It's the middle of the night and you're trying to catch some z's — or brooding alone in the alleys, as one does — when your phone dings and suddenly a stranger or a friend is texting you. What could they possibly want at this hour? Is it important? Stupid? Are they drunk or maybe just needy? Do they need help hiding a body??? Pick up your phone and find out!

Before I become a paragon of evil and rob the teaching world of one of the good ones just to waste all her talents making her fetch coffee for me, I should quit while I'm ahead. ...right?

You. And that poem you were talking about the other night. I realized I started that conversation with "I'm not really a poetry person" but apparently I'm just enough of one to be reflecting at a late hour.

Agree to disagree although I will say I wasn't trying to put the moves on you purposefully. But as a side effect of late night poetry musing I think that's not terrible.

I've tried to cut back on taking the suit for personal joyrides unless I really have to. People start talking. But a car I can do. Which also has cupholders. Late night coffee and poetry discussion. You might make a scholar out of me yet.

Obviously don't hope for a lot on that one, though.

Obviously none in English lit and here's where I'd say something potentially rude about English lit majors if I wasn't also trying to still play it cool with you.

Oh trust me, I've heard it all from my friends who majored in sciences.

And I'm even worse than regular lit, I specialize in poetry.

Yeah but you're the only one I personally know that actually made me contemplate said specialized poetry.

[And he definitely hangs out in certain circles where people think they're smarter than they are and talk about things like this nonstop. Things he doesn't listen to because god could anything be more boring? But this was different. Maybe mostly just because she's definitely not one of those people. And maybe he likes listening to her talk.]
