Perhaps you live in a dorm or an apartment that hasn't seen renovations since the eighties. Maybe your luck has really dried up and your washing machine at home broke the night before a job interview and you haven't done a load of laundry in two weeks. Whatever your story is you've ended up at the local 24-hour laundromat. It could be creeping in on midnight or three in the morning. Either way, the place is a dead zone. Leaving you floating in a liminal space where reality has been stripped down to the sounds of clattering quarters and the continuous thrum of the machines under the buzz of neon lights. This would be a horrible time to bump into someone you know, or worse - a complete stranger while you're staring into the middle distance in nothing but your American flag boxers reading a paperback.

[Hobie is sitting on top of a washing machine across from the one Marc has decided to use, waiting on his own load of superhero laundry, and plucking away at an electric guitar that's absolutely lousy with stickers as he does so. Without an amp it just makes a quiet, tinny little tune, though the way he's doing it there is absolutely no discernable harmony, so maybe he's just making noise. Hobie himself has a riot of facial piercings, big hair, and no shame whatsoever inherent in the way he nosily watches Marc try to go about his business.

Apparently he's not content just to stare, because when Marc has his load started he pipes up (in a heavy British accent):] Let me guess. Moon Face? [Can a guy called Spider-Man really talk? Apparently, yes (that's sorta their thing.)]

(She is very quiet on the way down. Furiosa can have an air about her that doesn't allow for endless questions even though Cheedo has a few, and then more and even more as they descend through the levels of the mall together, walking. She thinks Furiosa would permit maybe two or three, so they should be good ones. So many windows, smashed. A lot of rubble on the ground, and halves of mannequins still wearing scraps of fabric. Cheedo stopped wearing her whites two hundred and thirty-three days ago. One of her favourite things about being free is wearing whatever she likes.

Today, this includes brown, thick-heeled walking boots that belong to the Dag. They are too big for her but she wears woolen socks to make them fit.)

What was this place for? (It slips out. They are walking down an escalator, and Cheedo is running her palm lightly down the handrail as they go. Whatever it's made out of isn't solid. She can dig her fingernails into it and leave little marks in the surface.)

[It's 3am and here he is in pink sweatpants and an obnoxiously glittery shirt advertising something called 'Put your hands up radio' and trying to jam what amounts to an entire wardrobe's worth of clothes into one machine. And then pulling out a bright yellow sleeping bag as the machine starts rattling away ominously.]

I know we have other threads, but I thought this would be funny...

[Kurogiri waits until the early morning hours to deal with the laundry, when the laundromat is likely to be empty, or nearly so. It's not as if he needs much sleep, so he might as well make good use of the time. He can't trust the League's laundry to an outside cleaner. Some of it counts as evidence.

He warps into an out of the way corner of the building before approaching the machines openly. It's not unheard of for someone else to be here at this hour. Citizens have widely varying schedules, so there's nothing remarkable about the presence of another patron. Kurogiri sets down his burdens: a laundry basket full of Tomura Shigaraki's clothes; detergent; dryer sheets; and an extra-strength stain remover. The stain remover is All Might Super Strength ("Knocks Out Stains!"). Kurogiri has found that particular brand to be the most effective, but he avoids displaying the bottle at headquarters. The major manufacturers don't develop villain-themed cleaning products, so he has to make do.

His sole companion, the man in the pink sweatshirt, is initially half-hidden by the clothes he's forcing into a machine. It's not until the man steps back, revealing his face, that Kurogiri recognizes him and stills. He's painfully aware of how conspicuous he is in the desolate morning laundromat. Hm. Maybe this was an unnecessary risk.]

Hobie is having a time of it hunched over a washing machine with what is very, very clearly a Spider-Man suit to anyone familiar, but still plainly a superhero (or villain!) disguise to those who aren't. He is busy painstakingly unscrewing spikes and unhooking studs and pulling out pins one-by-one, making a big mess by piling them up everywhere once they're freed from the fabric, so sorry about anyone trying to get back to a machine nearby. He has no shame at all about the obviousness of what he's doing, given that he's not in his own dimension right now: what's the point of a secret identity on a planet where you don't normally exist?

He definitely sticks out like a sore thumb because of it, there's just something about him that doesn't appear like it belongs on the same plane of existence as the washing machines all around him, like the edges of him aren't entirely contained, cut out from somewhere else and plopped into the world with no finesse. He's got half a dozen piercings in his face alone, absolutely huge hair, this shirt on, with no remorse.

And his accent is violently British when he turns to ask whoever might be nearby: "Oi, got a quid?"

It's a testament to Darcy's affinity for weirdness in her life that she hasn't even looked up from her book where she's seated on a table. She's vaguely aware of everything around her, but she's also lost in the printed words on the pages. Reading helps pass the time during laundry. Her building's amenities are out, and her super has been dragging his heels about getting it fixed. So here she is.

It's when she hears the question that she finally notices him. Her hand is already reaching into her pocket for the little baggie of quarters she keeps specifically for this.

"How much you need?" she asks, finally peering at him. As his appearance registers, she quirks a grin. "Nice shirt," she compliments.
