You suddenly want the affection of another. Whether it's just a hug or you're making sexy eyes at your beau.

Fluff:

1. Shoulder punch: This person needs to seriously buck up. Maybe a playful punch in the shoulder will help them cheer up. Just make sure you watch your strength... and your aim. You don't want to accidentally punch this person really hard in the face... do you?

2. Tickle: It's time to see this person smile and hear them laugh, whether they want to or not. Grab a feather or use your fingers and go to town on their most sensitive spots. Don't worry, I'm sure they'll forgive you... probably.

3. Hug: Come on now, don't be shy. Everyone needs one of these every so often. Go up to this person and hug them like you've never hugged before!

4. Tackle Glomp: You love this person so much that a normal hug just isn't gonna cut it. You need to launch yourself at this person at full force and just wrap your arms around them until they pop! Don't worry, they can take it! Just... try not to do this around any staircases.

[Jim wasn't sure when it had happened. If it happened before the Epic Breakup of Silence, which is what Sulu called it, or if it was after; Jim just knew that he'd been feeling---feelings towards Uhura. Nyota. Could he call her that?

She might smack him. Yeah, we'll go with Uhura.

It made him think of Gaia, when they'd been making out and she'd suddenly blurted out that she thought she loved him; it was that weird. Did that make Kirk weird for thinking that he wasn't just falling for his Communications Officer, but actually in love with her?

He mingled at the Christmas party, and was a bit surprised when he found himself stopped by Uhura as he went to pass her with her drink. She cleared her throat delicately, and he turned; looking to where her eyes indicated that they were both standing under mistletoe.]

Oh. Yeah, right. It's uh--bad luck if we don't-- [When was Kirk ever flustered when it came to a woman? Like ever?]

[ She hadn't even wanted to attend this silly Christmas party. If attendance hadn't been made mandatory (who's idea was that?), she wouldn't even be here; she'd be in her quarters, drinking a glass of wine and avoiding most everyone, as she had been for the last few months. It was safer that way. Neither she, nor Spock, had considered what it would be like if things didn't work out.

It turned out, things were pretty shitty.

And things were going to get worse. Spurred forward by a meaningful look by Bones indicating that she ought to let the Captain know she'd made it to the party, she'd cleared her throat to get his attention ... only to notice the mistletoe above both of their heads.]

Oh. [ For once, she was .. out of things to say. Out of snappy retorts. Out of anything. Why was she nervous? What was there to be nervous about? He'd go in for a cheek kiss, surely. And it was Kirk. Why was he stammering?] Yeah, we should. To boost morale, or .. avoid bad luck, or something.

[ She's almost fascinated to see what he does next. ]

Yeah, sure. Uhura, we should-- [God, he wished he had another drink to help with a bit of courage before this, but he didn't.]

Well.

[Here went nothing. It isn't fancy. It isn't with his usual gusto or anything like a girl he'd pick up at a bar. Even though he'd tried to do that with her. He leaned in and kissed her on the lips gently, chastely.]

[ Wow, this was awkward. Except, whenever she'd considered this (and she'd considered it, in passing), it'd never been awkward. Or if it had, it'd been her fault. Wasn't he supposed to be some sort of sex god or something? Kirk, the unflappable? Kirk, the suave?

Captain James T. Kirk, the awkward? It didn't quite have the same ring to it.

Still, even though she ought to be expecting it, the kiss caught her off guard -- especially with how gentle and on the surface it was. Pulling away just a fraction of the distance, she hesitated and then darted in to kiss him again, tugging lightly at his lower lip.

Come on. Is that all you've got, Captain? ]

When she darts back in to kiss him again he only hesitates for a moment before kissing her back; harder. He shifts, his body pressing closer to hers as he wraps his arms around her waist to keep her where she is.]

[Since when did Kirk ever try to behave? Though given her emotional state the last few months, maybe that was the best thing to do. That and the crew was watching. Mindful of that fact, she teased a bit, sucking on his lower lip before pulling away, meeting his gaze squarely. ]

[They might not be liplocked any longer, but she won't pull out of his embrace, enjoying the sensation for the first time .. well, for the first time in what felt like too long.]
