Dance dance

THE DANCING MEME
young and sweet, only seventeen
There's so many reasons why people dance. For fun, for tradition, for community, for courting, for taunting your enemies. Maybe you're just friends, maybe you're having a father-daughter (or parent-child) dance, maybe you're dating or almost dating. Gen or shippy, either is fine, as long as you're dancing!
Post your preferences and maybe a starter, then tag around!
ONE. Spontaneous Dancing
You're doing something else, maybe out somewhere, maybe seemingly alone in your apartment when you just feel the urge. The song you're listening to is really catchy or you just got good news. Does the other person get invited? Join in on their own accord? Just watch? Is it a flash mob? Whatever the reason, you’re dancing now!
TWO. A Celebration
It's a wedding! Or maybe a festival, holiday, school dance, or birthday party. Point is, it's an occasion. There's music and a dance floor and no reason why not to let loose! Be is fast paced to the dj, slow dance with a partner, or traditional dance, it's all part of the celebration.
THREE. A Gala
It's not just any kind of event, it's fancy. There's probably someone pretty rich throwing it, and you better be dressed up nice. Chances are you're just as likely to be here dancing for business just as much pleasure. Maybe you're even here to steal something, or make political connections, or fundraise for charity. But dancing is part of the deal so take your partner's hand and lead them out on the dancefloor!
FOUR. Masquerade
Much like the gala, it's fancy. Or it could be a Halloween party. Either way, everyone is wearing some kind of costume and mask. Who is this mysterious person you're dancing with? A stranger? Friend? Enemy? Frememy? A mystery. Or perhaps not a mystery, but you can pretend!
FIVE. Clubbing
It's a bar or club or hey, maybe a sock hop, and you're here to have fun. Drinks optional, music loud, dance floor crowded. Be it with friends or a date, you're going to dance tonight. Feel the beat of the tambourine.
SIX. Performance
Ballet recital, music video, talent show, traditional ceremony -- you’re not just dancing, you’re dancing for an audience. Everyone’s eyes are on you and your partner, so let’s hope you don’t get stage fright!
SEVEN. Wildcard.

He's slowly circled the dance floor, a beer bottle in hand. His second. He sees her after a moment, noticing the way she moves as if she's made of the music and not just listening to it.
Tipping the bottle up, downing the rest of it, he makes his way through the crowd. Nothing skeezy, not coming up behind her to grind on her. Just moving with the music, offering a bright smile as he started moving with her.

