After the events in the sewer and Selena's impromptu shock therapy, there was nothing for her to do but crawl away for a time and lick her wounds, so to speak. She spent a few days in hiding, avoiding Gotham PD and other interested parties but that wouldn't last forever. She needed a cover story and she only knew one other person who was just as invested in an alibi for the events of that night as she was.
That brought her here, to Alfred the charming and stately butler who ushered her into the foyer and out of the rain. With softly murmured words of comfort he fetched her a towel and promised her a hot cup of tea which he seemed to find more important than letting Bruce know she was there for the moment.
The butler seated her in the living room and stoked the fire, before excusing himself again for the tea and to see Mr. Wayne. Selena was left wondering if she'd done the right thing or if she should have just left the city when she had the chance. She still could, after they worked out a cover story. It was the waiting that was disquieting her mind over thought things, there were only so many ways to say 'Hi, nice to see you. How've you been since I killed my boss?'

Rumlow had been hanging around Carter's place like a stray cat for a few weeks now, and he'd made the most of his situation to cultivate relationships with her security detail and comb through information. He'd completed a few odd jobs on his own, but he did still owe her. Plus, their verbal outmaneuvering each other was entertaining, though there were far more interesting parts of her 'art' business he found even more entertaining these days.
It was why he didn't fight or even bitch about going on an op where he had to act the boyfriend part. All other interactions was mostly him trying to push buttons or sussing out information from someone, but the moment he was dressed as she wanted him dressed and following her into the high-end club, it was like a switch flipped and he was all business.
He settled into the part that she required him to play with the ease of someone who had been playing the world around him for decades. He even went so far as to hold her left hand as they moved through the crowd of undulating bodies dancing on the floor. She had the lead, and he was her back up for anything that went wrong. He knew for a fact she was armed, and he made use of his dress slacks and dress shirt to arm himself to the teeth too. He glared at a few guys who were checking her out, making it clear he'd put their noses in the back of their skulls with just a look.]
Four obvious armed gents in suits on the second floor. Four others still armed but they're hiding it. Just give the word, babe.

This particular op didn't require the heavy weight of the Power Breaker. It required finesse. It required Sharon and a partner. Unfortunately, the partner was Rumlow since head the only one with the kind of skills she needed. He'd lingered around and served his purpose. She had to admit that he was rather helpful. A pain in her ass, but useful.
She wore a shimmering black dress that clung to her form. There was a low back that exposed an expanse of creamy skin. Her hair was curled half pinned up. She led the way into a private booth at the club. The aim was to gain entrance into the private rooms of the back.
The owner of this club, a man named Dresden, had something she wanted. He'd stolen from the Power Broker, a valuable piece of tech she'd promised to sell to a buyer. He'd stolen it from underneath her and announced it to the world that he'd gotten one over on the Power Broker.
She'd told Rumlow it was a piece of priceless art. She'd seen in his eyes he hadn't believed her. A bottle girl came by with complimentary drinks for them on a tray. Sharon took a glass as she pressed closer to him. ]

The fact that Dresden decided to have a go at the Power Broker and then he and Carter were showing up was an interesting parallel. He'd seen enough of her hard edges in that last few weeks to start to have hunches that were, as of yet, unconfirmed. It was another reason that he was here without complaint; hell, he didn't even consider this an actual payment for what he owed her.
He took a drink from the tray and brought it to his lips, smelling it first then a tongue taste to confirm what it was. He didn't drink alcohol on an op as it was a great way to bungle the whole deal, and in his old line of work, that could be a death sentence. He was a survivor, so he stuck to his rules. He still made it look like he was nursing the drink anyway.]
Not the kind of flies like Dresden. He owns this sweet deal, doesn't he? [He leaned his face in and pretended to be kissing her temple even if he didn't make actual contact.] I've heard a few stories about him and everyone knows the size of his ego. So where are we actually aiming to go? Upstairs or in the back?

[ Her body was pressed close to his, so they could talk. It gave the illusion that they were lost in their own world which only fed the cover they were putting out there. She felt the warmth of his breath against her skin. His lips were close, but not touching. It strangely sent a shiver down her spine.
She took another sip of her drink. It took a lot to get her drunk nowadays. A few sips wouldn't kill her. She listened to the options. ]
Upstairs. We're going in the obvious way. A meeting.

[While he might have died with maximum collateral damage - he'd read up on the incident - STRIKE tended to keep things a bit more precise. Anyone could plant a bomb, but stealing into a building and kidnapping someone or using finesse to thread the needle on hitting only necessary targets were where the real fun could be.
His eyes tracked the people on the dance floor but also those passing by their table then flicked up to examine the flock of people on the second floor. Armed security, probably business associates or friends, and those who were trying to weasel their way into the social group where it wouldn't go their way.
He backed off just enough to let her have a sip of her drink easily, resting his forehead against her temple so he could continue to observe yet still appear very enamored with his 'date'.]

[ Her words are mocking, but she is showing him some trust by having him here with her. She's trusting him to have her back and not double cross the first chance she gets. He's still in her orbit, face against hers. His warm breath is on her skin. She turns her head so they're close, sharing that same breath. It looks as though they might kiss. ]

[He mocked her right back, lacing tendrils of seriousness just to see if he could throw her off her game a little. Until he knew the full extent of her business and how far her intelligence tendrils went, he knew better than to put a knife in her back. There was a time and a place for that, and in the middle of an op wasn't it.
He was keenly aware of her physical closeness as he continued to assess the situation casually. This wasn't either of their first rodeos in such situations after all, and he'd been well debriefed on the role that he should play.]

[He knew there was something else going on, but he'd think on his feet when she finally deigned to put him in the situation of why they were really here. He figured this was a test on his performance as much as her getting what she wanted.]

His eyes were already moving elsewhere to scope the exits, pretending he needed to turn his head to view how much room he had rather than looking for the entrance to see who was being let in.]
