew the other one -Jason- would definitely be looking for her, so deeper into the trees he went.
Even already winded and on high alert, he couldn't help but flash a smile at the introduction, "I know. I mean, I heard." He gestured skyward with one hand as if to indicate the introductions everyone had at the beginning, "And I'm Eddie."
This was followed almost immediately by pulling a bag from his shoulder and offering it over to her, it was emblazoned with D.1, and given as how he also had the bag that was marked D.5 there was a good chance it was supplies, "He was too busy grabbing you to grab this." He explained with a shrug, "And everybody else was scattering, so I figured, what could it hurt? Clearly nobody's going to use it, I might as well, right? Maybe make it more than a couple days if I've got double the supplies." A shrug, "But it's yours. So, you know, take it."

District 12 would be easy for me to do, but could also do career tribute stuff. ]
we'll start with 3 and see how far we get lol
[ Most tributes would be getting some sort of a pep talk about the competition awaiting them right about now, but they don't get one. Or rather, the man who was supposed to take that job was instead sitting here as tribute, having volunteered as soon as they'd announced there would be two people picked. Whatever his reasons, he hadn't bothered to share; perhaps he was protecting somebody, anybody really considering his gesture meant one less person getting reaped, or perhaps he just wanted to put an end to it, tired of sending kids off to their deaths every year, unable to make a difference no matter how much he tried to prepare them. ]
[ Levi Ackerman. He's... somewhat known back at District 12 as one of their very few victors in history (there may have, incidentally, been another Ackerman like thirty years before that...), and yet at the same time, remains something of an enigma. He lives alone, rarely appears in public. Twenty years ago or so, he had won his Games after having some of the worst odds in the betting polls -- everybody thought he would be the first to die, but he turned out to be unexpectedly skilled with a knife, ending the finale in what became known as the biggest televised blood bath of the decade. He never spoke a word of it since he returned home. ]
[ "I volunteer." He hasn't said another word since uttering those two after having climbed on top of the stage, yesterday. Now he's just sitting in a chair, tilted on its back legs, and slowly polishing a pocket knife with what seems to be obsessive precision. His eyes do dart toward his companion a few times; something between evaluation and regret. He probably wishes the kid hadn't been drawn, hadn't had to be here, hadn't had to die. ]
...Ever killed anyone before?
[ Well, that's certainly one way to break hours-long silence. His voice sounds quiet, mellow, somewhat rough as if from disuse. ]
love it ty

her mother, of course, is furious. michael doesn't have to be able to see her to know. philippa had always been clear: becoming a career tribute was for people without options. michael was supposed to rise the ranks of the military, first with a posting at the nut through her mother's District 2 connections, later becoming a general, perhaps commander of the entire military. her mother never let her forget how much she had sacrificed so that michael could have these options. the best of everything: fresh food, soft blankets, a seat at dinner parties where she learned capitol manners. a private tutor in military history, and private combat lessons with the District 2 mentor.
but tutor sarek and mentor lorca were not what her mother expected. michael learned more from both than she was ever supposed to. from sarek she learned sacrifice of the one for the many. from lorca she learned to seize opportunity. tilly is fourteen and will be killed immediately. michael is eighteen, and knows she can win.
lorca is probably furious too. no -- she doesn't know what he'll be. (proud, she hopes quietly, in a place not even she can hear.) as she walks past him on the stage, she stares him down, unflinching from his judgment. ]
