He looks enthusiastic as she takes the drink and eager as she tries it. He's definitely looking a bit like a very eager puppy, curious over her reaction to the drink.

It's supposed to be creamy and light, from what he remembers. But everyone has different tastebuds so it might not be as nice an experience for her. ]

I'd like to go on many more. For every dish or every soda I haven't tried, I'd like to go on another date. We'll just have to raise our goal to two new things.

[ She takes his hand and Ryuji feels like his heart is going to beat out of his chest. There's a few stammered words here as he tries to collect himself but it's useless, he's a blushing mess. He ducks his head as he turns pink to the tip of his ears. ]

[ If he was smoother, he'd make a joke about how she's signing up for something long term and even if the thought does occur to him, he's too flustered to say anything. Instead, he just squeezes her fingers back gently. ]

zelda's smile seems to grow when he makes his oath. ]

[ if he had made a joke about signing up to something long term, then zelda would reply:

[ originally, zelda's question arose from ryuji's reassurance that it's only a few stops. they should be there soon. it was facetious, more than anything. she tilts her head. he thinks... he's hungry?

no matter how much she wants to, she won't question it. there's no time with the train arriving and the two of them needing to cram their bodies in with the crowd. zelda stretches her arm upward and gently takes hold of one of the straps attached to the bar. as the train begins to move, her body sways into his, and she shoots him an apologetic look. ]

Huh? [ is she... oh, hungry. ] Somewhat. [ her pause gives the impression that she has more to say but she's figuring out the best way to say it. when she does, she's directing a shy look to her feet. ] Truthfully, I... wasn't able to eat much for breakfast because I was looking forward to meeting up with you.

[ butterflies in the stomach didn't leave much room for food. ]

[ Honestly, it's the excitement that's making it hard for him to tell if he's hungry or not. He's just so... excited... about being with her and being to show her more foods and everything that's happened so far — eating is, hilariously enough, the last thing on his mind.

And as they settle on the train, he curls his fingers around one of the bars and when she sways into him, he'll use his free arm to wrap around her shoulders and hold her steady against him. It's all instinct, he doesn't think very much of the action other than just thinking he should make sure she doesn't go too far.

Then he's listening to her answer to his question and goes pink in the face as she confesses. Oh! Ohhhh!!! That's so — oh my gosh. ]

I — I... feel the same way, honestly.

[ He ducks his head a little, feeling just as shy as she was. ]

I was just super effin' excited to see you too. I don't even remember what I ate at this point.

[ that was, sincerely, pretty smooth. zelda doesn't do much to push his arm off her shoulders, either. beneath it, she's restless with this new energy of being so close. forced but not unwelcome.

slowly, she lets go of the strap and reaches to curl her fingers into his shirt. holding there, instead.

he feels the same way. her fingers curl more tightly, clenching at fabric.

a laugh is startled out of her. EFFIN'. ]

Really? [ it's nice to not be alone in this. if she was this excited, only to have ryuji be reluctantly joining her, then how shameful is that? even imagining it makes her stomach drop. ] I'm relieved, actually. Not that you don't remember! That's... I should be concerned but I do understand. At the very least, I'm glad you did eat.

[ unlike her. oops. ]

[ They're so close now, it's kind of pleasant. Even though they're still jostled a little by the other passengers, Ryuji isn't minding it so much for once. Not when he has Zelda close to him like this.

He makes sure to keep himself steady, a good anchor for Zelda as the train ride continues. ]

You... ain't alone in your excitement, Zelda. [ He smiles, soft and warm. ] It's nice to know you feel the same way, to be honest. I just really like spending time with ya too.

[ He gives her a small squeeze in response to that and blushes somewhat but it's nice. This whole thing is really just... nice. ]

It's only a few more stops, then we can get eatin'.

[ zelda isn't minding the bump of elbows either if it means she can shift another centimeter closer as an excuse to avoid them.

she glances at his face with a small smile on hers, cheeks permanently dusted with a rose pink. the warmth of his expression is that -- warm and comforting. as much as his words.

Oh! [ she huffs, giving a small tug to the fabric in her fist in indignance. IT WAS A MOMENT. ]

I am hungry, but why is it that boys are always thinking about food, I wonder.

[ IT WAS ABSOLUTELY A MOMENT. That he ruined. Because he got nervous about it. Let him liiiive.

He grins a little sheepishly at her chiding and ducks his head a little, though that doesn't really do much of anything to hide his embarrassment, since she's shorter than him. ]

W-Well, 'cuz it's food! I just wanna make sure you're full an' happy.

[ I GUESS HE CAN.

if anything, he ducks closer, and zelda has to look up to see him. with the closer proximity of their faces, she's quick to look away. mind jumbled. ]

It's food. [ a repeat of his reasoning. she could laugh again, but she's still too embarrassed thinking about their noses almost touching. ]

... You don't have to worry about one of those things. I am already quite happy.

[ At least, Ryuji is a little too distracted being sheepish to notice the quick moment where their faces were in close proximity. But he listens to her repeat his reasoning and then feels warmth blossom in his chest as she reaffirms her happiness. ]

Ah...! Well, that's good to know. I like you happy.

[ More sheepishness here but then the train jostles and he tightens his arm around her, making sure to keep her upright. They're hugging now, really, which is kind of nice too. ]

[ hugging... !!

she's not used to such affection. rather, it's been a long time since --

look, she may be touch-starved. just a little. ]

But are you happy? [ okay, a lot touch-starved. zelda tucks herself closer to his chest and body. her brow presses against his chest, so she nestles her head beneath his chin. during a more violent jostle, she winds her arms around his waist and locks her fingers together behind his back.

this is... very public. they shouldn't be doing this on a train in front of people. for an audience.

she doesn't pull away. ]

[ It's just a hug. A nice hug, but a hug nevertheless. They shouldn't be ashamed about it, even if it is in public. It has him reaching his free hand up to pet Zelda's hair as she tucks her head against his chest. It's gonna be a shame when they reach their stop and he has to stop, he thinks.

And then she asks him if he's happy and the answer comes easily, with a soft laugh and a smile on his face. ]

I am. I like being with you, Zelda.

[ It makes his heart full and his nerves sing. He can't deny he has feelings for the girl with how he reacts to her, how much he thinks about her, how happy he is around her. He hopes, maybe, after this date, he'll be brave enough to kiss her. ]
