Completely. I saw the cup before I saw him.

I tried to tell him I was not hungry, but he only insisted that it was a "quality cut."

I can't say that pre-dawn camp meat summons an image of quality, I'm afraid.

He started jiggling the cup at some point, apparently to cajole me into accepting it.

I might have thought the whole thing some kind of strange dream, had he not left cup and meat standing by my bedroll.

It is one that I don't have an answer for, unfortunately. Our campsite was host to a celebration, and I do not remember his face.

Though the colour and smell do not appeal after a warm night, I must confess to a certain endearment, that he thought to leave it for me. Perhaps he thought I might awake hungry and change my mind.
