The only real sad part is not getting to ask her bio-mom about the situation, because if anyone would know, it'd be her. [ He seems like a really nice guy! And a cutie, to boot. Even if it is for her birthday, Claire still wants to make it fair. ]

[Like the rather hedonistic folkloric tanuki, Buson loves food, wine, and women—he won't even bat an eyelid at someone eating a whole pizza, okay, he'll probably even be impressed. Where does it all go?]

[Pizza and fries do sound perfect!

He blinked in surprise at her offer, then smiled a bit sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.]

[He'd better win her something, maybe even several things, then!

He's just nice because he's not on the job, miss, he can be very, very cruel and terrible! He's basically a poacher and racketeer. He's just... simultaneously also a laidback, naturally honest, and friendly (or overly familiar in a downright offensive way, depending) kinda guy and he retains shreds of a conscience despite the ugly job...]

How far to the arcade?

[ If Claire had known the truth, she'd find it hard to believe that he could do anything so awful. Maybe they've accidentally stumbled into difficult conversation topics, but with her history, that's not hard to do. So it hasn't changed her opinion of him at all, she still thinks he's sweet. ]

Oh, a few blocks, I think? It's this way!

[ With a bright smile, she points in the direction of the arcade, happy to lead them. ] Won't be a very long walk at all, which is good. I'm pretty hungry.

[He has that effect! He's a little disarming that way, but nope, he's absolutely capable of cruelty! He can be downright sinister.]

So, you wanna eat first, then play, or like... grab a snack—what do they have at the place, popcorn, peanuts? Play, then eat pizza...

[There is... absolutely no reason to worry about even the remotest possibility of seeming gluttonous around Buson, okay, food, then an activity, then even more food is totally reasonable to him.]

Or do you think you can eat a meal like pizza, then play? You won't feel too full to have fun after?

[... was he asking that too much like he's talking to a kid, maybe he's sounding overly concerned, hm. Claire can make her own decisions!]

[ Claire doesn't mind. It just sounds like he's excited, and really, she is too.

And she thinks she has a pretty good idea what they should do. ]

How about we eat the pizza first, then maybe after games we can get dessert! I bet they'll have something sweet.

[That’s great! Buson tends to defer to others anyway, so Claire being the one to come up with a plan helps a lot.]

[ She's not afraid to take charge. The arcade comes into sight and a grin breaks out across her face. ]

Almost there! Hey, what do you like on your pizza?

I don’t like the fish, though. [Anchovies exempt from meats that belong on pizza ~~fish nearly exempt from the meat category in general~~.]

Ha! Okay, that sounds good.

[ Once in the arcade, Claire orders them a large pizza with all the meats (but no anchovies), and a side of fries. ]

These games look pretty fun. I think I want to do skeeball first!

[He’ll happily tear into the food, but he’ll at least pace himself and try not to eat more than she does to split it evenly!]

Huh… y’know, I could never get the hang of that one. There a trick to it? Mine just sink, or skip only one ring on a fluke.

I’m good at the shootin’ games and crane games, though.
