For ages, flowers have been inextricably tied with love and romance. Some cultures set aside time to appreciate the transient beauty of springtime blossoms with family, friends, and loved ones. Others have canonized a tradition of gifting flowers to express feelings of love, sympathy, and gratitude, among other messages. And of course, flowers are just plain nice to look at. Whatever way you shake it, a lovely bloom is best admired with another person.

[shalem has no bloody clue what a flower means in any of the flower languages, but that's fine by him. he's quite happy to arrange a bouquet in what's most aesthetically pleasing to him, anyway. this time, he's managed an array of flowers that makes him smile, a gradient with an outer ring of orange, to an inner circle of soft pink. he did annoy the flower shop employees by insisting on doing this himself, but he wanted only his hands on this arrangement, on these flowers, until he can deliver them to their recipient.

I think their bright colours go well with you. [which is not a proper answer to the question, but it's what shalem was thinking when he put this bouquet together.

[ in his hands, they're a stark contrast to the dark gloves he wears. he's never worn anything different--- the faux leather, the belts, the mask that hangs around his neck with his braids. leaks has never known color except for when near others. they are the color in his life.

In a way, I suppose so. [ he frowns anyway. ] But I have nothing to give to you right now.

[oh leaks. he's unaware, is he? shalem reaches out and takes a lock of the feline's hair in hand, rubbing it between his thumb and forefinger. shalem chose them specifically because of the colour of leaks' hair... and his eyes.]

Your hair and eyes have ever been your most striking features, and I wanted to call attention to that with the bouquet. No repayment necessary.

[ he's very unaware. he could be the most handsome or the ugliest, and he wouldn't know. the concept of beauty is beyond him. ]

Hm? [a curious request from leaks, but shalem has no reason to deny him, when he has never been given reason to distrust.

he closes his eyes, and jolts when he feels the kiss against him, but he doesn't stay startled for too long-- he opens his eyes and wraps his arms around leaks' shoulders.]

[ both ears flatten, his tail going low and still. ]

What, is that not enough? [ leaks suddenly feels jittery, his heart sinking low in tandem. ] Did you want more?

[ it's not like he can't give shalem another but it's like. come on. it's so hard to be affectionate!!! ]

Apologies. [except he doesn't look apologetic in the least. shalem is still smiling, hands clasped behind his back.]

I'm quite greedy.

Of course you are.

[ he can feel an eyebrow threatening to visibly twitch, but he keeps his ears somehow from sinking any lower. any further and they'd be tickling his brain. ]

Then I suppose I can spare you another one or two.

[ one smooch. two smooches. one on each cheek. will that suffice? leaks can't be sure... ]

[shalem chuckles softly as he watches leaks try and satisfy him-- poor feline. eventually, he takes pity on leaks, and leans in for a proper kiss, on the lips, with closed eyes and all, and refusing to pull away immediately.

his poor, poor feline, struggling so much when the answer was simple.]

[ ugh!!! the worst part is knowing he doesn't have all the answers? perhaps he's overthinking it.

or maybe he's getting what he should've been giving all along right now.

while leaks could try to break it, he's not willing to. no... this feels pleasant enough. not a waste of his time. just like shalem, who is precious to him. ]

[shalem chuckles softly when leaks finally gets with it, and he leans in more, opening his mouth in an offer. it's only polite to give him a little warning before he deepens the kiss, after all.

even if that warning comes only a second before he actually does it, shalem pressing against leaks even more.]
