Bloodlust
![]() In most vampire media, the relationship between maker and fledglings is many things: parental, sibling, an apprenticeship, even antagonistic. Just as often, there's a romantic undertone, as well. For what could connect anyone more than the sharing of blood, of the dark gift?
† UNDEFINED → The nature of your bond is complex and unclear to outsiders. Perhaps even to both of you, as well. † DYSFUNCTIONAL → There's a lot of bad blood between you, yet you can't hate each other fully. † FORBIDDEN → Any sort of relationship beyond the vampiric-familial would be frowned upon by both human society and the underworld. † LOVERS → Why not? No one else will understand you like they do, and you probably won't have to worry about outliving them. |

Navigating all her new senses was at first overwhelming, and her draw as a muse seemed to have only intensified. It's why she had been staying away from people for a while, just with Matthew while she adjusted to her new life.
Their relationship was also still being discovered, a bond that they would never be able to break.
"Am I always going to be so hungry?" She paces, unable to find a place for her nervous energy.
[ooc- let me know if you'd like anything changed.]

"But I have a gift for you." He smiles faintly, forcing all thoughts of genetic disease from his mind and taking his new fledgling gently by the hand. With quiet but quick steps they stalk the hill behind Sept-Tours until their vampiric ears can pick up on it - the dull thudding of a heartbeat. Matthew looks at Stella and raises an eyebrow, wondering if she'll know to hunt the elk on her own or if he'll have to drop more hints.

Her hand gives his a little squeeze, she knows that he is uneasy with her for more reasons than just her new hunger. She hasn't asked yet, she feels like she needs to get to know him better first.
As they walk she notices that everything seems sharper in her vision, and the sounds are almost piercing to her ears. But then she picks up the thumping, steady and rhythmic; and the breeze blows just right and she can smell the elk.
"Dinner." She gives him a little smile, it's all the control she can manage before instinct takes over and she is running after an elk. Stella has never killed more than a bug before, but the only thing she can focus on is the smell of the elk and the ache in her stomach.

He keeps a few yards behind her as the elk runs for its life. Matthew knows the prey in this area are aware of their type of predator, maybe they've even been preparing for the two of them.

She hopes Matthew is nearby to aid. It is her first time, afterall.

"We've talked about this. You can't go around slaughtering entire villages. We eat what we need to survive. No more."
It's a wonder the townspeople aren't already banging on their door with torches and pitchforks. He had given Xue Yang the same speech his own maker had given him. One should only kill when it is necessary, and never ever draw unwanted attention. They're creatures of the night, and belong in the shadows.

Sadly, his sire is a killjoy.
Xue Yang makes a face at Wei Wuxian. "But that's no fun."
no subject
It's too close to sunrise to think about moving on, but come nightfall they'll start heading out. Further north, he thinks. He hasn't even eaten his own meal yet, too preoccupied with trying to cover Xue Yang's tracks. Waiting until he's on the verge of starvation to finally eat isn't something he's unfamiliar with.
He's always been uncomfortable with this side of his new nature. He's gotten better about knowing his limits, wanting to avoid another episode. He doesn't take pleasure in it like Xue Yang seems to, but he's accidentally committed his own atrocities. If he were to wait too long to eat, bloodlust would take over and he'd be completely out of control. One more night should be manageable, though.
"What's so fun about useless carnage anyway?"
no subject
The question earns Wei Wuxian a look from Xue Yang as though he's the crazy one. "What's not fun about it? People like that used to give me shit all the time when I was a kid, just because I lived on the streets. Now they can't do anything against me!"

