You're a pop star, or a royal, or maybe even the last of your kind who will bring about the Earth's redemption. Whatever the case may be, you're in a position that may be a bit dicey if you attract the wrong kind of attention.

And you're a bodyguard, a soldier, a knight - a protector. Somehow, you've been roped into protecting this person. You'll be rewarded, of course. The work may be cut out for you, but just do your job, keep your head down, and it'll go smooth.

Except for when the two of you break the bounds of professionalism and feelings begin to flourish. Being in such close quarters may get you to see the other in a different light, and saving someone's life just may be the ultimate form of intimacy.

Could this be the real danger? To feel so strongly for the one you've sworn to protect...are you compromised?

How to Play
1. Comment with your character and preferences, being sure to put if you want to play the guard, the guarded, or either. Also, you may want to put if you prefer fluffy, angsty, or smutty interaction - or have no preference.
2. Comment to others.
3. There are no prompts, because there are so many potential options there could be a hundred. Feel free to play anything: the beginnings of the relationship, just meeting, getting used to each other/not getting along at first, the obligatory first time, a threat on the protected's life and how their protector responds, how the feelings between the two has changed the protection, etc. Your only limit is you.

It's his way of trying to keep you under control, maybe.

[It was said thoughtfully, after a few moments, as Suzaku turned Ryou's words over in his mind. Geass wasn't the only way to control someone, after all.]

Does he know of your.... 'involvement' with Lelouch?

[The stress on the word should clue Ryou in as to what type of involvement he's actually talking about.]

[She does agree with him though, about it being his way of keeping her under control. Doesn't mean she likes being treated that way.]

[Though, that was the eternal question. How much does the Spirit know, especially about that one night?]

It's... hard to say. I wasn't wearing the Ring that... that night. That's... the drawing that I made earlier? That's the Ring, Millennium Ring to be more precise. But, a lot of that night is a jumbled mess so I don't remember exactly what happened. And I couldn't be wearing it during a doctor's examination. I haven't put it on since then, not since I found out...

But you can't be too far from it, right? Because otherwise, I would think that you would have throw it into the ocean by now and be done with it.

...No, I never can be too far away from it. If I do get far enough away from it, it'll just... reappear near me, somehow. There have been times when I had thought that it was gone for good, having been stolen by thugs or something. But, no. It will find its way back to me sooner or later, even against all possible odds.

It's one of the things that Lelouch is researching outside of his duties as Emperor; to find a way to separate... 'us.' To make it so the Spirit doesn't have to control me anymore. [She still had no idea how he's going to do it, but she'll see what Lelouch can come up with. She hated the Spirit after all. She didn't want him using her anymore.]

If anyone would be able to do it, it would be Lelouch.

[Lelouch does end up keeping his promises, even if he goes about it in a way that no one else would ever think of. They have referred to him as the Man of Miracles before.]

I just... don't know how it could be possible. The Spirit needs a physical body to interact with the outside world. The Ring has bonded to me, for some reason, and I figure it will stay with me until either I pass on or it finds someone else worthy of it. [And that's something she wouldn't wish on anyone.]

So far, it hasn't found anyone else, just burning those alive inside out that try to put it on. [That's what she was referring to from before, about how some people were dealt with that way for putting on the Ring that wasn't theirs.] It doesn't take too easily to... 'unworthy' souls.

[Suzaku sighed, taking a seat next to her.]

When we were ten years old, after Britannia invaded and we walked through fields and fields of the dead and dying, Lelouch looked at me and vowed to destroy Britannia.

I never thought that seven years later, he would have done it.

Taking over and destroying Britannia and freeing a person from a vengeful spirit's hold are two different things. [Her problems seem so much smaller when compared to changing the entire world.]

I don't even know where he would start.

[He shakes his head. Normally, he's not all that great with his words and he knows it. But this is something that he feels he can explain.]

Leave that up to him. If there's a way to do it, Ryou, he'll find it. That's what he does after all.

...He's the Man of Miracles, after all. [She has seen him do amazing things, impossible things. There's nothing to say that Lelouch couldn't do it, there was no doubt about that. Just... after years of living with being socially isolated from others, not even have the most basic of human needs for stretches of time, only living with a being for years that took great pleasure and delight in her suffering, you can understand her skepticism.]

But, thanks ...for listening anyway. [Probably the first time in a while she's given this much information about her life and past.]

[Suzaku bows his head towards her.]

Of course. I know it might not be much, but I'm always here if you wish to talk.

You'd be surprised how much it can mean to someone having someone else that listens to them. [Guess that means that they're friends now.]

It truly does. Especially when one has been alone for a long time.

[Suzaku knows this feeling well, thanks to the time between the invasion and when he met up with Lelouch again.]

[She knows it too well, being alone for long periods of time, not having anyone there to be with you, whether on a physical, mental, or emotional level, it still hurt a lot of the time.]

