Giving whole new meaning to egg babies

You and your thread partner have found a dragon egg!
- Unexpected treasure: You knew there was something in this box, but not that it was this...
- Put that thing back or so help me! This is not what you signed up for. You would desperately like to get out of this game of very hot potato.
- Hide it! Nefarious people are after the egg and you need to keep it from them.
- Jackpot! You are nefarious people. This is great.
- Sacred trust: You've been charged with this by someone or something.
- Wildcard!

Not like a packful that could unleash rampant carnage in myriad ways. Not like that at all.
He looks into her face, then back to the egg. And though his own expression stays equable, voice steady and light, his frame's already resolved into a certain stance. ]
No.
abso-heckin-lutelyyyy!
Claire knows it's often useless to argue when he's put that stance on, but this time she can't back down. Not with something so precious and rare. The blood of the dragon is in her, from her mother's side, mixed with the powerful and noble blood of her father. Of course there's no guarantee that she can hatch it, yet she still feels obligated to try. ]
Yes. I have to keep it. [ She pauses, her voice quiet, tinged with disappointment. ] It might not even hatch.
<3!
Even dead, [ deliberate with that word; not laying it down with pleasure, but because it's a very possible outcome ] it'd be worth more coin than I'll ever hold. People hounding your trail across three continents, you want to add this to the scent?
And if it does hatch. [ Letting that one hang, cracked like a neck at the end of its rope. He hasn't raised his voice, doesn't rant or throw his hands up in frustration. Just watches her, pragmatic, merciless. ]
Does who you are, what you came from, give you any kind of plan for that?

Yet, here he is, traveling to find an inn as he and his companion can't exactly continue with their way back to the Hideaway at this time. It's gotten dark, and while they are able to easily address any threats, it would be much preferred if they didn't. Not to mention, one of them is carrying a rather large and heavy. . . egg.
And it's not the sickly one who can somehow pack a punch. ]
I'm certain the Loresman would have much to say about this. It's a pity this was left behind. . .
it works for me!! just unfortunately at work rn

Standing there with her hands on her hips, she only just remembers to ask: "Wait, what are you guys trafficking anyway?"
With a tilt of her head she turns to look at the single box and grimaces before she walks her way over and crouches by it, clearly intending to open it.
no subject
He doesn't even turn to look at her when he says it. He knows you! He only turns a little to look at her because there's a good chance she won't listen.
Unfortunately, the poachers are all unconscious...though not dead. You know. In case they need to interrogate someone.
no subject
She's already opened it, one hand on the bottom of the box and one hand on the clearly very open lid.
But it's fine, isn't it? She's still alive and nothing has jumped out of the box to eat her. Figuring that there isn't anything they can do to change the fact that she's opened it, she peers in.... and... it's an egg?
"....Do you guys even have a pan big enough for an omelet this size?"

How delectable looking!!! I confess, I do not know how to cook such a thing, so I shall leave it to thee, Miss Lily!

Hmmm, what to do?]
Cook, you say? While I am sure it can be quite filling, I am not sure that should be our first plan of action.

After his contract came to an end and he lost his purpose, he was swiftly picked up and given a new role as "distinguished protagonist." He made a fresh start in a new environment, joining not one, but two new units, and now both of those units are well on their way to the very top of the industry. As Eden and as Eve, they win competition after competition, have no trouble getting jobs, and even have a video game collaboration coming up! So, all in all, there's very little to complain about.
Except there is one thing. Or, rather, there are two things. First, his schedule is jam-packed, which means he doesn't have that much downtime! And second, these summer temperatures are getting to be unbearable, which is why he's heading back to the dorms as quickly as possible!
At least he'll have Hiiro-kun waiting for him there. Hiiro-kun is polite, obedient and deferential, so he's always willing to do things like fetch Hiyori a cold drink, hold a parasol for him, or let him use the bath first. Things got off to a rocky start there, since Hiiro said all those strange things about "annihilating idols," and since keeping him hidden in his dorm room proved to be a bit challenging. Then there was that whole drama with Hiiro's brother, which is still ongoing—he's not quite sure what Ibara is plotting there, but he gets a bad feeling about it.
Still, overall, Hiyori has very few complaints about Hiiro-kun. He's obedient, he's a fast learner, and he's cute! So, for the first time, Hiyori understands what it's like to have an adorable underclassman to dote on. ... Or maybe a wife to come back to? ... No, that's not quite right... Maybe it's a more like having a loyal dog. (Pets aren't allowed in the dorms, of course, but then again, neither was Hiiro-kun initially.)
Well, no matter what you call him, Hiiro-kun should be waiting inside. Which means it's time to enter the room and give him a big greeting!]
Good afternoon! ♪
[The door bursts open and in walks Hiyori, skipping over to the couch where Hiiro sits.]
Did you have a good day at scho— ... hmm?
[He stops in front of the table and stares.]
What's that thing you have there?
no subject
So he had focused on the idol work he was given. It was tiring and there was a lot he had to learn, but he had been enjoying all that he experienced in the city. Hiyori was also extremely kind, even if he can act spoiled and demanding, something Hiiro got used to after a while. In a way, he finds it cute, because he was honest about his feelings.
He wasn't sure how he felt about school, but he liked learning. He did his best with schoolwork when it was provided, but otherwise...
Well, most of it still devolved into work. Work that Hiiro had been doing hours before Hiyori had come home. Something had seemed off about the assignment, but Hiiro had assumed they knew what they were doing and simply followed instructions.
Which is how he ends up in his current situation, with a large egg wrapped in blankets in his lap, half asleep. When he hears Hiyori's voice, he blinks awake, before he beams at him.]
Hiyori! Welcome home.
no subject
As does the large, round object wrapped in blankets. He still can't guess what that is.]
Long day, huh?
[That's what he assumes based on Hiiro's apparent sleepiness. He takes a seat next to him on the sofa, staring again at Hiiro's lap. There's a new job opportunity he needs to talk to him about, but that can wait until later.]
What's that lump you've got? Another package from home?
[None of the wooden statues that Hiiro got before were that shape, though. This almost looks like a giant egg or something!]
