[ It started with an ill-timed bandit attack. Despite Roland's proficiency with his Arms Band and sword, there was little to be done when two were outnumbered by plenty, enough to consider a hasty retreat before any harm came not only to himself, but to Hibiki. ]

[ The command to run soon followed, but what bandit of merit would any of them be without committing to the chase? Roland and Hibiki ran across the thick of the forest, twists and turns that were just confusing enough to lose each bandit one by one, until eventually they're led to a riverbank just shallow enough to cross. ]

So much for taking a stroll to the next village over.

[ The adrenaline rush catches up to Roland in an instant. With labored breaths, he attempts to gather his wits about him, glancing around to ensure none followed in their route. When all seemed well enough, his attention turns to Hibiki, whose distance from him is crossed with hurried strides- ]

[- except his hurried strides only lead him to bump straight into her. Not only did he not notice their proximity, but that his hand had instinctively grabbed unto hers, fingers tightly woven together in their escape. He would blush if he were a lesser man, but instead he calms himself, apologizes under his breath, yet allows only the briefest of touches to remain, not quite letting her gloved hand go. ]

[ First thing's first. He might be too close for comfort, but he takes this time to survey Hibiki herself just the same, for any injuries during their run, or if she had gotten hurt during the initial bandit ambush. ]
