Hades & Persephone.

Persephone was gathering flowers with the Oceanids along with Artemis and Athena—the Homeric Hymn says—in a field when Hades came to abduct her, bursting through a cleft in the earth. Demeter, when she found her daughter had disappeared, searched for her all over the earth with torches. In most versions she forbids the earth to produce, or she neglects the earth and in the depth of her despair she causes nothing to grow. Helios, the sun, who sees everything, eventually told Demeter what had happened and at length she discovered the place of her abode. Finally, Zeus, pressed by the cries of the hungry people and by the other deities who also heard their anguish, forced Hades to return Persephone. Hades indeed complied with the request, but first he tricked her, giving her some pomegranate seeds to eat. Persephone was released by Hermes, who had been sent to retrieve her, but because she had tasted food in the underworld, she was obliged to spend a third of each year (the winter months) there, and the remaining part of the year with the gods above.

To live your life in darkness is no easy task. Evil may be just a point of view - one you may not ascribe to yourself - but a black heart or a ruthless mind is hardly quieted. While you don't regret what you've done, at least not outwardly, you do wonder if there isn't something more. Grey morality has discolored your world.

That is, until you see them.

They are beautiful, pure, good: everything that you are not. You should be annoyed or at least ambivalent to their presence; after all, they serve you no purpose, promise you no gain. But oddly enough, you are drawn to them, and not even in hopes to destroy or corrupt. No, you want to have them, to keep them with you. What to do with this newfound feeling?

Act on it, of course. You've never let anything stop you before. What you don't realize (or perhaps do, you just don't exactly care) is that the object of your...affection may not be too keen on being taken what they see as prisoner. Yet you only have their best interests at heart! Still, you do care for them, in your own fashion, more than almost anyone else, so surely a deal can be struck...

You just couldn't bear to lose them.

This meme, obviously, is inspired by the myth of Hades and Persephone. Feel free to be as literal or as loose with your interpretations as you'd like.

[Marik had never been a fan of these social gatherings of the Gods. Even with the three pantheons being similar and somewhat interchangeable, each God was still their own being, watching over their people and performing their functions as need be.

Why would you bother inviting a God of the underworld or death to your party if you wanted everyone to be happy though? No one liked talking about the subject outside of some of the Egyptian Gods but most were an odd sort. His father rarely bothered to attend which is why he decided to send Marik in his place this particular time.

The jackal boy keeps to himself, an aura of darkness surrounding him. Occasionally someone looks his way or acknowledges his presence but no one goes out of their way to speak with him. Eventually he wanders further away from the main gathering hall and that's when he spots her.

A beautiful being, her soul shining brightly - not like the harsh sun but like the welcoming, soothing glow of the moon in the night sky. He feels his breath leave him for a moment, eyes wide as he watches her like a predator with a hint of intrigue.

He wants that light for himself. She could stay by his side as he passes judgement on those who make their journey to him, keeping him sane, letting him know that he's loved... and safe. Who she is means little to him, whether she be a priestess, a lower god, or one of the God's offspring. All he knows is that she will be his.

With intense lavender eyes locked soley on her, Marik approaches the woman, his gaze hollow but hungry in a way. His jackal ears shift back slightly and he holds a hand out towards her.]

You. Who are you?

[A party for the gods of the different pantheons was something Serenity had been looking forward to for quite sometime. She was going with her mother to finally be introduced as her daughter. A coming of age moment for the young goddess, in a way. But, there was a change of plans at the last minute. Her mother told her that the time wasn’t right, and her moment to shine would come later.

Her identity would be kept a secret, only known as a maiden of the moon and a servant of Artemis or Luna, depending upon region. It dampened Serenity’s mood, but surely, there had to be a reason why her mother changed her mind.

Putting on a brave face, she entered the party, staying close to her mother until she found others who interested her. A young woman with blue hair who was quite intelligent, and another with a fiery aura. They talked about a few things until Serenity excused herself to explore some of the main banquet hall. She didn’t realize someone was watching her, or that they were coming closer to her until she was about to head beyond the banquet doors.

Serenity paused, slowly turning around to see who called out to her. Darkness tickled the edge of her senses, but she didn’t recoil or pull away. Instead, her blue eyes met intense lavender ones, and felt strange. As though she was staring down a wild animal, one she knew would give chase, but at the same time…protective? Strange.

Her eyes dipped down to the extended hand then back up to his lavender eyes. ]

I am a humble servant of the Moon Goddess.

[ She murmured, dipping into a low curtsy, hands tugging on either side if her dress. Technically, it wasn’t a lie. She was there to do the bidding of her mother. ]

Is there something I may you with, Your Grace?

[He had to be a good, judging the jackal ears he had and the power he exuded. ]
