No, really, it's like Oprah on a bender, everyone gets a pair! They can be feathery, leathery, tattered, pristine, made out of glitter, feathers, tissue paper or star-stuff.

The only limit is your imagination (and reference pics, if that's your thing)

Maybe your character has always had their wings, maybe they just woke up with them for the first time this morning, it's up to you!

What the bloody hell?---

[Flashbacks of Ziggy having said wings now flashing through Mick's mind as he reaches behind to feel the soft feathers of his bird wings? They are all white and fluffy, around ten foot across and enough to carry his weight. In theory. The feather colour almost mirroring his hair.]

Aarne stirred and stared at Mick as he sat up. Mick had passed out and Aarne threw him on the couch, too drunk and tired to carry him this time. The Finn had passed out on the floor beside the couch. He pushed his hair back and stared harder.

"What the hell did we take?" As Aarne pushed himself up to sit, four huge dragonfly wings unfolded. They are iridescent and wildly shifting colors as they move around.

Standing there like a car stalled at the end of an exit ramp? An accident was bound to happen…

In his sudden confusion, Mick obviously missed the frantic shouts of nearby flyers to ‘Snap out of it, dude!’ and ‘Get off the Landing Strip!’ Hardly a moment later, a distracted young man diving down for a landing suddenly noticed his path was blocked! He was too close to the ground to pull up, so he tried to swerve around him. While he missed crashing into Mick, he instead slammed shoulder-first into the barricades separating the different landing lanes.

Black feathers went in all directions as the barricade broke, and he tumbled across the track. It had a little more give than concrete, but not by much.

Anyone watching the scene just cringed. That had to hurt.

These are not the normal wings she might find herself with, so she's going to be a little surprised herself.)

[Her wings don't really look like much indoors, plain, even dingy black, perpetually covered in dust from outside, really. But when they're more clean, or the sunlight hits them just right, they're highlighted with purple, blue and even gold, just like a Grackle.]

Eddie had always hated his wings. It was less about the wings themselves, admittedly, and more about the way the world functioned as a result of them. Wings were something that were sought after, so naturally those born with them tended to be uplifted more than the rest.

His father had been born wingless, and after his mom had left had decided to incorporate Eddie into more of his plots and schemes, because he could easily get away. It also meant Eddie was far more recognizable, because his wings were black as night and not so easy to cover. By the time he moved in with Wayne, he had considered getting them permanently clipped so nobody else could take advantage of him and this so-called gift ever again.

Maybe that was why he deliberately bombed at school. Why should he get special treatment just because of something he was born with that he didn't ask for? Whatever the case may be, Eddie was left with an ultimatum: get tutored or fail, not to be welcomed back for a third attempt next year.

Which was what eventually led Eddie to Nancy Wheeler and her beautiful wings the color of a Macaw's. As much as he hated to be stuck in the library for mandatory study sessions, at least Nancy was one of the few people who didn't treat him like god's gift to humanity simply for the feathers on his back. She challenged him and drilled concepts into his head far better than any of the teachers ever did.

It was nearing the winter when Eddie noticed the shift. At some point, Nancy went from being cornered by Steve Harrington after their study sessions, where she would look apologetically his way and be swept off to his Beemer. Now, she seemed much quieter, yet also happier as she and Jonathan Byers left hand in hand.

After one of their study sessions, Eddie mentioned celebrating his latest achievement - getting an A on his history paper - to which Nancy turned him down. Maybe that was why, when he saw a glum-looking Steve fiddling with the combination on his locker that he decided -- to hell with it -- and stopped in front of him.

"Harrington, just the person I wanted to see." He put on his most charming smile, his wings unfurling in what he hoped was way more inviting than it felt.

[He lost most of a wing in the same fall that caused him to lose an arm. Hydra wasn't overly concerned about getting them back into working order (no sense making their weapon a literal flight risk) but as long as they weren't slowing him down and could still be used as a threat display or in a fight, that was all that mattered.

Shuri fixed the arm for him, but wing replacement and articulation took a lot longer, more moving parts that had to be handled more carefully, especially because she didn't want to have to remove what was left of the one just to replace it entirely.

Which is to say: He's got one wing that's fully the white and gold of a barn owl, and one that's half that fading into something that's the same black and gold as his new arm.]

[I definitely prefer a 'wings are normal/recessive genetic trait' kind of world, Kate's wings are roughly the same coloration as an American Kestrel and she's definitely been known to use her own shed feathers to fletch arrows with.]

[Leathery dragon-y wings, she usually keeps them hidden under a jacket -or just pretends they're a cape- because even among her people that's not really a normal thing to have, and whether she had them before she maybe died for a few minutes or not is anyone's guess. She's sure not talking.]

[I tend to prefer a 'wings are a normal if maybe uncommon genetic trait' universes, that said, Eddie's wings are the blue-sheened black of an American Magpie, and when he actually extends them the white primaries show, but he usually keeps them close, a smaller target even when everything else about him is big and loud.
Of course, post-Vecna they might be the same just tattered all to hell, or they might have changed with the rest of him, gone to membrane like the demo-bats, it all depends on how we want to approach the situation.]

[Always going to prefer a 'wings are normal but maybe uncommon' kind of thing.

Her wings are the rosy-sandy color of a mourning dove, and post-Vecna, unfortunately they no longer work properly.

If it's her standard AU where he resurrected her and she ran, all the repair and rebuilding that Vecna was able to do didn't fully extend to her wings, they're still misshapen. Not entirely crumpled, but hanging crooked all the same, and one doesn't fold completely anymore, always sticking out at an odd angle.

If it's an AU where she got rescued instead, chances are good she hasn't been taking as good care of them as she used to, no reason to keep up appearances if she never has to make appearances.

[Prefer a 'wings are uncommon but not unheard of' world. Jason only got wings after he came back from the dead, and of course they have to be useless common rose swallowtail butterfly wings. If these things are supposed to lift him, he has no idea how it'd work.]

He did used to love the wings that slowly sprouted painfully from his shoulders as a young teen, they were the reason for his father turning on him, making him feel lesser and his depression.

That was until he was offered a place at Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters where he came to learn to love his mutation and use his wings to save people, even though the praise is embarrassing.]
