The Immortal & Mortal Romance Meme

You'll outlive this person, it's a given. Their lifespan compared to yours is but a speck, an ant in the eyes of a god. You're immortal - or, at least, extremely long-lived - and they're doomed to die. Yet, somehow, you've begun to love them. Will you nip this in the bud and try to cut things out from the root...or will you let yourself be set up for inevitable loss?

prompts;

unspoken: There's something between you that is more than platonic, and you both understand it though you've never discussed it.
pursuit: Someone admits their feelings; an attempt at courtship may begin, though what qualifies as "courtship" or "dating" may differ between the two of you.
push them away: You, the immortal, know you'll only watch the mortal die and no matter how you view them, you want them to look for someone better. So you'll try to drive them away from you.
inexperienced experience: Despite your many, many, many years, you actually have no experience in romance...or in sex.
unique show of affection: When you've been on this earth as long as you have, you may have ways to show your love that are beyond the norm.
actually forbidden: Your long-lived race is forbidden from romantically fraternizing with the ones
accept it: Damn all the consequences, you both know the risks. You want to be together.
lovemaking: The obligatory smut option. Is it as you'd expect, or do your differences raise their heads here, too?
differences: Speaking of differences, your cultures and your experiences sometimes clash. Do you work through them and learn from it or does one of you get frustrated?
condescending: Despite your years, it's important to remember to not be patronizing to your partner.
make the most: You only have a limited time together. Make every moment count.
baby mine: The two of you have an offspring. Who do they take more after...and will they have their immortal parent's traits?
come and go: A partner who has lived for centuries or longer may find themselves drifting away or finding they need to keep traveling as they always have, but they know there's always one place and one person they can return to.
i watched you change: You can only watch them grow older and weaker. They may doubt your love now that they are not as young or beautiful as they once were. There is no need for that.
the end of the line: Your love cannot keep them alive, but you will be with them in their last moments.

[ Harald Sigurdsson has proven himself to be a man of integrity. She's so far lost from her quest to find the other unicorns along with the magician who's turned her into what she is now. Amalthea had been hesitant to open up to him about her truth, but once she understood that his role is a protector, she'd shared it with him.

She is the last Unicorn. Though there are unicorns no longer in the world now that she is mortal. All of her strange oddities and unfamiliarity with humanity is more understandable now. Everything is so new and sometimes overwhelming to her. It feels like a relief to find someone who can guide her through this tempestuous journey.

Eating and hunger is a fascinating concept to her. She eats as a unicorn, but she can go days without needing to. Eating feels like a much more enjoyable pastime as a mortal. The flavors are all so different and curious to her. She bites into the ripe apple as they walk to the next village in their search. ]

What is your favorite? [ She chews the bite, wiping some of the juice from her chin. ] For sustenance?

[ While it had taken him a bit to fully absorb the concept of her not being entirely human, as he'd originally thought; by now Harald had come around to it, and her questions regarding the variety of quirks about human nature no longer phased him.

In fact, he typically found it somewhat endearing, if not outright amusing depending on the question. ]

Are you asking about fruit in general, or all food? [ He grins over at her as they walk down the densely wooded path. ] I am fond of strawberries, if you mean fruit. Have you ever had any?

All good, I suppose. [ The grass of her forest is the crisp and clean and so vibrant. The water is pure and tastes of something magical. Those two things are something she cannot find again with a mortal tongue. Grass is displeasing to her. Water, depending where it's from, can taste strange.

She's found surprising pleasure in other things. Like this apple. She's constantly learning what she likes and dislikes. ]

I cannot remember if I have had a strawberry. There are none in my forest.
