Gladiatorial Combat Meme!

Who doesn't like fighting? Characters, players, the heat of battle is a great place to gather CR! So we bring you the crowd. The rush of the scene, the thrill of battle or the sated daze of boodlust. Version 2.0, bring it on ladies and gents.

Location, location, location!

1. Space/Alien planet: Just what it sounds like folks. You woke up after the worst hangover of your life and you weren't in Kansas any more!
2. Rome: Who doesn't like the classics? Welcome to low tech and brutally unfair!
3. Criminal Underground Games: Could be in a city, could be in an abandoned barn, what matters is that it's illegal as hell, makes a profit of your pain, and the not-so-upstanding citizens pay through the nose to watch two guys with bats go at each other in a razor wire cage.
4. The future: This is legal, somehow! You may be a criminal with the option to fight your way to freedom, you may be the next best thing to a bleeding celebrity!
5. On TV: None of this shit is real but you put on a hell of a show!
6. Mix n' Match: Or choose your own adventure! Be creative little buggers!

Situations!

1. One-on-One: Fight your way to the top! Easy huh? Except when your opponent is, well, not a push over.
2. Group Smash!: It is all of you guys vs. all of those guys! Team up, smash things, repeat until your hammer breaks!
3. Fresh meat/Training: You've never seen the main arena, you arrived and you've been down in the training grounds since! You may be the newest punching bag, you may be a rising star, you still have to bow down before the arena winners!
4. Matinee special!: Nobody takes you seriously, you end up in fights against the local Nuns After Prayer club with weapons like rubber chickens and foam bats!
5. I'm an apprentice!: You arrived in the latest shipment of arena slaves but let's be honest you have arms like wet noodles and they'd feel bad sticking you in the arena. You are now apprenticed to the arena healer/doctor/sawbones/weapon smith whatever!
6. Decompressing: Life is hard as an arena combatant, sometimes you just have to unwind in your chambers under/around the arena.
7. Blue Plate special: There's just something about a strong fighter...you may be a rich patron purchasing a few hours of time with a gladiator, you may be the paid for combatant, have at?
8. Spectator:You are in the stands, lucky you! Do you know the person on the field? Did you bring a friend to watch the blood being spilled? (it's okay we understand the appeal)
9. Monster Mash!: Sometimes people just need to see others torn apart by vicious monsters. Lions, tigers, mutant gila monsters, they have teeth and claws and such and you have...hands. Lucky you.
10. Death Match: Oh my, can you kill? The match isn't over until you do. Two on two, one on one, are you hard enough to follow through?
11. Choose your own!: Same as above, have at and wreak havoc!

Apparently going crazy, terrorizing a city, having your family put a bullet in your brain, and not dying put you on someone's list. The Arena's list to be precise. The last thing she remembered was her sister by her bed, telling her it was going to be alright...

...then she waking up in a cell with no beeping machines, no pain, her violin beside her. A different world, a different place, kidnapped from her home somehow. Her cell was lined in sound dampening equipment, the arena she performed in was likewise shielded.

And it was a Performance. What else could she do but play when it was kill or be killed? Tearing, ripping waves of sound served through Beethoven and Brahm (apologies to the masters she improvised when the fights stretched longer than the songs). Did it matter that she was tired, that she was lost, alone, and that she cried as she played.

Her music didn't sound like angels screaming anymore; the bullet had fixed the madness given to her. No, she was herself, sane, and sad as bodies fell around her and blood splashed against her strings.

What else was she to do though?

None of her siblings had ever been taught to give in, to give up, why should she?

If not dying when you should have was a qualifier for this little song and dance, Jack could enter ten times over.

He couldn't remember how he got here, exactly. Whether he'd actually fallen asleep, or if he had just died and revived here instead of the nearest vita-chamber. But there wasn't a way out. He looked. He tried making one, and failed. All he could do was keep fighting.

His own room was blank. No plasmids worked against the walls, and his bullets were wasted against them. The only thing stopping it from being a tiny square was the glass cylinder breaking up the shape. It had to be some imitation of the chambers at home, only this was dark, and dead, non-functioning. Were they trying to recreate that technology, or did they only use it to bring him here? Hah. Didn't matter right now, he'd worry about it when it came up.

Which may be sooner, rather than later. His door opens to the arena in its newest form, and his next opponent. None of them were like what he was used to - but he managed before. He could manage one more.

They didn't let him keep many of his weapons. He had his pistol, he had his shotgun, he had his wrench, and he had his plasmids. He stepped into the arena wearing only them.

He would start this battle the same as he always did:

"We don't have to do this."

Maybe, this time, his opponent would listen. If that could make a difference getting out.

[ In Gannicus's (sometimes) esteemed opinion it wasn't really a decent celebration until someone had ran a gauntlet of wine. Little had he hoped that it would happen here of all places - in a rotting old temple full of suicidal idealists and gladiators with seemingly nothing better to do than kill themselves off needlessly. For the little that he had seen of the man called Spartacus he hadn't quite expected the afternoon to turn out so well; there had been drinking and fighting, two things that kept Gannicus (at least outwardly) happy, and before the day was out he hoped that there might be a little fucking too. But not yet.