[But that time has past now, hopefully. She has friends now, people that would be worried should she just disappear without a good reason. Maybe even a few of them could learn how to tell when she's not in control anymore and be able to do something about it. It was a long shot, but a girl could dream, after all. She pulls her bag closer, finding the new book cover and book she bought, already at work of putting the cover over it.]

No one truly deserves to be alone, anyway. I think that's probably the worst punishment that can be inflicted upon someone. Taking someone away from their family or friends... maybe even taking away their ability to communicate with anyone else... it's almost too cruel to imagine.

[... wasn't that pretty much the punishment he had almost chosen for himself? If he and Lelouch and gone through with the Zero Requiem, Lelouch would have been dead and he would have been forced to live on as Zero, a mere symbol of the man of miracles, Kururugi Suzaku dead to the world. That was to be his form of atonement for his sins, for the lives he had taken and the crimes he had committed.]

[It was really cruel to even think about such a punishment, since she had already lived it. Maybe it was time to get off the subject and find something... lighter to talk about.]

[She sits quietly while fiddling with her new book and cover, having it already fitted and now is actually glancing over its contents. The book was in English, of course, but she didn't have that much trouble reading it, save for a few words. But that's fairly normal for her when she's reading in English. And it was a bit of embarrassing material, so she didn't really want to ask Suzaku what some of the words meant. It might just lead to further embarrassment.]

[Suzaku, of course, hadn't been paying much attention to the contents of what she was reading, only glancing over every so often to see that she was.

One such time glancing over, he caught sight of the type.]

... you know, he probably could have gotten you some books in Japanese if you wanted them.

[Of course, she can't really hide the pink tinge on her face from that.]

I-it's okay. It would have taken the books a bit to be delivered here, and there would have been... some questions as to why he would be ordering those kind of books. [Someone else here along the line was bound to be able to read Japanese besides her and Suzaku. It just felt like too much of a risk.]

B-besides, my English reading skills are a bit... rusty. Just have to keep practicing and reading what I can with everything that I can find. [Killing two birds with one stone, if you will.]

He has connections, you know. Connections with connections with connections that most of the time, I'm not sure if the original connection knows who he's ultimately working for.

[But Suzaku gives a shrug, his eyes trailing over the empty corridor, looking out for any prying eyes or ears, before he glances over at her again.]

Have you talked yet? You know, about after?

[That... was a really complicated explanation, there. But she's fine with what she has right now. If she wants something else, she can ask him, or go out again to find a better book suited to her needs]

[They have talked about a few things, back when they first found out, but there were a few things that she was still uncertain about. She also looks around, to make sure that there wasn't anyone around them that wasn't really listening or paying close attention to what they were saying.]

...He... he said that I could keep the baby, but there are some things that need to be done, since it is his child, too. Namely... having him or her become his heir. After that, I don't really know what happens... [She has no idea what would happen to her, not being a princess or anything, being Japanese, and not married to him. She would stay around as long as she could for her son or daughter, but she really had no place here amongst the royals of Britannia.]

[Suzaku was silent for a long moment.]

He won't let you be separated from your child, Ryou. He knows better then anyone what it's like to grow up without a mother.

[Admitted, Marianne ended up being crazy, but there were only three people alive who knew that and Suzaku wasn't about to tell.]

...He already has promised me that. He won't let us be separated if he can help it. [It was more promising that the Spirit wouldn't do anything to the child if he could do something about it, but she guessed that he wouldn't let anyone separate them; not the spirit, not the Britannians, not the Japanese, not either of their families, no one was going to separate her child from her.]

But... it still doesn't give me a place to be in this kind of world. [You have your place, Nunnally has her place, Lelouch has his... she didn't really know where she belonged.] ...Mother to the child of the Emperor doesn't exactly have a ring to it.

Just because you haven't figured it out yet doesn't mean you don't have a place, you know.

[He gently nudged her with a shoulder.]

Above everything else, you're important to him, and that does give you a place, whether you believe it or not.

[Because otherwise Lelouch would not have slept with her, drugged or not.]

[It doesn't really help her though. She knew that she was going to be a part of her son or daughter's life, there was no question about that; but little babies don't stay little forever. They would be a prince or princess because of Lelouch being the father. Since she had no title of her own, she was kind of just... here. She doesn't even know what the future holds for her once the baby is born. It was still all so confusing...]

[But the nudge does get a little bit of a smile out of her. Count that as a victory, Suzaku.]

I-it would be nice to know, though...

[He does. Oh, he does.]

Well, yeah, of course it would.

[And he's willing to bet Lelouch had some sort of idea, otherwise she still wouldn't be here. Even pregnant with his child, he's pretty sure his best friend would have made sure if she wasn't willing, she'd be as far from here as possible.]

But honestly, even if the two of you never marry or anything, he'll still make sure that you have a place here and in the kid's life.