Dancing.
And her cousin who had done everything she could to bring her back.
Right now, said cousin was off grabbing a drink and Jordan was hitting the dance floor.
It was her artistic skill and something she'd done since she was old enough to know what dance was. The music was different and some of the moves were different but she didn't mind that. She found herself dancing and enjoying it like she'd never been gone in the first place.
She'd danced with a few guys throughout the evening and some women from a bachelorette group who were just having an enjoyable evening. It felt like she'd come home again and damn that was a good feeling.
Jordan watches as the guy comes up to her, gives her a bright smile and grins in response. She steps in closer and starts to move with him. He was cute and she liked that he hadn't come up behind her like another guy had tried not too long ago.
no subject
"Hey! Come here often? Nice to meetcha. Pleasure's mine... Uhmmmm... what else is there to say and get this over with?"
He's grinning though even as he asks that.
"I'm Lowell and I'm not from around here. Oh wait, that's one more and sleazy. Sorry. Just a joke."
no subject
When he talks and asks her a few questions all in a row, she laughs.
Even though the music is loud, she can still hear him clearly. "Hey, I'm Jordan and no, haven't been back in many years," she says with a grin.
She shakes her head with a grin. "Surprisingly, the least sleazy thing I've heard tonight. Where are you from then, Lowell?" Because why not when he put it out there like that!
no subject
"Actually London," he admits. "Which was probably a giveaway with the accent," he teases with a grin. "But been living in Seattle for a bit. Moved for the wrong reasons but it worked out. You?"
no subject
It was one of the perks of living in London, she'd loved the accents! And although she's been back for a bit and she's been back to the house once or twice, she wasn't sure she could stay in London long term. Not for a while at least. It was too weird. She'd died there and now - no, she couldn't think about it.
This was about dancing and losing herself in the music. Not to mention this conversation with this really hot guy! "Originally from New Orleans, lived in London for a while and have recently come back. In Seattle helping my cousin sell her house."
no subject
"It's a lovely city and enough rain it reminds me of home," he teases.
The music shifts and he pauses a moment. "Want to grab a drink?"
It's easier to talk away from the dancefloor, maybe take a table, and he finds himself wanting to spend some time talking with her even if he knows it can't really go anywhere. It's the hardest part of being a zombie. Knowing the conversations can't go any further than talking.
no subject
When the music shifts and he asks if she wants to grab a drink, she nods. "Sure, I could use a drink," she says and starts to make her way through the crowd of people and toward the bar.
It was hard for Jordan to form a connection with someone when she'd been technically dead for the last decade and everyone she'd known couldn't... or shouldn't know she was back. Even for her life that was unusual.
Even if Piper would once say 'normal was overrated.'
"So what is it you do?"
God, what was normal conversation anymore?
no subject
"I miss a lot of things about it, but not sure if I miss London proper. What about you? This home for you or just for now?"
A lot of people seemed to make Seattle their home for a short time as they did one thing or another in the city, usually in finding themselves.
"Actually I'm an adrenaline team spokesperson for Max Rager. It's an energy drink. Basically it means I do insane stunts to promote their product."
no subject
"Not sure where home is these days. My cousin and I are only in town long enough to sell her place before heading back to New Orleans," she admits. She can see why people liked Seattle though.
In the short amount of time they've been here, it was easy to find the little bits and pieces of herself again. Things she remembered enjoying before their lives completely changed.
She tilts her head. "I'm not sure I've heard of the energy drink but doing insane stunts sounds fun. What kind of insane stunts are we talking about?"
no subject
He hasn't thought much of leaving Seattle before the incident and now he's definitely staying close to Seattle, if only because he has a brain supplier.
"It's new and up and coming, made here in Seattle actually. Jumping out of planes and not opening our chutes until we're below the safety limits, riding mountain bikes down mountains without trails, things like that. We have one upcoming of a team jump wherein we piggyback off one another's chutes to form the longest freefall chain ever achieved."
no subject
She grins. "Wow, I'm not sure I can ever be that daring but it sounds like an adrenaline rush," she admits with a grin. She would survive it, naturally, even if she tried it. But these days, after everything? She wasn't going to tempt fate. Not when they worked so hard to bring her back.
no subject
He ducks his head, grinning even as he asks it even if his cheeks really don't show the flush he feels asking that. And admitting that.
"Oh come on. I bet you could handle it. I'm more than willing to help you jump out of a perfectly good plane, if you want."
no subject
She loved the fact that he read books like that though because she'd read more than her fair share over the years. "Do you have a favorite book that you've read," she asks with a grin.
"If I did, it would be with a perfectly fine parachute," she said with a grin then added, "being pulled at a normal range." To start, at least.

For wildcard, dancing practice for an upcoming event or performance could be really fun; maybe Azul needs the lessons, or he could have been contracted to help someone else. ))

While Floyd had complained during much of the heavy lifting needed to make enough room for guests to dance and mingle, Jade had found he enjoyed the opportunity. Yes, it was a ploy for Azul to make a profit under the guise of an 'enjoyable evening' for his classmates, but in the taller merman's mind it was just an opportunity. The twins like parties--Food. Drinks. Music...
And of course dancing.
Once he's sure that the party is under enough control, a white-gloved hand extends to the sitting housewarden to his left. "Shall we dance, Azul?"

