You're a pop star, or a royal, or maybe even the last of your kind who will bring about the Earth's redemption. Whatever the case may be, you're in a position that may be a bit dicey if you attract the wrong kind of attention.

And you're a bodyguard, a soldier, a knight - a protector. Somehow, you've been roped into protecting this person. You'll be rewarded, of course. The work may be cut out for you, but just do your job, keep your head down, and it'll go smooth.

Except for when the two of you break the bounds of professionalism and feelings begin to flourish. Being in such close quarters may get you to see the other in a different light, and saving someone's life just may be the ultimate form of intimacy.

Could this be the real danger? To feel so strongly for the one you've sworn to protect...are you compromised?

How to Play

1. Comment with your character and preferences, being sure to put if you want to play the guard, the guarded, or either. Also, you may want to put if you prefer fluffy, angsty, or smutty interaction - or have no preference.
2. Comment to others.
3. There are no prompts, because there are so many potential options there could be a hundred. Feel free to play anything: the beginnings of the relationship, just meeting, getting used to each other/not getting along at first, the obligatory first time, a threat on the protected's life and how their protector responds, how the feelings between the two has changed the protection, etc. Your only limit is you.

( Sansa is aware that Gotham is a dangerous city - it's taken her family from her and she's not the only person able to make that claim. Still, she has tried to take it in stride and preserve the Stark legacy as best she can through charity and kindness and her open heart and open hands seem to be well-received even if the criminal element would do anything to shut her down.

Tonight, she's going to the theater and she's still pulling on an opera glove when she runs into Alfred at her door. )

Are you still insisting on going with me or am I allowed to enjoy La Traviata alone tonight? Not that I don't mind the company, of course, but it is unusual to always have a shadow.

( Alfred is already in his usual going out attire. His understated and simple suit just asks for eyes to slide straight past him. He usually does that, purposely making himself look as unassuming as possible. No one would ever expect some forgettable British butler to be carrying at least four or five different firearms and knives under the fine cut of his suit. No one looks at the staff, after all. Even if that staff is sitting next to the most beautiful and eligible heiress in all of Gotham.

He knows his presence is probably a little bothersome to her. She's old enough now that she doesn't need a shadow to trail after her every moment of the day. She should be going out, enjoying being a young lady, without him there. But Alfred has both a duty and an attachment to her. That and he does blame himself for the loss of the Starks. He had been given the day off the day they had been killed. He's not taken a day for himself since.

He's not starting now. Even if she does say she doesn't want him there. )

I do like the theatre and it's a good opera. Plus someone has to drive you there. I can't have you driving the Rolls in those heels.

( He doesn't step into her room because that would be rude. She's a young lady now. He needs to be even more proper than ever before. ) But if you insist, miss, you can have the box all to yourself. I can make it so no one knows I'm there.

( It's something Alfred has stopped trying to hide from her as of recent. She's old enough now to know that he hasn't always been the kind hardworking servant to the Starks.)

( Sansa gives him a look that's both fond and exasperated at the same time. Of course he's going to go with her because he always goes with her and of course he's going to sit with her because he always sits with her unless she's brought a date. Those are few and far between those days so Alfred is usually her only company on these trips out. Unheard of, perhaps, but she doesn't care. He's always been there.

Sansa finishes with her gloves and shakes her head a bit. )

Might as well be in the box with me if you're going to go regardless. I know you want to protect me and it's admirable, it is, but I'll be just fine to go to some places on my own. It should be perfectly safe so you'll just get to enjoy yourself tonight. Think of it as the night off you never take.

( He knows that expression well. He feels like he sees it more and more as she's grown. He adores her so much and wants her to be happy. He wants her to be able to live her life like she wants to, wishes for nothing more than for her to have that, but he also wants her to see her next birthday as well. There are too many dangers in this city for him to ever truly step back with the kind of enemies her philanthropy and position earns her, but he does hope she knows that he does try to give her as much freedom as he is able to. Even if he's certain she's aware that even when she does have those very rare dates, he's always somewhere near, never more than a shout away.

He gives her a small smile of his own.) Miss, how could I not enjoy myself with such company? I'll be the lucky bloke in the box next to you. ( Probably barely watching the opera, if he's being honest with himself. He'll be too busy keeping his eye on everything else, watching for dangers. He'll also be pulling double duty later to make sure no tabloids run any ludicrous stories about the young heiress Sansa Stark being seen with a man old enough to be her father.)

( Sansa knows he'll never truly leave her on her own and as much as she might complain about it, she appreciates it. She's always felt safe with Alfred even though this city is far from safe and she knows he's protective because he'd known her parents and been with them before she was even born. He's never felt like a parent to her even if he was more paternal when she was younger. He's always just felt like an overprotective...something. He's just Alfred and he's always there. There's no name for it. )

And who is to say I am not the lucky one? Think of all the women in Gotham who might want to sit next to you in my opera box and can't because I'm occupying it. You may well be more wanted than me.

( Sansa motions him over to help with the clasp of her necklace. They're diamonds that belonged to her mother and have been floating around the Stark family for generations. )

Heirlooms are wonderful until they're finicky things that no longer want to work. The clasp has always been tricky with this one. Will you help?
