[ it's not like paul doesn't like summer. he also likes not being in a place with the shuffling dead, but at the same time he still lives on a knife's edge of paranoia that keeps him on his toes at all times.

which is why, on this hot, hot afternoon, he's seated on a rocky outcropping in his normal outfit: long pants, long-sleeved shirt, vest, leather duster, gloves, and boots. at least he's foregone the beanie today, instead opting to tie his hair up in a bun. he's looking out to the ocean though, just watching the waves even though he's got a knife and whetstone in his hand that he's been working with.

[ Thankfully, there are a number of large surfboards just sticking out of the sand nearby, ready for Ken to grab. Psyching himself up with a deep breath, he takes a running start for the water. He leaps—! And gets ready to do a backflip onto his board...

...But given that his job is not surfing, and the water is plastic, the board bounces harmlessly off the waves below him. The backflip is still landed, but he quickly topples over backwards and lands on his back in the sand. ]

( He should feel pretty good about it. Sure, Ken did the backflip which is so annoying, but he bailed at the end. He couldn't even surf.

Ken cracks a bit of a smirk and lets out a heh, and immediately feels guilty for it. Which is almost more annoying than the backflip. He nearly pouts as he goes over to help Ken up. )