Re: jun wu • tgcf • m/m for shipping
Xie Lian hadn't expected to run across him accidentally, though it is a bigger city - and a nicer part of a city - than he usually visits. He doesn't want to take up Jun Wu's time with his unimportant affairs, but not greeting him would be far worse. He hasn't lost all his training in proper manners.
no subject
Of course, he pretends to be surprised to see him.
"Ah, Xianle. Greetings." Jun Wu lets a smile touch his lips. "How unexpected, to run into you here. I hope you are well?"
no subject
"I've been very well, My Lord." Objectively questionable, but spoken with complete sincerity. "I'm very lucky to met you again. I hope you've been well."
no subject
"That is good to hear." Jun Wu's tone of voice comes across as just as sincere, with a soft undertone. He's always been good at pretending. (Maybe because it hadn't always been pretense). "I am well. What brings you here?"
no subject
"I've been hired to help move some paintings around. It's not bad at all."
no subject
"I see. Have you found someplace to stay?" he asks, tilting his head curiously.
no subject
"Not yet! But something always comes up."
no subject
"Why don't you come stay with me again? Perhaps on a more permanent basis this time?" he suggests, as if the idea had just occurred to him, and not been part of his plan.
no subject
"Sorry to trouble you. But I'd be very grateful to have a place to spend the night."
no subject
Calling it his "home" is a little too modest for what it actually is. A mansion would more accurately describe it. And he's not actually lying about it being lonely. He can admit that he has missed having company.

"I was just out for a walk. I prefer the city in the evening. It's quieter, and the air feels fresher." He lips quirk into another smile. Xie Lian would at least already be familiar with his tendency to stay up all night and sleep until sundown, though he's of course not divulged the real reason for this.
no subject
Xie Lian had found it a touch odd, not that he'd ever focused on people's strange habits. Besides, many of those he used to know had been more likely to be up at night than at dawn. These days, he'd just say that most people are pretty odd, in one way or another.
"It does. It's been a while since I've been in a city. I've mostly been traveling through smaller towns and villages." He assumes that Jun Wu wouldn't have any knowledge, let alone interest, in what he's been up to since they last met. "They have their own rhythms, but it's also nice to be somewhere where it doesn't feel like everyone goes to sleep at sundown."
no subject
"Those places do have their charms," Jun Wu agrees. He likes the quiet of smaller towns and villages, but it's much harder to blend in. While he is known in this city, as a lord, he is not the only wealthy person, nor the only nobility who lives in the area. His mansion is outside of the city limits, a little secluded, but still within a reasonable distance of the city.
"Ah, Xianle, have you eaten?" he asks as he starts to steer his steps towards home.
no subject
"Oh, yes. I had a nice lunch." He's a little distracted.
It is nice to see Jun Wu again, but it's stirring up certain matters he'd thought firmly put to rest. He shakes his head, doing his best to focus on the present.
no subject
He notices that Xie Lian seems distracted all of a sudden, and he wonders what is going through his mind. "Are you feeling alright?" he asks gently.
no subject
Xie Lian firmly focused on the here and now. Which means fully focusing on Jun Wu. It would be poor repayment of his kindness to offer anything less. He smiles at him. Xie Lian might try to be a bit more careful, but he hasn't lost any of the intensity he applies to anything he turns his attention to.
"Yes, I'm sorry. I'm afraid that I've really become to unused to cities."
no subject
He smiles and gently pats Xie Lian's shoulder. "Ah, yes, they can be distracting. There is a lot to see."
no subject
He hasn't lost his respect for Jun Wu - one of the few people left he can say that about, but he'd say he's grown up quite a bit since they last met.
"Yes, maybe I'll try to look around. There's no reason not to take advantage of those distractions, for a bit."
no subject
"Indeed. Perhaps tomorrow you can explore the city." Right now, he's steering Xie Lian towards the city limits. They could take a carriage back to his mansion, but it's not that long of a walk. Jun Wu prefers walking anyway.
no subject
"Yeah, I suppose I should probably go during the day. I've heard they have very nice markets..." He prefers walking, too. Besides, he's still not entirely certain that it's right to take Jun Wu up on his kind offer, but it's easier not to dwell on that while walking instead of when faced directly with a carriage.
no subject
Soon enough, the large mansion comes into view. It's slightly shrouded by the nature surrounding it, and it looks, for lack of a better word - kind of creepy. The kind of place local kids would swear is haunted. And well, they wouldn't be entirely wrong.
