Cooking is a daily part of life. You don't always think about it, but even when preparing the same meal, it's never quite the same each time. Cooking can be wonderful and relaxing or completely horrifying. For some it's very personal and for others it's just another part of the day...

1. The way to a person's heart... You want to show your affection and what better way than home cooked food, with your special ingredient...SHITLOADS OF SALT LOVE!

2. Cooking lesson! You would like to be able to cook, but...you have no idea what you're doing. Luckily, you have a knowledgeable friend to show you how!

3. OH GOD HELP ME Oh God Oh God Oh God You have to cook dinner for a party/your in-laws/your visiting family/whoever and it's so much and it's super important but there's no time Oh God. But luckily your wonderful, brilliant and incredibly good looking best friend ever will help you, right?

4. Hnnngh need food so bad. So hungry. Can't move. And you just don't feel like cooking. Oh, the sorrow of an empty stomach! But you're so lucky to know someone that cooks well. Or cooks at all.

5. NO STOP COOKING NOW. Awful. So awful. Eating it doesn't just make you sick, it forces your soul out of your body and into the astral plane. You'd better hope you can get out of this. ...Do you smell fire?

6. REVENGE MEAL! So mad. Just...SO. MAD. You want to show this person how much you hate them and you're going to do it through cooking. You have cooked the most barfatrocious meal you can. They will rue the day they messed with you!

7. Competition! Who's the best cook in this kitchen? It's time to find out, HERE AND NOW! It's an all out cooking battle and the two of you are going to do your best to one up the other! Allez cuisine!

Teen Verse Time!

[burnthemall]

[His first day at school and he ends up in home ec with some red head as his partner. He ties the apron around his waist while the teacher explains about omlettes and how to make them.]

She looks like a scary grandmother.

[chromatist]

She's also drunk all the time.

[Of course she gets the new kid. Fucking Danny, why is he all the way on the other side of the room? How dare he abandon her like this?]

Oh yes, fire and alcohol. This is going to be great.

[He can tell his partner is unhappy with him. He doesn't mind. She's pretty. He's enjoying the view.]

[chromatist]

[It's not him in particular, Lydia just doesn't like new kids. She already filled her quota for the year.]

I hate cooking.

[burnthemall]

So you're my sous chef. You prepare the stuff and I'll fucking cook it.

[The teacher yells "Mr. Jager!" and Hansel shrugs. He swears a lot.]

If you get me a zero on this assignment, I'm going to hunt you down and end you.

[Lydia may hate Home Ec, but she's not going to fail it, goddammit. Even if she has to learn to cook to pass the damn class.]

You huh? [He looks her up and down then raises an eyebrow at her.] I'm shaking in my Converse.

[chromatist]

[He gets a withering glare for his trouble, then she pointedly turns her back to him, flipping her hair over her shoulder so she can get to work cutting shit up.]

[Hansel starts singing under his breath as soon as he gets to work, beating the eggs, adding a bit of milk and some spices.]

[chromatist]

[Normally, she would tell him to shut the hell up, but...he's actually pretty good at this. And, okay, so classic rock isn't really her thing, but still. He sounds good.]

[He's a good singer, better when he belts it out but this is fun right now.]

You done cutting up those peppers?

[chromatist]

[She pushes the cutting board towards him. They're in perfect neat little piles, not quite minced but almost.]

[burnthemall]

Eh, not bad.

[He chucks a handful in before grabbing the pan to warm it up and melt the butter.]

[chromatist]

[She cheerfully flips him off and goes back to tapping away at her phone, blatantly ignoring the whole "no phones in school" rule.]

Hey, you could help.

[chromatist]

"You prepare the stuff and I'll fucking cook it," [she parrots, still looking at her phone.] It's prepared. Now you cook.

Except, you know, there's no side dish like toast. Or a fruit salad. Could do something like that and get some extra points here.

[chromatist]

Ugh, really? [She looks around the room, their station, grimacing.]

[burnthemall]

Yeah, really. Unless you want to do the hard work.

[chromatist]

[Heaving a hugely pained sigh, like this is some kind of horrible imposition, Lydia sets to chopping up some fruit for the salad. This, at least, she can do with startling precision.]

[He laughs at her. There's no reason why she should be that put out.]

You're spoiled aren't you?

[chromatist]

[The laughing really isn't helping anything.]

I don't like doing things that I deem to be unnecessary.

You want to pass the class right?

[Hansel isn't here to make friends.]

[chromatist]

A fruit salad is not necessary to pass.

[If he actually says that to her face, she's going to laugh. Loudly.]
