Most everyone has some sort of scars. Some are from happy accidents. Some are from events you'd rather not speak about. But sometimes, two people can share a moment over scars: Be it friendly, romantic, or with a complete stranger. These are those moments.




01. new: the scar is fairly new. maybe you still need to do something to make sure it heals more properly. maybe you're just worried about the new scar that's appeared on someone you care about.
02. discovery: you've just had someone find out about your scars, or you've just accidentally learned that the other person has scars. do you say something, or let the moment pass uncommented on?
03. shame: maybe you're ashamed of your scars. maybe you want someone else to know that there's no need to hide their scars around you.
04. show: you're proud of your scars, or at least you don't see a reason to keep them covered-- never have, or not anymore. or maybe someone is showing you their scars for the first time.
05. story: it's time to talk about the story behind your scars. or, perhaps, it's time to listen to someone tell you about how they came about their scars.
06. touch: maybe you want someone to touch your scars so you can remind yourself you're still here. maybe you want to touch their scars because you want to show them you don't mind them.
07. attraction: you've heard that people like someone with scars, so you're flaunting them, or you're the person very attracted to someone with scars. 
08. kiss: letting this person kiss your scars may be a moment of extreme vulnerability, or just something you like. kissing someone else's scars may be just what you need to do to show someone how much you care. 
09. soulmate: you live in a world where your soulmates scars appear on your own skin. what's that like?
10. other: wildcard option.

(Kabal's not ashamed of his scars or respirator, per se, but his facial scars and blind left eye absolutely hit him different than all the others. Mostly because he doesn't want people to treat him different if they think he's somehow less skilled than he was 15 minutes ago before they found out he was partially blind.)

probably discovery or story, but open. his most obvious is right side of his face, which is burned cheek down to collar.

more surprisingly he’s burned down the right upper arm and almost the entirety of his back. it’s severe and his nerves are pretty shot there. that’s from criminal arson committed by someone when he was a kid.

he also has a few gnarly scarred stab wounds, including one above his heart and one on his left upper arm.

he’s not at all ashamed of his scars, he weaponizes them to scare, but he does get uncomfortable about scaring people he likes. he’s very uncomfortable being touched, but he’ll allow it if it demonstrates his affection for them or they really want to and are gold class in his book.

[ Ji-seop likes to think that he has a strong stomach, that not much phases him; usually, it doesn't. He's seen things more graphic than he should have, not least of all the crime scene photographs painted on the insides of his eyelids when he closes his eyes to sleep, some nights. How could anything phase him, having seen the mutilated corpse of a body he'd touched when it was warm and soft and alive suddenly frozen in time on a cold, impartial death report? Having seen the bright, bloody welter and gore of Private Cho's attempt to exit a situation he never should have been cornered in a year after that?

Yet, for some reason—maybe just the fact that he's damn tired, emotionally speaking—he lets his guard down, this time. He just wants to take a fucking shower for the first time in about a week, to feel warm water on shoulders that ache after days of tension. Pyeon Sang-wook's here, too; the communal nature of the excursion is nothing out of the ordinary, at least for Ji-seop: between his experiences in jimjilbangs and the military, there isn't much he hasn't seen.

But extensive burn scarring is on that very short list. He shouldn't be surprised that the burn wounds don't stop at Pyeon Sang-wook's face, and yet, somehow, it's still jarring, seeing the skin stretched tight across a discolored background, crinkled and mutilated with crisscrossed hypertrophic scars. It reminds him of Joong-seok's burnt flesh, and the arms of the soldier he'd apparently been...

Ji-seop realizes he's been staring directly at Sang-wook's bare trunk, at the obvious, glaring deformity he is most certainly aware of, for the duration of this train of thought. Unbelievably rude, and uncomfortable, especially if the gangster, like his father, has left their interactions to date with the impression that he's not quite masculine enough.

You're going to make the man feel like a freakshow. Great work. ]

[ Depending on what is going on I am fine with any, Caoimhe has more scars during her later levels. As a magical weapon especially, it will look like lightning struck her from where her heart is. This is from the amount of magic coursing through her entire body. Sometimes they glow sometimes they dont. As a warlock they are more physical ones, from fighting. ]

(Being far from home has been something he never once dreamt of happening again, with him found in foreign territory he knew little of. How he was sent there is uncertain, mages more than likely had reached them just as he prepared to return to Faerghus castle and sent him directly into more battles with creatures unknown, of more struggles to survive until he met her, Caoimhe, there were far more questions than answers about his head involving the locale, how he got there but there was little else he could do; nothing else he was capable of doing to begin with.

The travels spent together had caused him to slowly get to know her, to form attachment and find himself curiouser and curiouser with each passing day on the road. About her magic, perhaps about her entirely as he unwittingly begins to feel the tug of something familiar though he knows not what it is or perhaps can be. By this time they were at an inn, roomed together due to space being an issue though inwardly he finds himself nervous, anxious. She wasn't back just yet but he doesn't know how she may react were she to see what he's done to his own body; to carry the weight of his sins he let himself be hurt often, he let them near kill him often as well and charged onward like a man with a death wish.

A man who sought death, peace, and for the cries of the dead to end as he absentmindedly begins to undress; with a small part of himself hoping his horrendous luck will not grace him with something or other back firing upon him while he gets changed. Perhaps the Goddess will be kind, perhaps he has wistful thinking as the clink of armor lands upon the floor with care between it, his gauntlets, and his undershirt to reveal his 'penance' to himself again. Down to the nastiest of them that laid over his heart whenever he jolts at what he realized was the door coming open.

Goddess, why must he suffer, Dimitri knows not what he did but he knows that he held no wish for these to be seen if ever with his thoughts of himself being a monster still hovering around no matter his progress toward re-obtaining his light. But it does little to help him feel better as he turns with shame and an apologetic expression toward his pathetic state.)

Still there was no use lamenting once his rough hands fidget about, posture settling into something anxious. He was good at hiding things but there was a limitation to that, like right now.)
