the lyric prompt meme

♪ Post to other characters with lyric prompts and, optionally, a picture to go with it.
♪ The lyrics can come from any song you like, or, hell, you can just link some instrumental music as well. Just so long as there's a song.

[Martin parrots the word with a half smile. That wasn't so hard, was it? He hovers by the music box but doesn't yet turn it on.]
They're rather large. I don't suppose you could be a bit more specific?
[Of course she could. The question now was if she'd give the actual location or try and throw them off. Given what Martin has seen so far, he suspects he'll have to ask Billie more than once before he gets an answer he's satisfied with. But this is progress!]
I thought the Sewers were overrun with rats.

The sewers.
It is overrun. Nobody's found us yet, haven't they?
[And it's about as plausible as hiding in the Flooded District, too--risky, but smart.
A location, though, she had to think about. It'd be more convincing if she gave him one, yes. Looking down at the floor, she feigns faint anguish in the processs. Oh yeah, she puked down there, didn't she?
Wait. Suddenly, she had an idea.
She took a deep breath.]
It's under the south end of Kaldwin's Bridge, near those abandoned houses.
[It was a hell of a risk she was taking. But the sewers were narrow in the place she had in mind. It was good for an ambush. If she could get away, she could tell the others. Then they could wait, and kill them one by one. But that all depended on if she could escape.
If she couldn't, well. They were still miles away from their real hideout.]

Kaldwin's Bridge? I wonder why the Watch hasn't run across you, then.
[The music is still silenced, though Martin is making it perfectly clear it won't remain that way unless he wills it.]
Are you sure about that?
no subject
Then she glanced up at him.]
I'm sure.
[Mentally crossing her fingers, she hoped she would be convincing enough. She looked and felt enough like genuine shit. Acting wasn't her strongest suit, but she tried to play the part of someone who had had enough, but at the same time still keeping it Billie-like. Thalia-like. Whatever.]

We'll check it out, but of course you won't be going anywhere until it's confirmed.
[He stares.]
You wouldn't be lying to me, would you?
no subject
No.
[Not until she figures out a way to get out, anyway. The fact that the music box was off was some comfort, at least.]

[Martin folds his hands behind his back.]
We'll find out soon enough.

[Good god, can you leave already because she really wants to figure out a way out of these cuffs. Alone.]

[Billie gets his wish, however, as Martin steps out with his brothers. Albeit, they're only a few feet away in the large scheme, but there is a door between them for a moment.]
nadya says to go on without her :( wanna plan out what happens next over pm or aim later?
[Billie stays silent until Martin is gone. She knows he isn't far, but there's a door between them and that's all she needs. The assassin feels a little lighter without the metal noises of the music box weighing her down, but her weariness sticks around. Still, Whalers know how to work through pain and exhaustion. And the second-in-command knew that better than anyone.
Now the only problem was figuring out what to do. She struggles with the cuffs for a moment, just to see if there's some kind of weak point. No good. The Overseers kept the important things in working order. Damn.
Billie looks around. Most of powers weren't going to help her. She couldn't transverse out of her binds, and her other abilities would be useless for the same reasons. The cell of the interrogation room itself was empty save for a few "persuasion" devices in a metal tray on a small table.
Actually, maybe one of her powers could work...
She holds out her outstretched hand towards a scalpel on the tray. The scalpel jitters, almost unwilling, but slowly it scrapes across the tray and floats itself over to Billie. It's nowhere as efficient as doing it to a person. For some reason, their ability to tether worked much people on living things. But when you could make it work, it had other purposes.
Soon the scalpel was in her hand. She starts, as best she can with her bound hand, to work at the screw of her own cuff. In the process, she looks up. Just in case. She was as quiet as an assassin of her caliber (and her current state) could be, but it never hurt to make sure you hadn't been heard.]
no subject
Did you miss me?
[And a laugh.]
I'm sure you did.
[If he has any idea what she's been up to, he doesn't let it show.]

For what time she had, Billie managed to loosen the one cuff slightly. A strong enough tug might free her hand. But Martin was back. Quickly and quietly, Billie hid her makeshift tool in the space between her wrist and her cuff.
She debating using it on him if he got close enough. If at least one of her hands was free, she could properly tether him like they did the Lord Protector when they killed the Empress those six months ago. Her tethering abilities weren't as strong in her as they were others (another one of the Outsider's games of chance) but oh, Billie would love nothing more than to slam that smug look into the wall.
But not yet. She had to be patient about this.
Billie said nothing. She watched him again. Studied him.]
no subject
Nothing to say?
[No matter; as soon as the report came back as to the validity of Billie's report, the Overseer is certain she'll have plenty to say.]
no subject
[If she pulled at the cuff now and it came off, Billie could attack him, she thought. But she still had to free her other hand, meaning she would have to kill him to keep things quiet enough.
And to be honest, that was a pretty tempting idea.]
no subject
[There is a hint of honest curiosity behind Martin's words, although it's very much duty that drives him to ask.]
What is it you think will happen to you in the end?
no subject
[Though that hypothetical needle may not work anyway. But she wasn't going to mention that. She already told him she couldn't kill herself, but she didn't say why. A faint version of her usual tart attitude played in her voice.
Probably not what Martin meant. Billie knew what he meant. She just didn't want to give him the satisfaction until he was more specific about it.]