Castle Rainesburg wasn't what he expected. It was in a cold, distant place and expected it would match his own cold, distant personality and that was why his father had sent him away to this place to be married to the princess.
But, instead, this place was warm and lively, full of smiling people who, despite being third-fourth children of families who had decided they were unimportant, seemed happy where they found themselves.
And there was no question that the reason was Princess Veronica, his fiancee and the single most embarrassing person Chu Wanning had ever met. Not embarrassing because of herself but embarrassing because of the easy way she spoke her mind, the way she sincerely and without hesitation told everyone her thoughts and feelings.
Chu Wanning couldn't help but like her and it was embarrassing and incomprehensible that she felt the same way.
The year he spent living here waiting for the day of their wedding day was full of teaching her things that she wanted to know and helping fix things around the castle.
And now they were getting married.
He sat at the head table, his back not tense for once as he watched everyone else enjoy themselves. He has no intention of joining them but he watched them and thought, it wouldn't be so bad, to live here for the rest of his life
no subject
Her smile brightens when she looks at him, her dress an inky green that she'd learned was customary for brides where he's from. Without any hesitation she's holding her hand out to him, to her husband on their wedding day,
"Wanning, come and dance with me."
no subject
But he thins his lips at the offer.
"...I don't dance."
no subject
"Why not? If you do not know how, I can teach you."
Veronica's smile brightens again at that thought.
no subject
He doesn't, in fact, know how. But he's so bad at admitting these things candidly.
"...it'll be awkward for everyone else."
Is his excuse. After all, he's gotten to know the people here better but it doesn't change the fact that he's a little too updtight, a little too serious. If he went out onto the dance floor it will make everyone self-conscious, surely.
...even though a small part of him actually kind of wanted to dance with her.
no subject
She doesn't really understand how it would be awkward but that's easy enough to solve. Veronica reaches to take both his hands with hers, giving him a bright smile,
"Then, should we go out on the balcony together to dance?"
no subject
"If that's what you want." Chu Wanning says before standing up...and then, belatedly, takes her hand. It was what was polite. "Let's go, then."
no subject
"Yes!"
With this done, she cheerfully starts to lead him to the balcony and no one stops them, of course. It's chilly as it always is around here but Veronica only gives the clear, starry sky a warm look before she turns it his way.
don quixote / limbus company
ttttttttttwo
she does, to some extent, enjoy watching everyone else chat and move. don quixote in particular is an eye-catching bundle of energy, and when the music starts up, she knows the other woman will only get more energetic.
it is a little funny to see vergilius' face twist up in the special scowl he reserves for don quixote, but she shakes her head at him to leave her be, since she isn't actually being disruptive, and keeps watching her flit around to each of her fellow sinners. )

(what a lifesaver, truly) ]
Mistress Faust! Do thee know any dances? Manager Esquire claims not to know a one, [ rather that they don't remember, ] and Mistress Rodya is set to teach them.
[ but more than that, faust is one she hasn't gotten to yet, and as one who shares the same doorway to a room it seems a shame. yi sang had relented, after all, as calm as his moves had been in contrast to her own. ]
no subject
Faust knows some, but it hasn't been a focus of mine. ( it's more, like. she has learned necessary ones. has she had to actually use them? no. not at all. ) They aren't so difficult in theory.
no subject
Then allow this one to help thee put it to practice!
[ she'll take faust's hands, stepping backward, come on-- ]
'Tis not so difficult, in truth! [ performative, but not difficult ] Are thee not bored watching the others? It is a most celebratory occasion, is it not? Then we should celebrate!!!
no subject
I'm perfectly happy watching the rest of you. ( this is true. perhaps, maybe, the truest sentiment she holds in regards to them. ) ...However, I will not turn down a dance if you insist on it.
( the notes, after all, say it's better to go along with her. faust is taller, so she should lead...? she will move their hands to the appropriate positions, looking down at the shorter woman. )
Faust will lead. Is that alright?
( she says, with no real room for argument. )
no subject
That is alright! I do not mind being led, after all.
[ heathcliff hadn't wanted to dance, but he'd taken her hand and lead her to the next; hong lu with his cheery steps had shown a strong step and stride that'd surprised her, too. don adjusts with faust's position in mind, chin tilting high as she grins. after you. ]
no subject
though she might not mind hitting honglu's knee when she listens to his careless comment about their dance. she restrains herself and lifts don quixote's hand, stepping away so she can give her a little twirl, then forward again, closer this time... )
How many turns shall we go?
