Dungeons and Dragons! A game as old as time... Dungeons and Dragons! Fueled by dice, pizza, and the limitless powers of your imagination, D&D has the ability to transform an ordinary basement into a extravagant tavern filled with orcs, elves, and warlocks. There are plenty of guides out there that teach you the right way to play, but this is just a meme, so it's fine if you feel like flubbing some of the rules. I won't tell. how to play;
Leave a top-level for your character, including info and preferences. It might help to add whether your character plans on DMing, or just playing as a character in someone else's campaign.

Tag out, have fun, kill monsters.
the players
first timer Everyone was new at one point or another. Fortunately, most people are here to help you out as you get your footing.
veteran The one who everyone turns to when they can't remember whether a rogue's dagger deals piercing damage or stabbing damage.
the DMThe one running the show. This is your game, your world, your adventure.
the playerMost people would fall into this category. Make a character and see where the road takes you!
the game
character creation Arguably the most fun part of the game. Your character is making their own character! Characterception?! It can be liberating, but it can also be complicated. What's the difference between knowledge and wisdom anyway?
setting the scene DM, do your thing!
jail What the heck did you do to wind up in jail?!
quest The most well-known aspect of D&D. Some old guy is sending your party off on an adventure!
tavern Some old-timely bar filled with fantasy species. Go rub elbows with folk to get some information about the town you're in, or kick back and get wasted. Whatever feels in-character.
battleFight things! Fight things!
roll to... It's the name of the game. If you want to get something done, your fate is in the hand of the dice. Whether you want to seduce a guard or do a cool backflip to impress your teammates, the dice are the ones who decide.
backstories It's never too early to sit around the campfire and talk about who your character really is beneath the surface.
exploration Check out the realm! This place is crazy! They have DRAGONS here?!
( ooc: how could i not? eddie's a forever dm, but if anyone wants to take pity on this poor fool and let him play at their table for a change, he would be forever grateful
despite his canon taking place in the 80's, we can roll (eh?) with 5e rules just because they're a lot more accessible. he'd be happy to show the ropes to one or two people to start off with, if trying to coordinate a thread with more than 3 people feels too daunting. )
Daryl sat at a picnic table in the park with a bunch of books spread out in front of him. He'd never played 'Dungeons & Dragons' before, but he'd heard some kids talking about it after baseball practice--while some of their mothers whispered disapprovingly--and Daryl was nothing if not curious. On a whim, he'd biked to the comic book shop, burned all his allowance money to get the guidebooks and was studying them as if his life depended on it.
Contrary to some of the gossip he'd heard, there didn't seem to be any strange, occult rituals involved. Just a lot of math (piece of cake!) and a bit of dramatic improvisation (that would take some practice). He didn't even notice he was reading out loud until he suddenly realized that he had an audience. "Oh," he said, looking up from the fantastically illustrated pages to see a slightly older teen with rockstar-looking hair. Daryl thought he recognized the guy from school, but they'd never really crossed paths before. "Do you play? Turtle said I should try to use my imagination more. Will this help?"
He realized this might sound very strange but being a cyborg who'd only recently escaped from a covert government agency (top secret!), and a mathematical genius (in public), he was used to seeming like a bit of a freak.
((Have a random character from an obscure 80s movie (recast as Colin Ford because I'm too lazy to screencap) trying to learn how to DM.))
