It's one thing to be in a relationship with someone; it's another beast entirely to be on the exact same page, the same wavelength as them, almost like you're the same person - two halves to a whole. As far as the two of you go, you're both. Maybe being in a romantic relationship may be anathema, but you don't care. This is just another way for you to be completely in sync.

proмpтѕ
Force & Calm: Every yin needs a yang. Power is nice, but you can't just turn yours off, you have to have someone - a very specific someone - defuse you.
Healer & Fighter: Violence has the nasty habit of often causing injury. It's beneficial to have your own personal medic around.
Brain & Brawn: Point them in the right direction and they'll destroy everything in your path.
Powers Intertwined: Your ability requires the ability of the other person to work correctly.
Weapon: If someone has to use you, it might as well be them.
Shared Trauma: No one understands what you've been through except them, because your past is the same.
Telepathically Connected: You're of the same mind, quite literally.
Team Mates: Some people just work better together, and out of your big team, you two work seamlessly as a subunit.
Part of Each Other: There's a part of them that lives in you, whatever that may be. It's hard to stay away when that lost piece is constantly calling out.
Tragedy: When your other half is in danger of being taken away, what will you do?
All complications involving Thanos aside, Loki has decided that the benefits far outweigh the potential pitfalls. Take the Scepter he wields: the Mind Stone within is a marvelous, if often overtaxing, thing. Shift his attention to the left, and he can be watching through Selvig's eyes, feeling the childlike joy of building something new and world-changing. Shift his attention to the right, and split it with infinite care and finesse, and he can occupy the consciousness of one or more of his endless drones, intent on nothing more than serving their new master.
And then there's Barton.
Heart may be one thing, but the archer is truly in a class of his own. Not quite autonomous creative, not quite mindless and blunt tool. No, Barton is a strange blend of both and somehow neither, a finely honed weapon, and Loki delights in every chance he gets to wield him. It is no accident that he often turns his attention to that quarter, sometimes simply to observe and enjoy.
Right now his asset is returning back to base, tearing his way through his old comrades to do so, and it is fairly delicious to witness that level of power, the hold he has over the man. But Loki also knows there is more to it than this: a sense of true connection that transcends Barton's immediate duties. He knows not why the bond is so strong between they two in particular; just that it provides just as much comfort as it does spiteful joy.
A small smile taking some of the haggardness from his features, Loki awaits Barton's return with an eagerness that still surprises him, and only when he sees himself through the archer's eyes (that alone is enough to send a perverse rush of pleasure through him) does he break that connection, looking up from his meditative gaze to greet him.
"Any problems?" As if he didn't already know precisely how this particular mission went.
[[Info + preferences. Good for anything for gen, M/M if shippy. He's got a bad handle on his powers in a way that make him a good option for force in #1 and brawn in #3, but I'm up to any option.]]
