High in the Preventer HQ building, Quatre Winner sat at his desk, rigid from head to toe at the sight of what his computer screen told him. No, this wasn’t happening. He wouldn’t let it. On his feet in a heartbeat, he only took a second to scoop a worn, overstuffed manila file folder into his arms before he marched out of his office. Down the hall and to the right was where he’d find him. Surely he knew what was coming, so Quatre didn’t bother to knock before blowing straight past the unlocked door that read “Barton”.

“You can’t do this alone, Trowa,” he proclaimed, slapping the file folder down on the other man’s desk. Various documents and photos peeked out of it. “It’s too dangerous to go alone! You can’t!”

They would have to wait, and not for any reason most people might be inclined to understand, least of all a man who was revved and raring to go. Her loyalty to that hoodoo, tea leaf and egg yolk reading divination had probably been cute, at least up until the point it cock blocked him. They were waiting, she'd explained, lamenting but the nonetheless firm, for a sign.

Sign took a few weeks close to a month. A stretch of time in which the most action either of them had gotten was some heavy petting and heated making out. According to her, she was just as frustrated as he was which, admittedly, might have been hard, among other things, for him to believe. But she was, proving as much when, instead of waiting, she'd shown up at his door in the wee hours of morning, before the birds could even be bothered to wake up. ]
