1 - fuck the police, this is the best time for a walk. hope you've got a nice thick coat on.
2 - stranded in the buttcrack of nowheresville? weren't you watching the time? now you've gone and missed that last bus out of there. or maybe you're lost, somehow. what do?
3 - literally chilling, in this weather, is quite easy to do. sitting around relaxing in it is a wee more difficult, but sometimes much more enjoyable, especially if shelter can be found. the snow is beautiful to watch, after all.
4 - the weather's not going to stop you. your snow fort's packed full of ammo and ready to go. those aren't snow angels over there; they mark where the poor souls you've downed have fallen. be careful with that snowman's head!!
5 - you're about fifty miles from civilization but there's a roof over your head, so never mind the chilly draught, right? right. you mightn't be the only one lucky enough to stumble upon this little shelter, though. remember to share the blanket.
6 - everyone stuck outside should be jelly. you've got a fireplace and hot cocoa and damn if it isn't awesome. a heater's not quite so romantic, but it'd do. there'd better be a backup generator in case the power trips.

Austin was hunting, driving along the remote backwoods of upstate Maine, on the trail of a wendigo when the gentle snowfall had turned into a driving storm. He attempted to press on, confident behind the wheel of his heavy-duty truck, but after he lost the lane and almost ended up in a ditch for the third time, he finally gave in.

Pulled aside, he hunkered down in his seat, wrapped in a blanket and munching idly on a granola bar as he waited for the worst of it to pass.

In the seat beside him, a sawed-off waited, loaded and ready.

[ Normally, the cold doesn't get to him much. Perhaps he should have thought twice before antagonizing the barman, for the trickster had ended up in a brawl that left him bleeding in the snow. Loki didn't particularily move to situate himself properly until Thor came, wherever he may be. They had made plans to meet here after thor came back from his hunting but now .. It just goes to show Thor's irresponsibility for the thunderer always did have a short attention span for him when there was a beautiful woman around who would be the center of his brothers affections.

So if the golden prince of asgard happened upon the trickster .. well, what he'll see is the worst snow storm in asgard history and loki is caught right in the middle of it with a wound to boot. ]

[ Every now and then, the company invites donors in to observe rehearsal. It's largely at Thomas' discretion when and where it happens, if they'll have an extra audience when they're still in the studio or out using the stage, the effort to do a little extra fundraising opening up the slots usually reserved for producers and the house creative staff. All in all, it's not the worst tactic. If anything, it just gives the dancers an opportunity to perform for an audience, no matter how small. Despite the attitude that they're generally expected to take towards rehearsals, it's not always easy to put your all into a performance that'll go nowhere.

For Nina, it's a conditional that causes her a little more anxiety — an audience means that Thomas will be kinder when things go well and meaner when things don't, and an audience means more people to let down. From time to time she recognizes faces from the season's opening gala, but none that make any particular personal impact. (Acquaintances in her life are made and then dropped, her usual shy demeanor making it hard to maintain any real interpersonal relationships beyond those demanded by his occupation.) None, save Doctor Lecter, who appears a few weeks into the rehearsal process. Fortunately, it's not the first time they've seen each other since the gala, that bare level of familiarity prompting a quick smile up into the gallery of the studio before the rehearsal continues.

It's just Act Three, today, running with the changes between Odile and Odette, and drawing the same criticisms from Thomas as always (she's too frigid while dancing the black swan, too controlled), though, blissfully, they don't run through the coda. (Nina can't help but be relieved; she still hasn't gotten it to a point that Thomas seems to find acceptable — she doesn't want to have to show those failings off.)

By the time rehearsal ends, it's snowing outside, as the forecast had predicted. There are already a few inches of the stuff on the ground, though the pedestrians don't seem to be slowed down by it in the least, if the footprints leading to and fro across Lincoln Center square are any indication. Nina catches up to the doctor by the stage door, slipping out with her bag slung over her shoulder, pink peacoat buttoned all the way up. She's got a little leeway time, at least, before her mother starts prodding at her again. ]

Hannibal. [ She nearly stammers, the title of doctor catching on her tongue. She doesn't want to be rude, but she doesn't want to be too formal, either. ] I— thank you so much for coming. I hope it wasn't too bad.

[ One of the bad things about driving a SHIELD car, rather than one of her own design and make, is that sometimes they just fucking give way. It has a chip in it, which means they'll be rescued soon, but that doesn't mean it's not fucking freezing in a way that Tony very obviously (and very loudly) does not appreciate. ]
