Everyone loves a good seance! For more than thousands of years, from all ends of the earth, humans have been trying to contact the dead, seeking anything from answers to vengeance to closure. Every culture has a different way of doing it, sometimes the people making the contact are genuine, and sometimes they’re just getting your money.

Who are you trying to contact? Why? Will you get the answers you are looking for?

Or are you going to find your credit card missing?

[oh hell yeah this guy as a demon in a modern fantasy au let's gooo. Talk to him and get answers (and his attention) ig. Or get yourself a deal with a devil, and his price is basically fucking with you in the funniest manner he finds fit. This may range from relatively harmless and annoying to soul-crushing psychological torture your life is ruined. He is also wearing designer shoes, but not suits because that's a bit stuffy for him.

[ Lorelei moved around the back room of the shop, floating a tea set along behind her as she came to the table. ] Someone in particular you're trying to talk to?

Have you just ever felt like maybe something is lingering?

[He shakes his head.]

No one in particular.

Oh, all the time. I have to do some cleaning around here, I think there's mold in the walls or something. That creepy 'I'm not alone' feeling, you know?

[ She sits across from Ashley, pouring tea for them both, and offers him a cup. ] What's bothering you, then? Other than something lingering.

[professionalriot]

Not bothering me, really. Just worried I guess. [He shrugs. Taking the cup he smirks and takes a small sip.] I'm getting married. Something I never thought I would do. And it feels so fucking right. And I guess I'm just scared of bringing old ghosts along with me.

... I've ruin every relationship I've ever had. It has to be me. I won't survive fucking this one up. So I need to figure out what it is.

Okay...and you think it might be a spirit or shade, or are you jut...testing the waters? I want to know how strong to make this call. So to speak.

[ Can she figure out if anything is tailing Ash supernaturally? Yes. Does she want to come in with metaphorical guns blazing for what might be a perfectly innocent hanger-on of the otherworld? Not really, no. Some ghosts get real bad real fast at that. ]

Can you be haunted by the energy of living people? It just feels like every mistake I made. Every person I was with before...like it's just clinging to me.

[Ashley smiles faintly and shakes his head.]

My guy. Ben. Benny. [That Mike turns into a grin.] He's my...heart.

Mmmm, haunted isn't the word I'd use, but yes, basically. That...energy can stick around. It sounds like woo-woo crap, I know, but energy is all humans are. Energy that's held together tightly enough to give the perception of solidity. [ Withcraft meets quantum theory, who knew, right? Lorelei just drinks some more of her tea, and reaches over to pick up a little white satin-y bead from a bowl of several handfuls of the objects nearby, handing it to Ashley. ]

Your guy Benny. He sounds like a keeper if he makes you smile like that.

Best advice I can give you? If after this, we don't find anything unusual hanging onto you, take a bath. Get some clary sage oil and palo santo oil--I've got both if you need--and take a good hot shower. Use clarifying shampoo and some good scrubby soap. Sometimes cleansing is also just cleaning. Also might want to check the frequency of your AC unit. Trust me on that one.

No, no...it's not woo-woo crap. Not at all. I feel it. I just don't always know what to do to deal with it. [He grins.] That was some quantum theory, sweetheart. I fucking love it.

I know. But you'd be amazed how much overlap there is between quantum theory and mysticism, and magic. People got close in the seventies, you know? Vibes.

[ She waved her hand a little this way and that at his question about cards and futures. ] Cards, yes. I'm not the best but I can make them talk to me. Futures, now, there's a murky subject. All things are probability, and there are rarely concrete answers for yes or no. But...if you take most things with a grain of salt and a healthy appreciation for something like chaos theory, then yeah, sure. I can tell you what's likely to happen, as things stand right now.

I know! It's kind of a new fascination of mine. Quantum theory as mysticism. As a way to explain the connection of everything, even religion.

[ She smiled--because tarot cards were an easy tart, they depended more on him than on her, and she snapped her fingers to call the deck to her hand, already beginning to shuffle it. ] Alright. I'd say this paints a pretty sure picture to go for it. Just be prepared to work for it a little. Nothing worth having comes without some kind of struggle.

[He laughs.] In matters of love the universe has never been on my side. But, I'm going to trust you on this one.

[Well, now he's going to smile in a way that makes him look very young and very happy.]

For me? He's perfect. Everything I've ever needed in a partner. A lot of things I didn't even realize I needed. Makes me feel like I can be exactly who I am and not have to hide any of it from him. That all of my secrets are safe. And that I really have someone who is my partner in all things. Shit, I think even if I was wrong about something, he would still defend my ass....and he's fucking beautiful. Like...it makes me ache.

Yeah, but....that's a good thing in love. It's what everyone's looking for, isn't it? Someone good, safe, someone you don't have to hide things from.

You sound like you love him, and that you want to make it work. So yeah, go for it. Things will work out this time, whatever it is that was holding you back. You've got what it takes to get through it, or around it.
