if we’re going by 2099 comics (he’s canonically not that spider-man, but aside), lyla is his “type” he’s historically drawn to. brilliant justice-driven women who are on their own journey and maybe have to put up with being a hero too. so plausible.

depending if one or both is hiding something, from his side he compartmentalizes his spider-man role and doesn’t necessarily like the qualities it brings out. he’s used to being that 90% of the time, but making more and more space for not-spider-man miguel may prove him being more and more dishonest about either 1) who he is or 2) what has him on an emotional landline all the time. and he definitely would not share the existence of a person he cares about with anyone else.