For now Gannicus seems to have lost his fine female company - he was sure they had been here only a minute ago, ready and raring to go - but consoles himself with yet another fresh amphora. What little wounds he had picked up during the day's contests hardly seem to bother him, cushioned as they were with drink and the memory of soft kisses from his missing ladies. With the roar of drunken song and shrieks of laughter echoing through the temple grounds he makes his way with a lopsided grin to find fresh company.

Sighting Agron he throws his arms wide, amphora dangling from the tips of a few fingers. ]

It was a fine fucking plan - quenching thirst both for contest and wine in one short day. [ He offers the wine, holding forth the amphora in an unsteady gesture. ] A sweeter victory than any on sand or field of battle, to take one little wagon of wine!

How did The Captain get here? He has no clue. He has a massive headache, but it isn't from a hangover. Apparently, just smashing him in the back of head and dropping him in the arena is effective enough.

It seems he is a gladiator today, with the bright lights glaring down at him. He's still in a bit of a daze and is just catching on to this fact.

Who would put him in here? Why, the same people who would pair the little balloon seeming thing with the spiky diamond girl and think it was a great idea to announce them as a team! Penny had honestly been terrified of slipping, or getting thrown, and popping her teammate.

That would have been...traumatic. Yes, that was a good word for it.

She'd spent the first few moments of the group melee getting as far away from her seemingly vulnerable teammate as possible. Just in case. Sadly, he was short and easy to lose track of in the milling chaos.

Hopefully he didn't mind when she accidentally shoulder-chucked an opponent over him! She...tried not to hit people with her points when possible.

Tommy sighed as he looked at the modified version of his Green Ranger armor, helmet in hand. He didn't like arenas, after the Skybase incident in his Red Zeo days. But he had no choice - someone had captured Kimberly, and as any good Knight in Green Armor, he was going to rescue her. So here he was, a free man fighting on his own in the arena on KO-42, needing to earn the right to challenge the man who'd taken his princess.

Finishing up with putting on the gold chest shield with green chain mail hanging over his torso, gold bands on his arms, and the green-toned helmet without the eye visor or face plate, he picked up the two weapons they deemed proper for him - a dagger and a sabre. "May the Power Protect Me..." He said, before stepping out into the alien arena, to see what was waiting for him.

[A cheering that Veronica had never heard before filled her ears as her and Beck entered the stadium, both of them were held in tight cuffs that restriced their movement.

This was the first time that Veronica had seen the inside of the stadium in Argon. It was packed and the programs were certainly looking for some action.]

Greetings programs! We certainly have quite the show for you tonight!

[The two were pushed rudely into the arena by some guards, their cuffs disappearing as they entered. Veronica couldn't believe that this had happened to the both of them again.]

Today, we have those horrible programs that have tried to upsurp your rightful master CLU! The Renegade, and the User!

[The booing was heard all around, though Veronica could pick out some saddened faces in the crowd. She didn't care if they saw her own face or knew who she was, she was just happy that Beck's mask hadn't come off.]

They will now fight for your amusement, and their own lives, against some of our toughest fighters!

If a stranger saw Paul in this moment, they might be forgiven for thinking Arrakis was the only home he'd ever known. He's a natural fit for the place, as well as the people; more than a match for the prophecy seeded by the Missionaria Protectiva. Even his breathing conveys confidence and ease; full command of himself relative to his surroundings.

Jessica observes his comfort without envy. By Fremen standards, the air inside Sietch Tabr is thick with moisture; she knows that objectively, but it's still too dry for her. Perhaps it's only dry compared to Caladan, the planet which remains her measure for all things.

She's been watching him for a minute or so. He should recognize this style of watchfulness: his mother is most attentive when she's least able to be protective. There's always been constraints in this regard. She's had to know when not to shield him. Now she accepts that he has no need of her protection at all. He's grown well into his potential.

They're alone. She'd approach him more strategically if that were not the case.

There's tension in the lines of her body. She has one hand on her crysknife, poised to draw it, knowing that the blade will have to be blooded if she does. It's moments like this that have led others — in the past, as they certainly will in the future — to question her loyalties.

[They have a plethora of prisoners, soldier and civilian alike, and since even Spartacus knows the masses need their bread and circuses, the captured were herded to the decrepit old arena in the middle of the city to be used as fodder for the swords of those who had over-powered them.

Saxa prefers a challenge of course; killing Roman citizens, while being pleasurable enough, is not really any kind of work she can sink her teeth - or blades - into So as she waits on the sands to see who emerges from the dark, she stands next to Gannicus, she idly fingers the tip of one of the daggers she now wore, relieved from the Egyptian after his death.]

Easy slaughter like cattle bore me. We hope for soldiers. Some challenge, yes?
