[ It's in the middle of the night that it happens. Yang practically jumps out of her sleep, vaulting upwards and gasping for breath. Her heart is racing a mile of a minute, beating like a drum inside her chest. She tightly clutches her nightshirt, eyes wide, as she begins to call out for help. ]

Blake...? Blake...! I...I...I had the dream again!

[ Neither of them are a stranger to nightmares. They've both got all sorts of things their minds like to dream up; things about the war, about people they lost, but there's a few that like to recur more often. So when Blake's jolted awake by Yang's gasp and frantic voice, she immediately knows what nightmare Yang's had.

The war's over. They're staying in her parent's house in Menagerie as they visit, and the day was spent full of laughter and sunshine as Blake showed Yang around her childhood home. Even that wasn't enough to chase away the nightmares.

Sleep-rumpled, eyes barely open, Blake sits up and gathers Yang into her arms, murmuring gently: ]

It's okay, I'm here. We're safe, I promise. Breathe with me, Yang. [ She inhales deep and slow, hoping that matching her pace will stop Yang from hyperventilating. ]

Breathe...!

[ She repeats the word until she manages to match Blake's rhythm, the attempts of which are shallow and frantic at first before she manages to slow down. Her still-present arm's hand reaches for Blake's hand and seizes it (her robotic arm is lying on the stand next to the bed), squeezing it as hard as she can. ]

...Th-thank you Blake.

[ One hand finds its way to Yang's hair, stroking gently, fingers tangling in sunshine curls. Once she feels Yang start to match her rhythm, Blake makes sure to keep her breathing deep and even, deeper than usual so that the rise and fall of her chest is easy to feel. Yang's tight grip on her hand aches -- Yang at full strength is no slouch, needless to say -- but Blake's aura bears it willingly. ]

We're okay. We're in Menagerie, and we're safe. Nobody's going to come for us here.

[ It's just babble, Blake murmuring reassuring things to be a comforting sound. After a while of that, of soft reassurances and breathing in sync, Blake shifts slightly, sitting with her back up against the headboard, Yang still gathered in her arms. ]
