The Cooking Meme!

Cooking is a daily part of life. You don't always think about it, but even when preparing the same meal, it's never quite the same each time. Cooking can be wonderful and relaxing or completely horrifying. For some it's very personal and for others it's just another part of the day...

1. The way to a person's heart... You want to show your affection and what better way than home cooked food, with your special ingredient...~~SHITLOADS OF SALT~~ LOVE!

2. Cooking lesson! You would like to be able to cook, but...you have no idea what you're doing. Luckily, you have a knowledgeable friend to show you how!

3. OH GOD HELP ME Oh God Oh God Oh God You have to cook dinner for a party/your in-laws/your visiting family/whoever and it's so much and it's super important but there's no time Oh God. But luckily your wonderful, brilliant and incredibly good looking best friend ever will help you, right?

4. Hnnngh need food so bad. So hungry. Can't move. And you just don't feel like cooking. Oh, the sorrow of an empty stomach! But you're so lucky to know someone that cooks well. Or cooks at all.

5. NO STOP COOKING NOW. Awful. So awful. Eating it doesn't just make you sick, it forces your soul out of your body and into the astral plane. You'd better hope you can get out of this. ...Do you smell fire?

6. REVENGE MEAL! So mad. Just...SO. MAD. You want to show this person how much you hate them and you're going to do it through cooking. You have cooked the most barfatrocious meal you can. They will rue the day they messed with you!

[It's a bit unknown how it came to pass that Datura and Brady were to cook together, but here they were.]

Could you pass me those tomatoes, please? [The petite rabbit-woman asked, busy fileting the fish that would make up the main course.]

[He's not sure himself, but honestly? There's way worse people he could be cooped up in the kitchen with. Datura's pretty cool, in his book, and from the looks of things she knows her way around food and knives. There's no complaints from him.]

Oh, sure. Here. [He slides the bowl of them across to her, working on his own portion of the meal. He's got vegetables for the sides, ones to compliment the fish she's making, chopping them with a finesse few would expect from such a rough-looking guy.] Between the two'a us, we're gonna blow their socks clean off, I know it.

[Everyone had to pitch in to cook at the Golden Lair where she'd been born. Some were better than others, but all of them at least learned the basics.

Fish cleanly cut (and careful to remove the bones), Datura set the filets off to the side and set about chopping the tomatoes Brady had kindly slid to her.]

Thank you, Brady. [Pausing, the woman suddenly glanced down at her own feet, devoid of any footwear whatsoever.] What exactly is the purpose of socks? I'm not sure cooking could make them fall off...

[He pauses in his own chopping at the question, his expression blank for a moment before, surprisingly, he gives a laugh.] It's a turn of phrase. Y'know, like blowin' 'em away. Means they're gonna be really impressed. [He goes back to chopping as he speaks, then moves to pour the various veggies into a pan to fry them.] As for socks - well, they keep yer feet warm.

[There's another pause, where he leans over briefly to look at Datura's feet himself.] Human feet, anyway.

[That's right, humans do have more exposed skin than Sentinels. Her own legs and feet are completely covered in soft, warm fur, but it made sense that humans would need more clothing than her species.]

...I see. I am unfamiliar with that one. We'll 'blow their socks off,' then. [She returned with a small smile, before tossing the tomatoes into another pan along with the fish. A few spices to add to the flavor, and... time to simmer.]

[He gives a grin when he hears Datura repeat the phrase, letting his own stuff simmer along with hers as he moves to rummage through the supplies they have on hand.] Y'think we should make dessert too, while we're at it? Only proper, right...?

[Yes, he actually is trying to remember the rules of etiquette as far as dinner and dessert go. He shakes his head, looks back over to his cooking companion.] Whaddya Sentinels do for it?

[He's curious, but hopefully he's not coming off as rude by asking.]
