[ It's... kind of a pain, right now. Literally a pain, because Ishmael is pretty damn sure one leg is broken and fighting with a broken leg is not only undignified-looking as hell but it's also painful as hell and Dante is nowhere in sight, along with the rest of the Sinners. Probably to be expected during an ambush where the enemy vastly outnumbered them, but. Inconvenient.

Somehow, she and Heathcliff make it through, and she's grateful she doesn't have to try to drag a dead body with her, unceremoniously just... slumping against a wall with all weight on her good leg. ]

[ ooc; since i'm still working on her journal, here is the abridged version: evelyn is a protector aasimar, peace domain cleric of helm from baldur's gate. she has seen her fair share of battles, injuries, and general unpleasantness as she tries to bring comfort and healing to the ten towns of icewind dale as they endure the frigid and unforgiving everlasting night.

as a cleric, she only has so many spell slots to go around before her healing runs out, but she's skilled in medicine, so she can patch you up so you aren't bleeding out. hopefully, you have a healing potion in your pack or can make it to her next long rest to get her spells back.

The aftermath of the battle is ugly.

Drowning in its endless night, Ten-Towns has been continually beset by creatures from the Underdark seething out of the ground, all teeth and hungry claws. A few wandering adventurers have been joining the fight to stave them off, rotating shifts in and out, but it’s hard and never-ending work.

But tonight the town casts a circle of lonely night into the darkness, and a lean figure comes trudging in from the cold. A tiefling, tall at 6’0”, with distinctive red skin and horns and a tail coiling behind him, bearing a greataxe which looks a little too big for him. His black eyes blink, not needing to carry a torch to see in the darkness. There’s blood dripping on the snow behind him as he wavers on his feet, carrying a crumpled form slung over his other shoulder like wet tissue paper. Is the blood his, or hers, or both? Likely both.

“There’s probably a reward,” he says to the air. “Listen. How do I get paid if all the townspeople are dead?”

Beat. He cocks his head, as if he’s listening to a voice no one else can hear. (He is.)

“If she was out here in that shitshow, she’s probably another adventurer. She’s probably got money. I think. Failing that, at least it’s another pair of helping hands because I’m fucking tired of fighting those things—”

Is he talking to himself?

Regardless. The tiefling trudges towards the tavern in town, hauling his unconscious burden with him, and he’s almost there— when he feels her stirring, the squirming kick of a leg surprised to find itself being carried by a stranger, and “Oh no—” and they both go tumbling into a snowdrift with an ignoble yelp.
