Ah, summer: sunny days, clear skies, and endless days of freedom (or at least, childhood memories thereof). It's also the perfect time of year for festivals! So grab a friend or a date, don your concert outfit or your traditional attire, and enjoy the season of fun in the sun!

Traditional Japanese summertime festivals feature fun foods, performances, dance, and music. Enjoy a walk around the festival grounds with a friend or sweetheart, and conclude your day by watching fireworks over the water!

[ She could be dragged almost anywhere and the idea of a festival was nice, especially lately. Neither of them expected to stumble on something like this, but she also isn't surprised that when people survive they find a way to celebrate -- long-term, in particular. Joel hadn't needed to force her to come along, though she had been a touch hesitant at first before agreeing that she was willing and ready. After all, if he was going to go, so was she.

Naturally, she wasn't expecting a love festival since there are kids running around, but she supposes love comes in different forms. They've dealt with a little noisy excitement so far and she's happy to carry on but she needs a break from the hectic, busy borderline craziness of it all. It's clear that she needs to recharge when she tugs at his arm and pulls him toward the side behind all the stalls and toward the sidewalk and a few littered trees that offer a bit of protection from the setting sun's glow. ]

Alright, just give me a moment. [ She takes his hand into hers and gently presses her lips to it, smiling almost toothily before letting his hand settle against the crook of her neck while she slightly leans against it. ] It's a little much for me, I guess. Hordes of monsters? No big deal. People? It's another thing.

[With an excited bounce in her feet, wide red eyes take in the sight of the Matsuri Festival lights that were twinkling in the distance. The sun was just starting to set so it was easy to see the way the booths were lit up, the smell of the festival food, and the laughter of people and family. To join in the festivities, Sae wore a loose-fitting baby blue Kimono (enough that it let her tiny black wings breathe underneath the fabric) with bright-colored flowers decorating the surface of it. Her long snow-white hair was in a half ponytail, the rest of her hair flowing down her back in faint curls.

The hair tie holding her ponytail together was in the shape of a colorful butterfly, the only splash of color in her white locks. Slung over her shoulders was a small purse that held her phone and extra money inside to spend.]

Uwoooh...!! [She happily runs inside, excitement forming on her face. The first stall she sees she immediately makes a beeline for, quickly buying a strawberry and cream-filled crepe. After she pays for her snack she bounces off, excitedly munching on her snack. He said he would be here.. Maybe I arrived too early? Sae was a little nervous since this was the first Matsuri Festival she has ever been to. At least she was doing it with a friend.]

[ festivals are new to him, though frankly? pretty much anything can be new to him again. memories are fleeting and rarely held onto, because they simply slip away. why would he when music is what keeps him alive and attentive? that he gets to perform with his two favorite people (and the only people) in the world! and somehow he got separated from them, because of course he would wander and just...

... oh! a familiar face? yeah. she looks familiar enough! didn't he make a promise to... yeah. he did. that thought bubbles up before popping and he takes comically large strides over, hands behind his back. the smile on his face is for two reasons: that he could correctly recall telling his kei-chan and big brother itsuki that he had to go and see her. a fan? a friend? either way, he's happy. ]

[ a wave before he places a hand onto her shoulder. ]

Ooh, what'cha eating? I'm starving.

..! [She jumps at the sound of his voice which just so happens to snap her out of her thoughts as she turns around to greet him, expression shifting into one of relief when she recognizes who he is. The wave is returned and her eyes flicker down to her half-eaten crepe. Sae sheepishly wipes her mouth and fingers clean with the napkin clenched in her hands. She shows off the tasting-looking crepe, pointing to the stand nearby to let him know where she got it. In fact, she carefully unwraps more of it, ripping off a small portion from the bottom which she offers to Rokuta with a beaming smile.

Even though she hadn't said anything, the look on her face was expressive enough to scream 'Here, take this!' even if she hadn't outright said it. Once the offered piece of food was taken, she takes another happy bite from her crepe, her free hand wiggling to pull out her phone from its resting spot. Her phone's text-to-speech app was incredibly helpful when it came to helping her communicate with others.] Hello! Are you enjoying the festival so far?

[ he gasps! what a tasty looking pancake??? a thin pancake. that's what he sees. rokuta is more than happy to slowly and carefully take the torn bit at first before shoving it into his mouth and begin energetically chowing down.

but he's already grown accustomed to her way of communicating. if that's how she does it, then that's how it is. why would he ever complain? at least she can hold a phone without accidentally breaking it. this is why rokuta has to use his with an ounce of care and a pound of sensitivity. ]

I am! There are so many people and they're all having a lot of fun! I saw dancing and I tried to join them, but I sort of knocked a few of them around so...

... they told me to go try singing instead, but I don't like doing that without my other friends. So I guess you're stuck with me for a little if that's okay!

[ It's not like she invited America to Tanabata this year with any ulterior motives - the boisterous blonde has been complaining that she wants to experience more cultural events at Japan's home and it is the perfect opportunity. Summer festivals are an iconic staple in anime and manga and sure to entertain and delight her friend.

Japan's already dressed herself in a slightly nerdy, season-appropriate white and yellow yukata. She lays out several designs on the tatami floor of the selected guest room for America this stay. ]
